As requested...

503 BBY: Trismegistus

“The heralds of darkness shall emerge millennial, from beneath cogs of machinery, black robes, black robes, three for the face of Sith destiny.”
The Last Epistle of Marka Ragnos, destroyed 3,963 BBY

The year is 503 BBY. The Republic has had peace for nearly five centuries, and its glory is unparalleled. Corellian-built Consular-class cruisers run back and forth from the Core to Outer Rim, bringing new worlds to the Republic with regularity, and the Expansion Region, controlled by dozens of corporations, takes raw materials from the Outer Rim and pours them into the Core, to maintain the Great Peace. Kuat Drive Yards and the Core Galaxy Systems corporations, with the unified Senate, have brought an economy which is growing every year.

In the Corellian system, a shining star in the tapestry of the Republic, education is the newest direction they are pioneering into. The worlds of Corell have an undercurrent of restlessness, but it is staring at this new creation. The University of Corellia.

The King of Corellia, directing his parliament and advisors, has constructed the ultimate tool to protect his world’s future. The training academies of CorSec, the Corellian Jedi Order and the greatest minds in the Corellian system have been rolled into one entity. Jedi are trained not to be guardians, but to be doctors, soldiers, CorSec officers. CorSec academics are trained just as much in fencing, meditation and philosophical arts, in a radical experiment that has drawn eyes from Coruscant and the Rim, and even the Jedi Order remain curious about the act. Jedi Council Master Yoda has cautiously expressed concern, but the Senate has largely looked at this idea and embraced it. The King of Corellia has maintained support within his cabals and dalliances, and Corellia looks set to define a first for the galaxy.

Drawn exclusively from the worlds and species of the Corellian system, the students, undergraduates, teachers, lecturers and instructors have been pegged as some of the rising stars of the Republic. Credits have pushed some in, and intelligence others still, but every Force sensitive in the Corellian system has been sent to the University regardless of skill, to finally integrate the Corellian Jedi into mainstream society. Kuat Drive Yards and Core Galaxy Systems eagerly look upon the recruits for their galaxy-spanning companies, and the opportunities seem replete for everyone in the University, some celebrities already.

Talus, Tralus, Corellia, Centerpoint, Drall and Selonia have sent their best, and the Corellian Jedi have welcomed the chance to solve any lasting doubts about their allegiances to Corell over Coruscant.

But little do the students know that these men, women, Drall, Selonian, lovers, lecturers, Jedi, Padawans, foes, bullies, leaders and extremists will all weave the future of the galaxy for the next five decades. Young and old, ranging from age as undergraduates and postgraduates, taught by the greatest minds of Corellia, they will all have a bond that will see their friendships and relationships in these formative years decide whether the galaxy sits on the edge of war, or a peace which will last another five centuries.

Future Factions

CorSec

The sometimes secret police, sometimes judiciary, enact and curb the rule of the King of Corellia. CorSec has a strong tradition of toeing the line with the King, keeping his excesses in check so as to avoid any growth of dissent against his autocratic rule. The officers of CorSec are active on the streets of all worlds within the Corellian system, and have departments on worlds throughout the sector and even down the Corellian Run and Trade Route, as a means of protecting the King’s interests. Some act as bodyguards and advisors to the Kings, the Planetary Constables reporting directly to him, while System Lieutenants act as mobile officers, dealing with cross-planet disputes.

Positions available: Royal Guard, Planetary Constable, System Lieutenant, Detective

Corellian Jedi Order

The Corellian Jedi Order has been attached to the Corellian sector for as long as history records a Jedi Order. A hive of smuggling and piracy even in the peace, the Corellian Order is considerably more flexible than the Coruscant-based regime, embracing relationships and attachment into the framework of the order. Often wearing green robes and sporting JedCred’s which are passed down to their families on their deaths, the Corellian Jedi have been recently criticised as the mouthpiece of Coruscant. In response, they have mostly co-opted into CorSec, but remain separate for the purposes of financing and politics – CorSec doesn’t want sole responsibility for a group which has a history of creating fallen Jedi which ravage the galaxy – Corellian’s have a long military tradition involving fighting the numerous incarnations of the Sith Empire, and most Corellian’s resent the ‘Lord Nyax’ kidnappings the Jedi are known for. Most Masters now live within the lecturer halls of the University of Corellia, while the Knights act in tandem with CorSec system lieutenants as they travel the Five Worlds. Padawans and students study side by side.

Positions available: Master, Knight, Padawan

Kuat Drive Yards

One of the vastest shipyard entities in the galaxy, Kuat Drive Yards is a signatory of the Techno Union, which includes the vast construction facilities of Feorest and Fondor, rivals of a sort of Kuat. The Kuati have a Director based system implemented now, but have been considering a family-based hierarchy for the secession to the position of Kuat of Kuat. The company has a larger rival in the Core Galaxy Systems, which has refused to sign up with the Techno Union, and is eager to steal the newest celebrity students from the University of Corellia. There is no doubt that a shrewd student could end up within a few tiers of Kuat of Kuat. The High Technicians serve as aides for Kuat of Kuat, and House Technicians are attached to their respective Houses, and apart from that Yard Technicians are attached to specific yards throughout the Kuat Sector.

