Not to interrupt your conversation, but do you think a game set in the Armored Core universe would attract players in th NSWRPF? If so, I'll post up a game here I (and thus Resistance Games) have had in the works for review.

Um, it might. I don't know what everyone would enjoy around here, I guess. I would be interested in it, though I don't know if I would play it or not.

Better yet, I (NOT Resistance Games, I might add) might make a Mass Effect RP? I seem to recall Saintheart making a statemet in Hooper's along the lines of:
"When are you all going to start sending the Mass Effect RPs into the NSWRPF?"
Might I ask your opinions; which do you think would be more popular/enjoyable?

I know nothing about either but if you can (a) summarize the universe in two pages or less; and (b) create a compelling plot, I'll give it a whirl.

To be honest I was posting tongue-in-cheek about that following the adulation that Mass Effect seems to be getting at the moment. Having said that, if it starts up, is popular and attracts more people to the NSWRPF, all power to you and all my modly blessings, guys.

I never really thought of a Mass Effect game...but the Universe is ripe for manipulation that's for sure. A bit too Star Wars-y thought, to be honest with you, I think people will shy away from it to go play actual SW games back in the Main Forums.

You know, I never thought of a Mass Effect game either...That would be quite the game and is a vast universe to explore. I would be all for a game such as that!
If anyone wants help in the creation of it, give me a PM.

*** Formulative Discussion: Society Builder Game ***
So one type of game that I've been dreaming about for a while is a viable "Sim" game. Either simming a city, or a roller coaster park, or a vineyard, or a casino, or a movie/radio studio or something.
I think it would work if its made properly. The grunt work would have to be on making the user interface simple and efficient. It would necessarily need to be simplified, but I think the gameplay could be entertaining. Its like podracer in reverse. Instead of competing against eachother, the players would work together against the GM.
I could see a city game go like this. Group of players are the city council / managers tasked to run the city. They have an initial population, and need to provide for them. They can build schools, public works, etc, in response to what their people need, given by the GM. They can be given trade-offs which will cause different paths and different problems to deal with.
Similar w/ a casino. Members are board-members tasked to creating a casino. They can decide on theme, how many, where, and what kind of restaurants and shops are there, casino space, etc. GM plays guests, sponsors that may want to market in the casino, and maybe a competing casino across the way.
And it can be the same w/ studio. GM load wouldn't exactly be light for this type of an idea, but there would be alot of copy/paste when it comes to budgets/polls/etc. I would think it to be manageable for someone interested in a full-bodied game.
Thoughts on if this idea? Could it work? Would you play it?
-I_H
Well it would be interesting. In some Sim games there is a penalty of sorts if something is missed or not completed. Example if you build a city your choices effect the lives of the people living in the city. If there isnt enough money toward something thats in need then the city will undergo a change for the worse.
I think it would be alot of work and very few GM's could probably pull it off to be successful.
On the HP games, i used to be in them all the time. Unfortunately they dont last long at all and i noticed that the games always lose their GM's for some reason or another. That happens but i swear the HP games are jinxed for that.
I dont even know anything about Mass Effect. I get excited a bit cause you guys make it sound so good, but no knowing anything about it makes me hesitate.

Undoubtedly the wrong place to pose this kind of question, but do any of you guys know when the next volume of GAW will swing around? I've been waiting since I joined, and only just noticed it's been going on forever.

Need some advice to build this dueling rpg
Darkness and light the very foundations of the Universe. Since the beginning of time these two forces have battled against each other. Like the jedi and sith neither has given any ground. Yet there is a single item that could forever break the balance. This item had once been known as the Stone of Enlightenment and the very symbol of the jedi order.
It is believed that this very stone had helped form the first incarnation of the jedi order. Yet it was also believed that this stone had also given birth to the first dark jedi. The stone like the war of light and darkness has been rumored to move from side to side. In later years the sith had renamed the stone and hidden it forever. Its new name was one that only the sith would know, for it was called the heart of the sith’ari who the sith believed would one day posses the stone and once more recreate the sith order as it should be.
In many legends it speaks that this stone has been pasted from Dark Lord to Dark Lord with each Sith Lord adding his/her own dark energies to the stone itself. That is to say until it was hidden in a place where time and space have no meaning, sealed in tomb on a world like no other. Now the stone awaits one worthy enough to claim it once more. This place is where the darkness of every beings heart slowly takes form and only the strongest may find it. In this place you may find many great wonders but once you enter it forever will it dominate your destiny.
****Welcome one and all. This rpg is in truth a free for all duel. Your character may be from any time period that you wish him/her to be from and I am even willing to allow SOME canon characters into the mix. Every character MUST be approved before you are allowed to post. If you have any questions Please PM me or another GM/ Mod. There is to be no OOC’S except by the GM, Co-GM, or Mod.
