Controversial or not Michael Jackson had a great musical carrer earlier in his life and now to hear both Farrah Fawcett a female icon in the acting world and the King of Pop in the music world is almost is shocking!

Just curious to know what everyone's thoughts are on hearing these 2 icons are now gone. Please without the allegations we all know what happened because you can't take away what they did earlier in the career.

I just meant for today LOL because Ed died on Tuesday..However, yes Ed McMahon was an icon for being Johnny Carson's sidekick, publisher's clearance house and of course Star Search

I would never consider Farrah an "acting" icon, unless you were using her as an example as to what not to do. She was a physical icon, she was "the" blonde bombshell of the 70's and early 80's.

As for MJ, i will always give him credit for his music and performances. His personal life however will forever haunt and tarnish what was a marvelous career.

Like with most others, it was shocking when I heard the news about both stars, but especially about Michael since I was really into his music, at least all the up until Thriller.

He was a big icon, and like Elvis, the Beatles, Marylin Monroe, James Dean, etc. etc. he will become a legend, a myth (as in icon not as in not real) for modern times, for better or for worse.

Farrah actually had some great points in her acting I thought. Although I never really got into the show, she was great in Charlie's Angels (considering that it was an escapist show, yet feminist in its heroic aspects) and she played a good role in Logan's Run (1976) (which is getting closer to us Star Wars geeks' territory, since it's sci fi even though not space epic! grin ). Needless to say, she was really nice looking! Both she and Michael will be '70s-and-beyond icons for this '70s geek!

May they both rest in peace and the Force be with them.

P.S. Speaking about the Force, we should remember the part Michael played in the Star Wars universe when he played in Captain Eo for Disneyland's three-d feature attraction! (It wasn't quite Star Wars but it was produced by Lucas and was Star Wars-like because of!)

For me Bad was a really good album as well..It had a few good hits. Dangerous was also very underrated in my book. It wasn't as good as Thriller or Bad but overall it was a very good album. Thriller A+, Bad A- and Dangerous around B..B-

Good to hear from you JDK happy