Positions available: High Technician, House Technician, Yard Technician

Core Galaxy Systems

A conglomerate almost as old as the Republic itself, Core Galaxy Systems has a history of joint-ventures with the Corellian shipyards and providing the vast Core Dreadnaughts the Republic relied upon in the days before the Sith. Core Galaxy Systems has a less transparent leadership structure, and all that can be divined about its Head Chairman is that he is Umbaran, though the other Chairmen and women know little more. Even the Yard Officers, assigned to the yards of Xa Fel, Tarhassan and other Expansion Region systems, along the hyperlanes, have no idea who he is, and the rumour-mill running across the firm is policed by the Magistrates, whom command entire systems and report to the Chairmen.

Positions available: Chairman, Magistrates, Yard Officers

Mercenaries

The mercantile powers of the galaxy, be it the Nova Guard, Mandalorian Mercs, Sun Guard, or Bounty Hunters Guild, can see an opportunity when it appears. They have no doubt that some of their elements will crack and be thrown out – it is the nature of celebrity groups. As such, a loose coalition of these powers – the Mercenaries – a name chosen simply because it can be dropped into conversation in the Core without raising too many fears such as the words Mandalorian, Nova Guard or Bounty Hunters Guild do – position themselves in the Corellian sector to nab these dropouts and harness their intelligence and skills for their own ends. All of these entities have affiliations with Kuat Drive Yards and Core Galaxy Systems, and some even act as assassins for the Corellian monarch, and their sources dot CorSec and thus permeate even the Corellian Jedi Order as it becomes more integrated with Corellia.

Ranks: Mandalorian Merc, Nova Guard captain, Bounty Hunter, Sun Guard assassin

Non-playable Faction – the Sith

Two Sith. No more, no less. One to embody power, and one to crave it.

Rules

1. Obey the ToS.
2. The Force is attached to common sense principles. You’re not going to be Yoda, Mace or Anakin Skywalker. Vaapad doesn’t exist, and the Force is more likely going to treat you like a Kit Fisto or Shaak Ti.
3. GM is law. You don’t like it, leave.
4. Be inventive with your characters. I don’t want fifteen teenager Corellian Jedi, and won’t accept fifteen such character sheets. Three or four, maybe, but just because you’re a student doesn’t mean you’re a teenager – this is a university, and mature student characters are very welcome.
5. PM all character sheets to the GM before approval. Don’t post your GM-only portion of you character sheet, for the second time.

Hope you enjoy the game!

Very interesting, Sin. Kudos for having the guts to restrict the scope down to one star system rather than setting people loose across the whole galaxy. And whilst I get hints of "Harry Potter", it doesn't fit that mould at all. And what a wonderful setting - Corellia! happy

good job indeed. hey just throwing ideas out here, but has anyone ever thought of a call of duty RPG, one that takes place after CoD4. it would be a totally different story line maybe someone would make a cameo. but i was thinking of having it be a capped RP so there would be a allotted number of chars on one team etc. you know how it works.

anyone interested send me a PM. thanks grin

Imp, you're a jerk. Are you familiar with the old axiom that choice is paralyzing and true creativity only comes via creating something unique despite a very constraining set of rules? By opening the prompt so much, you've actually made things very difficult. Now I have dozens of potential games swimming around in my head to choose from, tweak to be presentation ready, almost submit, and then decide against for the sake of something else.

It is about time, I think, that I finally stopped lurking, and took part in this great society. Namely because I wish to have an upcoming RPG disected, but we will come to that later - about 2 weeks to a month from now I imagine.

So I just need to add something about the GDG to my bio? Done.

This compitition is going to be PREETTTTY interesting. I am excited to see the outcome. I just hate how long it takes to reach that point!

On a serious note for game designing. I am trying to think of new, fresh ways to invent the star wars RPG. Reading back it was partially addressed already, but to restate..

It seems like the only type of game that people respond to are the ones that have a large cast of Force Users. There doesn't seem to be a comfortable half way point between Force Users and the characters that aren't Force sensative. Thus far, with the exception of I_H's senate game, just about every game has Jedi combat OR non jedi combat. My question to this guild is simple, but difficult.

What can we do as GM's to spice a game up and reinvent the fun of Star Wars without straying from it's core qualities? Most games are set up for individual characters.

What about factions? If a single player controlled a faction of some sort? I am thinking along these lines to the end of making a new type of game that players might enjoy. Let me know what all of your thoughts are on the subject.

Without any further delay, your entries this contest!

But first, as always, rules and such for your orderly enjoyment...

This week will be a critiquing and opinion-forming phase. What this means is as follows:

So now with this post, you will have all the info I have to make a decision. And as a judge, it comes down to me to make the ultimate call as to which one is the best. But I'm not one of those authoritarian judges, I like to see what others think to. So when you see these posts and you want to make a comment, go ahead and do so...

I'll be reading them all and taking everything into consideration, weighing it all to make my decision.

ALSO:

1.) Keep the game designer's names anonymous. I don't want this to become a popularity contest.
2.) Of course, keep everything TOS friendly!
3.) You don't have to remark on all the games... just what you want. happy

To the posts!

The Iliad: A Trojan War RPG

Sing, O goddess, the anger of Achilles, son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures, for so were the counsels of Jove fulfilled from the day on which the son of Atreus, king of men, and great Achilles, first fell out with one another.

