I'll be there. I just ordered archive covers for this book and for the Monster House one.

I hope I don't get banned from a post I made on another board relating to this book...this book that was made about a movie which does not exist. But, well, I couldn't resist, and so if you guys don't see me around you'll know why. tongue

I got my book from Amazon today, but I have to return it. It was packaged very poorly and the corner of the cover is bent and dog eared >:( So now I guess if I want a signed book I will have to pay full price at the store. It figures!

There is a cute photo of Carrie in the ceremonial costume I've never seen. It shows a hint of the train too... Ooops, sorry. This isn't the costume and props board!

Anyway, my goal is to go to the book signing and hopefully get an undamaged book there! Good Grief.

Mine was sent out on a Thursday and arrived on a Saturday. It may be faster to just order another copy and just return the one you have. I choose the standard shipping which was only $3.99. 2 day shipping is $11.99. And looking at te Book Passage site, they did not have the hardcover for order and may not necessarily have it. So even with the extra cost of 2 day shipping, it's still a savings over the $75 cover price.

That sounds like an idea. I didn't see the hardcover version in any store so far. You could just tell them you need it for a signing, and hopefully, they can replace it in time.

Rinzler will also be at CIV signing the book, but that may eat up time waiting for a signature...but it's an option. Sorry to hear about that Kaydee.

Are you kidding? The store wouldn't have it in stock for the book signing? Nope, Amazon probably won't replace it in time. I think they should overnight it for free since it was their fault, but it doesn't work that way I guess.

you could try this 1-800-201-7575 or 1-206-266-2992 it's Amazon's customer service # and it's 24/7.

I would think they'd have it there for the book signing. That would seem the opposite of what they'd want if they go to the trouble of having it, and don't have the books.

When I first heard of the signing, I called several bookstores and asked for the hardcover version. One couldn't find it in their database, another said it would come out later, and one said they hadn't ordered it. Weird.

Usually the point of a book signing is to sell books at the store. So I really hope the book store actually stocks some hard cover books for this event. I think the best thing to do is call the book store holding the event. But I'm waiting to see if I hear back from Amazon customer service to see if they'll arrange to waive the shipping and give me a new book in time.

A few months before this book came out an E-Book was published by Michael Kaminsky, AKA Zombie84 on boards of TFN, originaltrilogy.com, and outerrimseiges.com. It is called The Secret History of Star Wars and is and exhaustive research into the origins of the original trilogy from the first inceptions to what finally made it to screen. Culled from a vast well of available sources a clear picture of what the original versions of thjese films emerge. It's raised a few hackles among saga fans, but the research is well cited and annotated. It runs ovcer 400 pages of pure text, so it's a heavy read. I had to pint it out and get it bound at Staples since it's too much to read on a screen. But it's an excellent book that serves as a companion piece to Rinzler's Making of Star Wars. Neither of these books really refute each other too in the recounting of the evolution of the story and scripts.

http://secrethistoryofstarwars.com/ the book is a PDF file. Also under the articles section of the site is a long extensive comparison of just how much Kurosawa's style influenced Lucas. No surprise that this is a fairly long section since Zombie himself is a Cameraman and cinematographer.

I sent them an e-mail, I should get a new one today. Hopefully it will be packaged better and not dropped by the delivery person.

Amazon delivered mine today. Now I have to find a clear protective cover for it. The ones I use for my other hardcover books are short width-wise by about 2 inches. sad

I ordered mine as a roll that can be custom cut. It worked out better for me as I still have yet to cover my ILM book and my Monster House one. I can give you the link to the eBay seller that I got mine from. They are pretty inexpensive compared to buying sheet by sheet like at Stacy's.
