	I was in the mood one day for a little Star Wars action and put in Episode I: The Phantom Menace and the more I watched it, I became intrigued and fascinated by one of the main characters in the movie. No, I am not talking about Jar Jar either! It was Darth Maul! The more I watched it the more I liked him and his character, so I decided what the heck. I have Darth Vader, I am working on my Stormtrooper, why not do Maul as well? Well, I have taken the plunge and found a site on EBay that sells complete Maul costumes (minus gloves and boots) for around $100.00. I have a spare pair of Vader gloves and boots that I can use for now. I also ordered me a mask and I might see if I can get the wife to release her inner artist one day and see if I can't do a face paint. The one thing that I am lacking right now is the double saber and I am watching EBay like a hawk! I thought I found one, but someone jacked the price up more that what I could afford. I hope to have it completed soon. I agree. 	OK. Here's a brief update on Operation Paul Maul. Mighthave to change that, I sound like a cigarette! I was on "the Bay" last night and won a single Darth Maul lightsaber. It has the attachment to hook it to another and make that big ol' honkin' saber. I am currently watching another one right now and there are two more that I am keeping my eyes on just in case some one goes more than I want to pay. I heard Hasbro was going to release the Force FX sabers sometime soon and the prices that I have seen online have been a bit high. I also heard from the guy who is making my costume. He got my measurements and will start to work on it soon. I am looking forward to getting this and see how it all comes together. Might be able to pull it off. Don't know. Wife might kill me. 	OK. The mask has arrived and the thing actually fit. I had heard stories from other SW fans about how big it was, but I guess I am lucky I have such a big head! My first half of my Darth Maul saber came today and I am a little unhappy. The ad on EBay said that this was for a "new" Darth Maul light saber. I get the thing and it is not in it's box, the stickers are gone, the blade has some scratches on it and the connector is missing! I have a second one on the way and, well if that one doesn't have that connector, I am fracked! I was really getting excited about this new costume and so far it is not going to too good. I sent the store an e-mail about it and let's see what happens next. 	OK. A brief update. I am getting a little more excited now, as my second saber arrived and it was in the original box and had my precious connector in it. I want to personally thank Rip for the offer to let me borrow one of his connectors he has for the Maul saber. I had to take them both out and hook them up. I don't think the dogs liked them at all. The only thing that I am waiting on now is my costume from Hong Kong. 	Any time Darth - I was going to let you have the connector - that's what FRIENDs do! Your going to be really intimidating as Maul - I'll have to wear mine along side you for kicks! Hope yours comes in before Halloween too. SPEAKING of Halloween - my wife has great plans for me again - it seems I can't get away from skirts, tights, and now a Merman VERY GLOSSY (Disco looking) legging/tail. Yes - that's right - RipRoar wil be King Triton (Spelling?) from Disney's Little Mermaid to go along with Daughter who will be Aerial and wife Ursula (Octopus evil witch). Another year of not wearing PANTS! All for my daughter and wife - I do love to help her out in costume play though. Our family lives for this! 	An update from Operation Maul. The costume is here and it fit! Just a couple of adjustments to it that my wife says she can do. 1) The zipper to the inner robe needs a little repair, 2) the belt is actually too big for me and needs to be taken it a little, and 3)there is a piece of fabric about 2 feet long that hangs from the belt in front and when the belt got here, it was pleather and much shorter. Just a couple of mends. I might end up replacing the pants. They are supposed to be a karate/kung fu style. When it arrived, I couldn't resist trying it on. I went out on the garage, got my mask and my spare Vader boots and put the thing on. You have never heard so much dog barking! Luckily the German Shepherd knew it was me. I like the way it looks! Going to try and get some pics soon up on MySpace when I get a chance and get everything sorted out. Can't wait for y'all to see it. So, you are going to be King Triton for Halloween, Rip. Rip the merman! That ought to be a sight to behold. You need to work on the hair and grow you a beard! Can't wait to see it! 	OK. Today we finally got around to doing some mods on the Darth Maul costume. The wife had been promising to do this for a couple of weeks now, so we decided to take care of it today. The belt itself was the hard part. Her sewing machine is set up for pleather so we had a bit of a rough go of it for a bit. Ended up cutting about 4 inches off the belt. It was longer than I thought, but it fits good now. She took some of my old cape that I used when I did Darth Vader for Halloween back in 2006 and cut out a piece for the front. It looks great! The belt is a little wider that it should be, but I am going to have to settle for that now. She took some thread and made a stopper at the top of the zipper and also set a hook and eye on the top to close it up. Now, after this was done I couldn't resist trying it all on. I like it! Now this was without the mask, gloves and boots, but it looked good. When I was first working with it earlier and had just my inner and out coats on, my wife said I looked like a priest! I put the robe on and then it was a priest from Van Helsing! It is coming along nicely and I am looking forward to going out Halloween and also showing SFF it for the first time. I will see if I can't get some pics up for Halloween and get them posted on my MySpace page. 	Little bit of an update on Maul. We went to Hancock Fabrics in GSO and got some material for the wife to redo/replace the hood. The one that is on the robe now is a little small and doesn't flow down the back at all the way it should. We got 2 yards of black fabric that very closely resembles the material the robe is made out of. I am going to see if I can get the wife to take some before and after pics of the robe and get them on my MySpace page. This costume is coming along nicely. The wife is not a huge Star Wars fan like me but she is a great seamstress and she says she loves a challenge. She also has an artistic flair that comes in handy. 	OK. guys! Maul has been completed! It was a long journey through the Dark Side and I would not have been able to make it without the help of my "Padame", aka Elane, the wife. The costume I got from Cosplaying was a good one, but needed a couple of mods and repairs. Well, one modification turned into another and another. Here is the list of the mods that we did. 1) Shortened the belt up by four inches, 2) Change the front sash attached to the belt, 3) Repaired the zipper on the inner coat and added and hook at the top, 4) stiched the lapel on the out coat to make it lay down better, 5) replaced the hood all together and 6) shortened the robe by a good 6-8 inches. I have taken some pics of the robe with the old hood and the new hood. I got them on MySpace. 	Shave my head? Hmmmm May have to think on that one. I shaved my beard and moustache here recently and the wife had a fit! She said I looked like a teenaged pervert! I am wanting to do some other mods to the costume. I need a new belt and boots and I really want to upgrade my lightsaber with the Ultrasaber upgrade. Thanks for the comments. I will relay them to my "Padame". She will appreciate the nice remarks about her work. 	I agree, the costume looked wonderful! I miss going out in costume...do you guys think we could pull off a charity function any time soon? If you're interested I have a great idea!!! A coworker and good friend of mine has signed on to do 26months of medical relief work in Sub-Saharran Africa starting in April....she could use a little support....hint hint....

	I was looking at my pics of Maul and here is what I need still to do to get it up to "specs". 1) New pants- I need the martial arts style, 2) A new belt- The one that I have seen is only 6" wide and leather, 3) New boots- The Frank Thomas boots that Ray wore in the movie are no longer made and if you find some they are expensive and I can't afford the Motor Cowboy ones. I am going to upgrade my Maul saber with the Ultrasaber upgrade eventually. They are so cool! Now for the funny side of Maul and Halloween. We Trick-or-Treated around my neighborhood and had several nice compliments about my costume and one guy even asked me if I was the one dressed as Vader last year. Well, we were on the final leg of our trip when someone came out of a house brandishing a light saber. I think it was Lukes. Well here I am doing my best Sith Lord when the batteries in one of my sabers dies and the to top it all off, my belt fell off!! So here I am fixing to duel with one half of my saber gone and my belt and sash around my feet! Needless to say, I think I lost!