On the beaches of Greece sits a mighty armada, thousands of ships carrying the largest army the world has ever seen. The assembled armies of the Greek King’s have a simple, single objective. Reclaim that which was lost – Helen; the most beautiful women on Earth, wed to the Spartan King Menelaus, stolen by the Trojan Prince Paris. After 5 years, the assembled armies of the Greek Kings are ready to depart for Troy, to regain her.

Mythical/Historical Background

The Trojan War is a unique time in History – while there is historical proof of a battle taking place in the period of the Iliad at Troy – the detailed events in Homer’s poetry are far from the truth. Historians generally believe that the Trojan War took place roughly 1194–1184 BC. The historic battle which took place at Troy would have been left to the annuls of history, if not for the Greek poet, Homer; who recorded a dramatized version of the events of the Trojan War in the late 9th, or early 8th Century BC, immortalizing the battle in mythology for millennia to come.

The Iliad told of how Zeus, after being warned that the son of Thetis would one day be greater than the King of the Gods himself. In order to stop this prophecy coming to light, Zeus ordered that Peleus, the elderly king of Aegina. Their wedding was a joyous occasion, attended by gods and mortals alike. All the gods bar one – Eris, the god of spite. Furious at being excluded, Eris planned her revenge through a simple gift – a golden apple, inscribed with the words ‘Kallisti’- To the fairest. The apple, thrown at the feet of the 3 great Greek goddesses, Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, and War; Hera, Queen of the Gods, and Goddess of women and marriage; and Aphrodite, goddess of love, sparked a heated debate – with each claiming the apple was there.
The debate was settled by Zeus, who slyly declared that a simple Sheppard boy, Paris, would decide who should own the apple – ensuring that he (Zeus) would not be responsible for the choice, saving him from the wrath of the two goddesses who would be spurned. So the goddesses descended upon Mount Ida, on which Paris rested, and tended to his sheep. It was there he made his fateful choice between the 3 goddesses. Each offered their own gift to Paris – Athena offered wisdom, and skill in warfare; Hera offered to make Paris King of Europe and Asia; and Aphrodite offered the love of the world’s most beautiful women, Helen of Troy. Upon that day Paris made his fateful choice, which led to the bloodiest war the world had ever seen.

Every story has a beginning, and an end. The story of the Trojan War, the Illiad, is no different. It tells of the elopement of Paris and Helen, the powder keg that started the War, and of the Trojan Horse, the trickery that ended it. In between the beginning, and the end, lays, as commonly found, the middle – a period of 10 years between the arrival of the Greeks on the shores of Troy, and the destruction of one of the greatest cities man has ever known. It is in this period that the RPG takes place. Whilst history states that the Greeks will win the war, the period between arrival and victory, whilst no less detailed, is much more open for creative interpretation.

The RPG is unique in the fact it doubles as a strategic, and character driven game; and is divided between the Summit of Mount Olympus; and the beaches of Troy herself. Allow me to explain: The game is, in essence, composed of 3 factions. The Gods (GM Controlled), The Trojans, and The Greeks. Each faction, explained in more detail below, holds the allegiance of many heroes, Demigod and Human alike. It is these heroes who control the fighting; directing the movement of their troops. Meanwhile the gods, atop their throne on Mount Olympus, watch the fighting with great interest, and use their powers to interfere with, and dictate the fate of the mortals far below.

A key point to remember about this period is that at the time of the Trojan War – the 12th-11th Century BC, the most advanced weaponry available is the Bow and Arrow, and along with the Spear, Sword, and Shield, this makes up the arsenal of both the Greek and Trojan armies. The majority of the weaponry outfitted to the troops of Greece and Troy is smelted from Bronze, with only the Kings, and Heroes, having weapons smelted from Silver and Gold, as well as having access to Horses, and Chariots.

You will play one of the heroes, Greek or Trojan, each in control of their own armies, each with their own traits, and each with their own fate. These characters can be either taken from the list below, or be created by the player themselves.

The Factions

Greece

Ancient Greece is a country made up of various different regions, each with their own individual King. The Greek Empire is still in its fledging stages, before the provinces were united under one Greek flag, yet is the most advanced nation on Earth. When Helen, the most beautiful women on Earth, came of marrying age, there was immense rivalry for her hand in marriage, from every King in Greece. To curb the rivalry, Odysseus, the King of Ithica, came up with a plan – he gave the choice of husband to Helen’s father, and made every suitor take an oath, promising to support the chosen husband in war if anything should happen to Helen. Greece’s army is one of the worlds most powerful, and the powerful Myrmidons, Greece’s elite foot soldiers, are some of the most feared soldiers in the world. Greeks, whilst loyal to all the Olympians, tend to favour Hera, and Athene – both of whom support the Greeks in the war.

The following Greek heroes took part in the Trojan War, and are available as Player Characters:

- Achilles, son of Peleus, and heir to the throne of Aegina, Demi-god, and commander of the Myrmidons, the greatest combatant in the Greek army.

- Odysseus, King of Ithica, married to Penelope, an extremely cunning, intelligent commander.

- Diomedes, King of Argos, and the nephew of Heracles, the (tied) second greatest combatant in the Greek army, after Achilles

- Ajax, King of Megara, cousin of Achilles, the (tied) second greatest combatant in the Greek army, after Achilles

- Philoctetes, heir to the Throne of Meliboea, and the greatest Archer in the Greek army

- Agamemnon, brother of Menelaus, King of Mycenae, and overall commander of the Greek army

- Menelaus, King of Sparta, and husband of Helen. When Helen eloped with Paris, Menelaus called upon the oath to have the Greek Kings agree to give aid, and help to get her back.

