sithlordblack posted: Hey guys,
I just want to say hi and thank Matt for the great job he did with the event. It was alot of fun. Matt did a great job and took care of everyone there. AS for being one of the 40 that got picked,it wasnt a big deal. all it meant was that we had to be there till 12:10 am to get the game. Most of all were ready to go home long before that. Best Buy and Mary were great and the staff took care of everyone in costume. It reaaly was one of those cool events to be a part of and have new member come out and really experince the fun of costumeing and sharing the loveof starwars. Thats why I go in costume, not for the free stuff but for the experience with friends and other people in public that have never seen costumes, especially younger kids when there eyes light up when you show your lightsaber for trooper rifle. Also, thanks to the 501st for allow Rl and SFFF to be part of the event. Everyone there was great and it was so much fun. The only thing that sucked was that none of us got VIP to hang out with George. We all tried. BUt there is always next time. Thanks again Matt for the great job and if you need help with any event let me know,it doesnt matter if I get free stuff or not.
I'm gonna assume this was more to me than anyone else concerning this repeat of "free" stuff... lol... Interesting (not sarcastic mind you)... Maybe you seem to think me poor with like no income and can't afford stuff... hmm... I wonder how that applied when on a whim, I choose to buy TWO Jedi Mickey statues which some would consider the height of spending spree insanity...
Anyway, as you said, you WERE apart of the 40 that got picked so you can't imagine how the members of RL feel nor the further details of what some of us had to do and rearrange in order to be even considered eligible for this event. Further more you are correct, THIS IS NOT ABOUT FREE STUFF. Therefore, when I mentioned my initial annoyance concerning this event I don't recall mentioning getting shafted for free stuff. LOL Hey free stuff is great but I'm not gonna base an entire potential fun event or something for free stuff. Furthermore I wasn't attacking Matt, Matt does an excellent job and always looks out for people the best he can. My protest came with the Rebel Legion's own crap policies and politics as well as LFL's.
My mandatory retirement from the RL is due to this because I hate stress and annoyance and I will obliterate all sources of unneeded stress and annoyance from my life cos that's how I roll. I'm the one that drinks (socially ) and "doesn't care" and when something disturbs my calm then I will take action to correct gross injustice. I'm not negative, I just hate everything equally , but I'd glady help an event if I deem it worthy but this one failed in my book.
So to sum up... err... I'm not exactly sure what to say about that other than the above, free stuff is good but not life, err... Matt is still tops in my book... err... I still quit the RL cos it's disturbing my calm... and congrats for being in the 40 SLB? I think?
Oh and if I wanted to... this could have been easily on the RL boards which did occur to me but that was an action that would have been virtually a declaration of war with them which is never my intention. I spared Matt and Kat that fate because I DIDN'T want to blow this up there and I knew they'd read these boards but I think they have their own fires to put out other than this one here which was just me speaking my mind. I can still do that yea? This is America still? Or did something happen after I took my nap just now? Did the French finally win a war or something? Has hell Hothed over? Oro?

I'm glad to see that everyone who came had a good time. Whenever I help plan an event, bi or small, its always in the back of my mind of if it will be a hit or not. But not since the Virgin Megastore events has a midnight event in SF been so high-profile, had such a large attendance, and was an overall great success!
Thanks to all groups involved - SFFF, GGG, CCG, RL, R2 Builders and LFL.

Jedi_Tenken posted: Sorry Kat, I don't share your optimistic appraisal of the situation... what should be a fun event turned into an excuse to force people to complete their registrations for RL, submit whatever to LFL, and be judged to the point for them to just say "sorry we want stormies and Vader" Oh!
Matt and I had zero say over who LFL ultimately chose out of roughly 60 people who applied for 40 positions. Perhaps if only 25 501st members applied then more RL members would have been able to be official volunteers. Neither LFL or our club members/organizers knew just how many people would apply at the start.
