Alison, they start letting people in the park at 6 pm, so maybe you can get there a little before to get good parking. Perhaps you and Rachel can carpool or something. Dale and I will be coming straight from a wedding. Hopefully, we'll be there between 5:30 and 6 pm. I guess whoever gets there first should call the others and save a spot. See you there!

RE: Star Wars in the Park
I'm coming up with two other friends and our plans for the day before the movie aren't finalized yet. One of them mentioned last night taking a route via the Richmond Bridge... looking at the map, that looks like we'd be going up the other side of the bay - not sure why, though I suppose it's equal distant from here. We also might be visiting one of my friends' mom in San Rafael before the movie. The other thing I'm not sure of is where we're headed afterwards; one of them mentioned going out to the Bethel Island area to stay with her relatives there so we didn't have to drive all the way back south... but looking at the map, I'm not sure that would be much shorter, and just for myself I'm hoping to head back south. Rachel, let me get back to you a bit later, after I have a chance to figure out what's up down here. I'll give you a call.
Getting there around 6 or a bit before sounds good to me. I looked at the google satellite image, and there didn't seem to be an overaboundance of parking around.

RE: Star Wars in the Park
Wow, that was awesome! Not only getting to see the film with a big crowd, but in costume, AND with surprise guest "projectionist"
BEN BURTT!!!
Mr. Burtt gave about a 30 minute presentation as to how he got into the film business, how he got involved with
Star Wars
, and how he created some of the most popular sounds in film history.
Considering myself somewhat of an expert of behind-the-scenes footage and photos from
Star
Wars
, I was happy to see things even I'd never seen, like hair tests for Carrie Fisher (Kathy, I think you would've enjoyed that
), home movies of him recreating sounds, and rare photos from his personal collection, some of which aren't even in the new "Making Of" book!
The film was great, especially when Obi-Wan hands Luke his father's lightsaber, I turned on my f/x saber at the same time, and the crowd went nuts! Likewise, when Luke puts on his blast shield practicing onboard the Falcon, Dale stood up with his blast shield and saber, and recreated the scene. What can we say, we're performers!

Great pics! We'll have to add them to the SFFF gallery too. Maybe bring a copy of them on CD for me on Tuesday Matt?
Ah, I spotted Ben Burtt in your photos. Darn, I missed a Carrie Hair test! Well, I would have been there if I wasn't in Atlanta. I can't be in multiple places at once. *sigh* Maybe that footage will make it to a DVD one day?

RE: Star Wars in the Park
Alison gave me her photos from the Star Wars in the Park event last year. I've added them to the SFFF photo album:
http://sffanforce.com/gallery/sw-in-the-park/index.htm
I couldn't find a thread about this other event... but some of the SFFF members went to the Northern California Ren Fair and Alison gave me those photos to add to the web site too.