Troy

Troy was one of the greatest Cities known to man. It stood on the coast of Turkey, with its impenetrable defences protecting her shores. Troy is famous for its walls – they stand over 25 meters in height, and, as of this time, no army has ever breached the wall of Troy. Between the City of Troy and the beaches of Greece stands a great plain, the site of the battle to come. The Trojan army is most famous, and feared, for its elite archery units, who can eliminate vast numbers of enemies in just one volley. Troy, whilst paying homage to all Olympians, worships Apollo, the Sun God, in preference to the other Olympians, and as such, they have the support of Apollo, and Aphrodite, in the war.

Notable Trojan Heroes, who are available as Player Characters, include:

- Hector, the son of Priam (the King of Troy), and brother of Cassandra, Helenus and Paris. The greatest soldier in, and commander of, the Trojan Army.

- Paris, the son of Priam, and brother of Cassandra, Helenus and Hector. After choosing love over power, and triumph in war, he caused the war by eloping with Helen from Sparta. A great archer, although struck by cowardice.

- Helenus, the son of Priam, brother of Paris and Hector, and twin of Cassandra.

- Deiphobus, the son of Priam, brother of Helenus, Paris, Hector and Cassandra.

- Aeneas, the son of prince Anchises and the goddess Aphrodite, and nephew of Priam.

- Sarpedon, King of Lycia, and one of Troy’s greatest allies

- Glaucus, Captain in the Lycian Army, and the Grand Son of the Hero Bellerophon.

- Memnon King of Ehiopia, and fierce warrior.

The Olympians - GM CONTROLLED

The Olympians are the twelve gods that rule over the world, from atop Mount Olympus. The Olympians have ruled over the Sky, Sea, and Land since the day that Zeus, King of the Olympians, overthrew the Titan King, his father, Kronos, and in the resulting war – the Titanomachy, defeated the Titans. There are 12 Olympian gods, who support various sides in the upcoming war.

- Zeus. King of the Gods, and the god of the Sky, and Thunder, whilst trying to remain neutral in the conflict, he secretly supports the Trojans.

- Hera, Queen of the Gods, and sister and wife of Zeus. Goddess of women and marriage, she is one of the three Goddesses who claimed to be the recipient of the Golden Apple, and supports the Greeks against the Trojans, along with her step daughter Athena.

- Poseidon – brother of Zeus, and Lord of the Sea; god of the seas, horses, and earthquakes. Poseidon, whilst remaining fairly neutral, leans more towards supporting the Trojans – a lean which increases as the war goes on.

- Aphrodite – Daughter of Zeus, goddess of love, beauty, desire, and fertility. Recipient of the Golden Apple, she supports the Trojans in the upcoming war.

- Apollo – Son of Zeus, and sister of Artemis, he is thegod of the sun; light, healing, music, poetry, prophecy, archery and truth, Apollo supports the Trojans in the upcoming war.

- Ares – Son of Zeus, and god of war, frenzy, hatred, and bloodshed. He is persuaded by his lover, Aphrodite, to support the Trojans in the war.

- Artemis - Daughter of Zeus, and Sister of Apollo, goddess of the hunt, of maidens, and the moon. Artemis plays little part in the war, although she does delay the Greek Army, ensuring they are unable to sail before Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter to her.

- Athena - Goddess of wisdom, crafts, and strategic battle, one of the three Goddesses who claimed to be the recipient of the Golden Apple, she supports the Greeks along with her step mother, Hera.

- Hephaestus – Son of Zeus, and husband of Aphrodite, Blacksmith to the Gods; god of fire and the forges, he remains neutral in the war, although he will produce new armour for the Greek hero Achilles in the wars later days.

- Hermes – Son of Zeus, and messenger of the Gods; god of commerce, speed, thieves, and trade. Hermes remains neutral in the war, preferring, as ever, to act as a messenger for the gods.

The Great War of the Magical Continent

The Intro

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived many kings and queens and princes and princesses. They lived in peace and harmony upon the Magical Continent, a place where dreams came true and people with pure hearts lived happily ever after. They were ruled by King Mickey, who reigned from his floating Castle that moved from place to place.

One day, an ugly old beggar woman arrived at the door of King Mickey’s castle, seeking shelter from the bitter cold. The King took pity on the poor creature, and let her in to stay for the night.

But appearances can be deceiving, and the ugly old beggar woman was not all that she seemed…in fact she was a highly trained assassin and demolitions expert.

As her host was sleeping, she took the opportunity to plant a series of explosives throughout the Castle, and triggered them as soon as the building was floating above the sea, sending Mickey and his court to a watery grave, while she herself escaped on a jetpack that she had concealed beneath her fake hunchback.

In the chaos that followed the assassination (promptly dubbed ‘Operation Mousetrap’), the various nations of the Magical Continent began to turn on each other, accusing one another of harbouring the villains responsible for this horrible deed.

Without anyone to keep the peace, tensions are suddenly mounting. Border disputes are rapidly escalating towards full blown conflicts, and the bigger nations are beginning to look greedily over at smaller lands for expansion opportunities.

It is now that the arms dealers emerge for the first time, whispering in the ears of paranoid monarchs, and selling their weapons of war.

