Welcome to the awesome, the amazing, the amiable ... Autumn RPF Awards of 2006!! It's been a whole season since the last one, so be sure to read the entire post for any changes, and surprises.

Purpose of the Awards

No doubt you know by now that the purpose of these Awards is not singular, but rather diverse. The best and brightest characters aren't created overnight, nor are the most alluring of games. A certain degree of skill, a stroke of good fortune, and some serious dedication are often required to make a success whether you're a player in this realm, or one of its game masters.

Among other things, these awards have been created not simply to recognise, but to honour and praise such extraordinary members for their talent, and power of presence. The winners are voted by each and every one of you, so, really, you get to decide who (or what) you believe is the most deserving of such awards.

VIPships, remember, are more than just pretty colours to show off to your friends, they're a sign that you have been granted a rare honour by your peers, one that we know will not be taken for granted. We trust, as always, that you, winner or not, will continue to provide a shining example for us all to follow.

How it works

Awards are held four times per year, in April (Spring), July (Summer), October (Autumn) and January (Winter).

The four categories for awards are:
Best GM
Best Roleplayer
Best RPG
Best New RPG

New RPGs are defined as any active game less than three (3) months old, residing in only one (1) thread (ie, multi-thread games are not eligible for this category). RPGs must be active (ie, no locked threads may be nominated).

Voting will consist of two rounds. Round 1 will last for five (5) days after the opening of the Awards. During this time, anyone may nominate any active RPG or player. Once a thread/player has been nominated once, please refrain from nominating them again. One nomination is sufficient to save a spot on the ballot. Users may not nominate themselves for awards. All users may make a total of two (2) nominations per category, so choose wisely!

Round 2 begins immediately after the results of Round 1 are posted. A list of all the nominees will be compiled for members to pursue. You will then have seven (7) days to PM your votes from the choices to the host. Users will have the option of voting for up to three (3) people in the Best RPer and best GM categories, and up to two (2) games in the Games categories.

At the end of Round 2, the winners will be announced.

It should also be noted that any RPG that wins an award becomes ineligible for next season's awards, to ensure fairness and variety. Any players who win awards will be ineligible until the next year.

Also note that campaigning (ie, soliciting votes and/or nominations) at any time during the awards, in any thread, in any forum, is considered spamming. Such actions will result in a warning and/or ban. Make this fun for everyone and allow the RPF patrons to vote however they desire.

Prizes

As always, the part you've all been waiting for.

The winning GM and Roleplayer will each be awarded VIPship (with the ability to choose custom colors) for one week. In addition, they will earn a place in the "RPF Hall of Fame" in the Community Centre. The winning RPGs will receive a special place in the introductory sticky thread, as well as the right to the title of "Best RPG," until the next season's winners are announced.
