De aia am pus cuvantul cearta in ghilimele. Cum am zis, am vazut mai rau in grupul de D&D si de 40k dupa care ne-am calmat si am continuat fara probleme. I'm used to this sort of stuff - doar nu am chef sa vad chestii de genul asta chiar oricand.

Astfel romanii sunt indemnati sa se uite pe cer luni noaptea, in jurul orei 0:30, cand Luna ar fi concurata ca dimensiuni si stralucire de planeta Marte. Se mai spune ca ar fi o ocazie unica pentru ca Marte nu ar mai fi atat de aproape de Pamant decat in 2287.

Marte mai mare decat luna? 
 No, really, can that actually happen?
Let's do some figuring.
First, the distances:
-mean distance between Earth and Sun: 1AU - concidentally 
-mean distance between Mars and Sun 1.5AU approx.
The minimum distance between Mars and Earth is obtained when the two planets are aligned.
Although the orbits are eliptical - and since I don't feel like taking eccentricity into account - we'll just settle the minimum distance between Earth and Mars at 0.5 AU.
Just in case you're wondering:
1AU = 149,597,870,691 give or take 30 meters.
So, pseudo-minimum distance between Earth and Mars is greater than 70,000,000 km
-mean distance between Earth and Moon: 384,403 km
Now, let's talk size!
And by "size", I mean diameter, not mass.
-diameter of the Moon: 3,474 km
-diameter of Mars: 6,772 km (only about twice as big!)
Finally, what's the Moon to Mars ratio?
Ratio = Moon_Diameter/Mars_Diameter * Mars_Distance/Moon_Distance
Ratio =(approx) 3,474km/6,772km * 70,000,000km/384,403km = 93.41
Though we've made some approximations of the kind which I don't recommend for serious issues, the fact of the matter is that the Moon appears to be more than 90 times the size of Mars, in the best-case scenario.
So there's no way that "prediction" can be true.
That is, unless the logic is flawed (possible, but please let me know if you find such a flaw).
EDIT:
If we take into account the shape of the orbits (eliptical - well they're not exactly eliptical, but it's close enough) and go for an absolute minimum:
Mars at Perihelion: 206,669,000 km
Earth at Aphelion: 152,097,701 km
Pseudo minimum distance: 54,571,299 km
That would be, if the orbits of Mars and Earth were on the same plane, which they're not, because of the tilt:
Mars Inclination 1.850°
5.65° to Sun's Equator
Earth Inclination Reference (0)
7.25° to Sun's equator
To take the tilt into account, I'd have to know the positions of the two orbits relative to each other (i.e where are they tilted compared to the other planet's perihelion or aphelion)- haven't found this yet.
However, even then, I'd just have the minimum distance between the two orbits, without having a clue when or if the planets ever reach that relative position.
Well, it wasn't exactly pointless, because I got the order of magnitude of the minimum Moon-Mars ratio: x0 (in the tens).

That's just it: it's flying, not hovering.
Hovering is what choppers have on airplanes in the first place.
Anyway, that small propeller in the back combined with the shape of the rotor blades give it enough lift.