The Nations

Agrabah. Ruled by the aging Sultan, though Royal Vizier Aladdin is expected to ascend to the throne soon with his princess, Jasmine. Agrabah is large, populous and powerful, matched only by…

China. Ancient and mystical, the Chinese Empire is governed largely by the Advisor to the Emperor, Mulan. Her young suitor, Chang, is the commander of the Chinese armies, and is currently preparing for war over a border dispute with their north-west neighbours…

Camelot. The teenage King Arthur is now becoming a young man, mentored by the eccentric Merlin. He has assembled a small group of loyal Knights, led by his best friend, the dashing Lancelot. Arthur is betrothed to Guinevere, younger cousin of Aurora, the Queen of…

Faerie. A quiet and green land, ruled by King Phillip. They are not eager to become involved in any conflict, but are more than willing to defend themselves if necessary, as well as the interests of their smaller ally…

Provence. More a collection of villages than a kingdom, this region is watched over by Prince Adam and Princess Belle from their castle in the forest. Rumours are rife that Adam has been afflicted once again with a rare transfiguring illness, though no one knows the full details. Provence is small and is watched closely by its neighbours across the water…

Neverland. An island country locked in a civil war between the Lost Boys of Peter Pan and the pirates of Captain Hook. Hook probably has more power in Neverland, if only because Pan has repeatedly shirked the opportunity to destroy his enemy, preferring to simply harass him. They are a strange people, but nowhere near as strange as the people of…

Halloween Town and Christmas Town. These two mysterious towns lie to the north-east of China, and are hidden away past the mountains. No one is quite sure about the people who live there, though it is known that tensions have been simmering between the two towns for quite some time. All it needs now is someone to stoke the fire…

The Guilds

If it wasn’t apparent by now, Disney lands are going to war with each other- and you play the arms dealers.

Imagine Princess Aurora’s castle besieged by an army of elephants, led by a lightsaber-wielding Aladdin. Imagine the Beast barking orders to a legion of archers from the top of a tank. Imagine Santa Claus leading an invasion of Halloween Town with a katana in one hand, an AK-47 in the other, riding a dragon instead of a sleigh.

And you’ll be the ones who make this all possible, convincing rulers of state to go to war, negotiating deals, backstabbing rulers by selling weapons to their enemies underneath their noses, supplying rebels and revolutionaries, and then sitting back and watching it all unfold while you rake in the gold.

There are two Guilds that have emerged in the arms business, and you have to choose which one to join.

The Guild of Armourers seeks to profit from the chaos and strife that is afflicting the Magical Continent. They turn nations against one another, supplying both sides in any conflict. From bulking up the stockpiles of superpowers to guiding the smaller countries towards bloody and futile wars, they are happy to deal in death and destruction, as long as there is a gold piece to be had.

They have access to the advanced and powerful Forbidden Weapons.

The Guild of Guardians seeks to put an end to unnecessary suffering by supplying weapons for the greater good, and not for their own good. They see war as an evil that will have to be tolerated for a lasting peace to be brought about, and they try and support the nations they believe have the fairest and most just cause.

They have access to the strange and mystical Heroic Weapons.

The Gameplay

Everyone begins with 10 000 gold coins, a horse, and an aide (one of the seven dwarves will be assigned to fill this role).

The game cycle begins with the production phase, which lasts one real time week. You will choose which items you wish to produce, and spend the money. In this stage you may also begin research into new products, communicate with other players, enjoy some leisure time, forge alliances with crimelords, build your own villas and mansions

The second stage of the game is the selling phase, which also lasts one real time week. The items you have produced will be stored in your very own Guild warehouse. Meanwhile, you will set off traveling to a nation of your choice (this can often be a dangerous journey- so it’s up to you choose between traveling in style or security) and then speak to the ruler of that country, persuading them to buy your weapons and items. You will usually be invited to stay in their palaces for a few days at a time. Note that the rulers will only place orders for items you have already produced.

Once they place an order, the items are automatically transported from your warehouse to the buyer by your Guild, so you don’t need to worry about that.

You then will be treated to an excerpt from Jiminy’s Journal, where you will be given a brief summary of the events that have passed during the last phase, as well as an overview of players’ current reputations.

This completes the cycle, and you return to the production phase.

As the game progresses, certain players will become favoured by certain nations, certain players will specialise in trading certain goods, new wars will begin and old ones will be brought to an end, new powers will emerge and new trading opportunities will arise. The gameworld will be constantly changing and developing in response to the weapons and items that you sell. You will have enormous influence over the rulers of these lands, and you may use that how you wish.

Sometimes your Guild will give you instructions or special assignments. You don’t have to obey (though it may benefit you to do so). Your actions don’t even have to be in keeping with the ethos of your Guild. You must, however, follow certain Guild rules, which are:

1. Always visit the buyer in person
2. You cannot take orders for what you do not already have in stock
3. Co-operation with other dealers is permitted, but not encouraged- it’s a dog eat dog world

The Goods

The weapons and items you can manufacture and then trade are listed below.

The number represents the cost to manufacture/produce/breed/tame one of that item. It’s pretty much set in stone, though they can fall as you become more famous and successful.

The price at which you sell your items will be dependent on your negotiation skills, your reputation, your nationality, and the generally accepted price for the item (which will be established once the game starts and the first sales are made).

Honor: The Highest Code

3045 AD.

Earth has reached an age of technological splendor. Space travel is a common occurrence. The Human Solar System has been fully explored with ease and several planets such as Pluto, Mars and Neptune have been successfully colonized. Through the discovery of Light-Warp Drive Technology, Humanity has begun to expand their territory to the far reaches of space. It was in neighboring solar systems that Humans discovered that there was indeed, intelligent life besides their own.

The names of the species discovered could not be pronounced in human tongue so an improvised namesake was created once their history was discovered. It was revealed that not only did the other species help shape Earth’s history, but had played a major part in the developmental periods of Humanity. Through more talks, Humans found that startling truth…

That they had been created as a game, to see which of the other superior galactic races could produce the best species from nothing. The game was to give subtle pushes to Humanity in their struggling times. Cavemen where the progenitors. Just the first failed attempt from the first visitors. Alien species had created all of the major landmarks on earth to mark their time there.

Stone Henge.
The Pyramids of Egypt.
The Grand Canyon.
Death Valley.
Chechen Itza.
The Louvre.
The Eiffel Tower.

All were left by an alien species marking their time on Earth, shaping the humans as they saw fit on their turn. Each major era was ushered in by different species. Technology was pressed into the hands of humans and a back story was created to play it off as human history.

The Bushido, The Templar, The Illuminati, The Pharaohs, and the Spartans. All generically responsible for all of Earth’s history. Of the 5 galactic societies, the Spartans where the most advanced, and the most feared. They were a species of nomadic warriors. The Spartans were the ones that started the Game with humans. But what they didn’t know was how things would come back to haunt them.

Through the various advancements of technology, humans had inadvertently become the strongest in the universe. The greatest mistake that all of the galactic societies had made was seeing the human race as primitives that needed guidance, they never took into account the power of Human Will.

Now the Spartans have waged a campaign against the Human Race to destroy what they had created. The other societies have refused to join the conflict directly, however are secretly waiting from behind the scenes, to see who will win the epic battle between what has been deemed Good, and Evil.

Each species has a different set of Codes that they live by. Some believe in Divinity. Others leaning heavily towards Power. They live by their Code. Regardless of what it may be. But one thing remains the same throughout all. Every species believes in Honor. The Highest…. of all the Codes.

Welcome! The year is 3045, the Spartans and the Human Race battle a long bloody war for galactic supremacy. Along the sidelines are the other races that helped shape human culture. Humanity was shaped in the collective image of the other galactic races.

-Bushido

The Bushido are the most revered among humans, having instilled into them the honor system of respect. The way of the Bushido is a large religion among Humanities warriors. With new breakthroughs of science, new weaponry has been created. Archaic Japanese swords have been re-created to fit the time period. Space pirates as well as security forces wield a vast array of phase shifting swords. (Phase shifting, see later in the description.) The Bushido are a lucid race of pointy eared humanoid beings. The longer the ears were in their society, the higher standing they had in the political scheme of their system. Instead of noses they have two slits of nostrils. Most have long fingernails and are extremely tall. Humanity would compare them to the fantasy characters of Elves. They wear oriental garbs by human standards. Loose, silken clothing with elaborate patterns. They are an honor bound society who gave the human race the Japanese culture of swordsmanship. The traditional swordsmanship of the Bushido people has been passed down for eons amongst the humans. The Bushido was the third in line to take a chance on shaping the humans as they are today. The Bushido society is one of the few that accept what the humans have accomplished on their own and if they had to choose a side in the war, would likely side with the Humans.

-Templar

The Templar were solely responsible for the middle ages. The Code of Chivalry was developed under their watchful eye and their government is a mirror image of what the pressed into the humans. They are ruled by a single king and a hierarchy. They believe heavily in respect of position over respect of an individual. The Templar have secretly kept personnel on Earth to help continue to shape Humans into their way of life, regardless of who was supposed to be doing it at the time. Humans have only recently discovered the roots of these individuals, at first believing them to be a secret society in and of themselves, pulling the strings of history to a religious end. They never knew how close of a guess that was…
The Templar traditionally wears tabards over flexible plated armor for their nobles, and simple garbs and rags for the dregs of their society. Typically, Templar’s have short haircuts and a very rigid bone structure. Their feet are divided by two toes and their hands with 3 fingers and an opposable thumb. It is also a hereditary trait that the Templar males have, by human standards, an unusually large amount of facial hair. Their warriors utilize a number of well known broad sword practices along with a super advanced version of medieval weaponry. The Templar’s where the fourth to help shape humanity.

- Illuminati

The Illuminati were the Race that gave humans the gift of knowledge. Their society is one of enlightened beings, relying on information over power. The Illuminati are seen as magicians and mystics. Their species having an inherent power over objects and people, being able to manipulate them with their minds. The Illuminati are generally a peaceful bunch, only consisting of small territories and few warriors. Their numbers only run into the hundred thousand range. Due to their lack of fighting prowess, the Illuminati have been prayed upon by the Spartans and the other Races for a full millennia. But given their brain capacity and skill with technology, the Spartans allowed the Illuminati to participate in the shaping of the Humans. Illuminati were the last people to touch the Human Race and gave them the mental capacity for a little more than just general thought. It was probably due to this, that the Human race took off on its own accord and began to advance at a stellar rate. Whether or not the Illuminati knew such events as the War with the Spartans would occur due to their actions, is unknown. The Illuminati are unnaturally tall beings with large craniums that possess two brains. Their hands are made up of 5 digits, the same as humans. However their fingers are almost all of 7 inches or longer. Unbeknownst to the rest of the galaxy, the Illuminati also planted scientists on Earth to give the Humans a leg up in technological advances. However even they did not predict what the rapidly evolving humans could produce. The Bio Spheres. (described later.) The Illuminati brought about the Code of Intelligence. The traditional clothing of the Illuminati are wispy garments of light fabrics that are more reminiscent of ceremonial human garbs.

-Pharaohs

The Pharaohs were the second Race to shape the humans. They are the most nostalgic of the races, creating the human culture in Egypt in the exact mirror image of their society. Had the humans been given the advanced science and technology that the Pharaohs possessed at the time, Humans would have likely revolted and destroyed themselves as well as a good portion of the Pharaoh culture. The Pharaohs are second in strength only to the Spartans in the grand scheme of things. They believe in a dictating society where a single being rules all. They are seen as ruthless tyrants who use any means necessary to gain more power. They possess high energy plasma technology that they integrate into their star ships and weaponry. They burn instead of pierce. The Pharaoh race are olive skinned humanoids with very severe eyes and handsome facial structures. Their bone structure is very defined and even. Their clothing is sparse at best, due to their culture liking to show off physical perfection. The high nobles of their social caste wear the stylistic face paint and canine God styled headwear, as did the human Pharaoh impersonating kings of ancient times. The Pharaohs brought about the Code of Power. The Pharaohs didn’t particularly advance humanity in any way, so much as it did simply use the humans as slaves to further their own personal honor in worshipping themselves. They are however extremely skilled warriors and tend to rely on curved bladed weapons and plasma weaponry in fights.

-Spartans

The Spartans were the first and last to shape the humans. The Spartans are a proud Warrior race of extremely large humanoids. They were the species that decided to hold an intergalactic contest to see who could mold the human race into the best servants in the universe. They saw Humans as a means of entertainment. To bring the rest of the universe into a joint project for fun. The Spartans could destroy any of the other races easily, however they do not out of respect for what they have created and what they are capable of. Nearing the end of the second term that the Spartans had on Earth, they saw how advanced the Humans were becoming and attempted to end the species with a world inflicted genocide. However the Humans had become too strong. With technology and will to live, the Humans pushed the Spartans off of their world and back into space. Seeing their strength for what it was, and finally realizing their biggest mistake, the Spartans declared an all out war on the Human Race, stating that they would undo their mistake. The humans decided that they weren’t ready for extinction and have been fighting back rather fiercely. Both sides have caused mass casualties to the other. The Spartans have assimilated almost every aspect of the other cultures and have used it to their advantage in killing the Humans. They did not take into account that the humans had developed their own technology to battle the Spartans with. The Spartans are the most similar when brought in direct comparison to Humans. They are normally slightly taller and much more muscular than an average human but Humans can sometimes grow to the same size as an average Spartan to be used as spies. The Spartans wear full body armor almost at all times. The colored stripes on the sides of their armor is an indication to status, Red being the highest combatants, Black being a sign of Nobility, and white being simple soldiers. The nobles of the Spartan Race often wear red silken capes and cloaks around their armor as an emphasis of their status. The Spartans created and live by the Code of Battle. The Spartans themselves have a special bloodline trait that only appears in their species. It is the ability to enter a “Berserker” state. Their bodies gain twice the muscle mass that was possessed previously and their skin turns red. The canine teeth in their mouth grow to look like fangs and they enter a state of uncontrolled bloodlust. The Spartans have perfected every aspect of physical combat. Whether it be with any type of weaponry, or hand to hand. They are masters of combat.

-Humans

The Humans have been the object of much scrutiny throughout the ages. They were created by the Spartans who decided to start shaping a Race, letting all of the other races under Spartan rule to participate in creating the perfect servants. The Humans had been previously considered as incompetent and thought to never amount to anything worth mention. The Illuminati and Samurai however, saw the potential in the fledgling race. Both species helped boost the understanding and capabilities of the Humans and in turn found that the Humans utterly and completely surpassed them in every way. It was disturbing at first for the Humans to find out that they were play things to begin with. Human history had been completely fabricated around lies for them to believe in. In 3030, they ventured to the stars and discovered the truth of their origins. Around the same time, the Spartans invaded and tried to wipe them from the galaxy. The humans were too strong at this point for the forces that the Spartans presented and in turn pushed them away. The humans have taken their technology and upgraded it to new heights recently, pushing the barriers of what was thought possible a year prior. In 3045, the Humans have unleashed an all new type of weapon. The Biotic Spheres. Tiny nano machines that are integrated into the body. The machines possess a super advanced artificial intelligence that allows the brain to interact with other, like objects of the same nano type, via a neural cortex connection. The machines are implanted into the human’s brain and blood stream. The brain segment allows for full control of mass energies in the air. With practice, these machines allowed a human to innately copy the Illuminati’s natural abilities and mold them to their own uses. Manipulation of objects is a common feat among the upgraded human beings. The other main advancement in technology was two fold with the Biotic Spheres. With the discovery of the Bio Spheres also came the possibility of Phase Shifting. Phase Shifting was the form that objects took when transforming from a latent state into their purpose form. An example of such was that a simple metallic rod would break down and phase shift into a key, made to fit any lock of that type. Many weapon smiths have integrated this technology with their weapon forging practices to create a hybrid type of weapon. Swords were loaded with bio spheres, allowing the latent form of the sword to appear as a simple hilt. When activated from the signals from the brain the sword would quickly piece itself together from chunks of nothingness, starting at the hilt and working to the tip of the blade. It always came back to the same sharpness and structure. Once the phase shift was completed, the blade itself would take on an eerie glow from the Bio spheres. This technology has made the Human Race the most feared and respected race in the known universe to date. Upgraded Humans are easily identifiable due to the Bio Spheres in their brains. Their eyesight is exponentially enhanced and due to the spheres in the eyes, it causes them to glow with that color of sphere. The Spheres also enhance the physical attributes of the human’s body. Muscle mass, Speed, Reflexes. Almost anything is possible with the Bio Spheres.

Rules

No Trolling, Flaming all of the TOS rules are in affect
No Godmodding
Keep the Language PG-13 at max
No killing off of other characters without explicit permission from the GM and the Characters handler.
Play your character realistically. If you place them in a dangerous situation and can’t explain their way out of it in a way that does not God mod then the GM will have them removed from play. Death of the character or simple imprisonment depends on the type of situation presented at the time.
Bio Spheres are NOT an end all. They take concentration to use. For perspective, the use of Bio Spheres is very much like trying to sing the national anthem in perfect pitch while sprinting uphill. It is difficult and is done only through practice.
Bio Spheres also, when used create a glow. This is not like Star Wars and the Force. The Force is invisible. The Sphere energy is visible. Taking the shape of a misty or solid cloud depending on the usage.
Above all. Have fun.

Character Sheet

---Race: ( Choose from one of the 6 available above )
---Gender: (Male/Female)
---Age: (Realistic for humans, go nuts on the other races)
---Hair Style: (Try to keep it based towards the description of the races themselves)
---Hair Color: (Any color you want your hair to be)
---Eye Color: (Dependant on humans to what color Bio Spheres are in their brains. All other Races are free to do as they please for eye color)
---Physical build/traits: (What does your character look like physically?)
---Clothing: (Keep it within the realm of race description, Humans have a bit more freedom here)
---Profession: (You can be whatever you want, from a weapon smith, to a pirate, to a soldier, to a freelancer of any Race, the universe is your playground)
---Armor: (Again, stylistic towards the certain Race’s, and again, Humans have the freedom of unlimited customization here.)
---Habits: (What does your character do when bored?)
---Weaponry: (Stylistic towards the Race, Pharaohs are more hooked weaponry and plasma staffs, things like that. Humans will use pre existing weaponry what has been upgraded to fit the 30th century. Spartans are free reign, given they have all cultures in theirs. Illuminati can create energy weapons from their manipulation powers. IE, an energy bo staff from midair is completely possible. Templar weaponry is going for a 30th century medieval feel. Crossbows with golden energy arrows produced from the weapon. Etc. Samurai, obviously Japanese swords and bows of the like. All pistol weapons will be based off of either energy or plasma projectiles. Be forewarned that Bio Sphere enhanced weapons CAN block these, if user is skilled enough.)
---Type of Bio Sphere: (If applicable, Blue for mind power specialty, Red for melee and physical combat. having one doesn’t mean the character is lacking in the other)
---Bio: ( What is your characters story? Free reign here. Give me a good story!

Calypso's Raider

My name is Dario Bastion, and I've been called many things throughout the course of my life, most of them too inappropriate to speak of now. I'm the captain of a pirate ship called Calypso's Raider, and no, not the pirate ship you normally hear about that travels on water. You see, rather than traveling among fish, my ship travels among the stars. The endless vacuum of outer space is the Raider's true home, and it's where most of me and my crew's time is spent.

We're what you call space pirates. We're similar to the traditional pirates you hear about in books and movies, only without the stench, overgrown beards, lack of intelligence, and oldschool weaponry. We hop from planet to planet, stealing, plundering, raiding, backstabbing, anything that gets us money, we do. And we have fun while we're doing it, because after all, it's a very lucrative business.

And the best part? We're recruiting.

Rules:

*The TOS must be obeyed at all times.

*Correct spelling and proper grammar is imperative. Please be sure that you have corrected any typos you may have made, as it will make life easier for anyone reading while making you a better roleplayer.

*Please do not spam, bait, or use any other method of thread derailment.

*This game will progress in a realistic manner. Please do not create characters you envision as invincible, for they will not be treated as such.

*Character sheets must be PMed to me for approval BEFORE posting.

*Let's have a good time, shall we?

Planets

*Hera - The most popular and technologically advanced planet in the galaxy, Hera is the central hub for activity in the galaxy with skyscrapers stretching into the clouds above and floating ships zooming along predetermined routes at breathtaking speeds. The law is enforced by indestructable and immensely intelligent cyborgs, while the people are very diverse in race and ideals.

*Triton - A predominantly aquatic planet with myriad underwater cities and establishments throughout, Triton is the main oceanic tourist attraction in the galaxy, inhabiting a prodigious amount of diverse aquatic life. The cities are built within pressure proof domes of a solid yet transparent material, with long spherical tubes linking them together. The people that reside here wear small amounts of clothing and have a natural affinity to water, thus making them very physically fit with broad lung capacities.