As for RL, nothing was an "excuse" to have people update their profile. I've been encouraging this all along as Base CO, I took your updated Jedi submission photos before I ever knew about the Force Unleashed event didn't I? I've been encouraging other members for months to update their profiles because you all have great costumes that deserve to be shown off and worn at events other than conventions Fact of the matter is, people tend to put off submitting their costumes until they have a reason to finally do it (ie, an event they want to be part of). The Rebel Legion has a club charter, I didn't write it but I have some obligation as base CO to try to stick to it for big events - and the charter essentially says that people need to have an RL approved for events we are requested to appear at. So, that's why I encourage people to update their profiles or apply ahead of time so it's easier for them to sign up for events when they come about.
I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. They'd rather just wear what they want to conventions or do events that come through fan force and not the Rebel Legion. To each his own, I respect whatever people want to do or whatever they are comfortable with. Clubs like the 501st and Rebel Legion are not for everyone, but there are a lot of fun things that are offered to both groups so I've had fun being a member of both.
And you know, people should just talk to Matt or I if they are feeling upset about something. Maybe they misunderstood something? Maybe if they were like Charles and just asked, they may have found that sure, it was no problem for Matt to include them on his list to Mary. People need to speak up, but I suggest a personal conversation rather than message boards.
The criteria for the event INSISTED we had to do all these things to be even elligable. Otherwise I could care less about updating my profile. Oh... but I did after my annoyed post.... lol... Actually I don't think "up"date is correct... "down"date is more like it. muhahaha... Actually maybe I shouldn't delete it cos it's kinda funny the way it is. Ha... I kinda like that idea. Anyhow, as I mentioned to you Kat, grips go up the chain of command (reference Saving Private Ryan for that). Did I post this directly on the RL boards? Nope... I just wanted my point across, one way or the other... But I still can if you want me to? Yes? No? I'm gonna guess NO...
Here's why I did what I did though:
See protesting is an interesting thing, speak too softly and you don't get notice, speak to loudly and you start a riot and perhaps Civil War without end... lol. I choose a happy medium, I wanted to get notice but didn't want to destroy Endor Base in the process. As much as sweeping stuff under the rug is nice and a quick fix via PMs and such I don't buy into quick fixes and people are gonna talk regardless. If there are problems they should be in an open forum but I know that how I pharse things it has potential to be utterly devastating... world ending... apocalyptic...or whatever, thus I posted here since it's rather neutral territory... Babylon 5ish... Anyway! That was my thinking...
I was never mad at you or Matt, I think my target has been clearly RL and LFL. However, as the leaders of the of RL in our little part of the world you have an obligation to protect yourself and the group and I'm sympathetic to you both. As leader of my Rogue Squadron, destroyer of a corrupt club, and as one of the OG founders of this one, I know what it's like to be caught in the middle. TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. At least you don't have people threatening to kill you... Yep, I know it's NOT fun... it's much easier to destroy and old era than build a new one. Why do you think I drink? lol j/k However, I applaud your efforts and think you guys are well suited to do these kind of things but as for me... I'm retired, BUT... I guess I adopt the philosophy of Aku, Soku, Zan... Evil, Instant, Cut... or Instant destruction of corruption, I had a direct hand in making this club so it's important to me it does well. RL has never been a concern till it disturbed my calm but the last thing I CAN do for RL is protest corrupt insane policy and politics. Where would this nation be if people didn't challenge the status quo and drive change for the better?
Meh... am I a trouble maker? Maybe... yes... but I never claimed to be an agreeable conformist type. HELLO... I lead ROGUE Squadron... it's right there in the name! Anyway, I'm over it, I've said my peace, anyone else wants to go head to head then I'm game. Still action speaks louder that words so when I quit RL and didn't show up to the TFU event THAT was my main protest. You know something is VERY wrong when I'm pissed off with something SW and this was VERY wrong. Ah well... it's a learning curve ain't it? You can either let what I say totally overwhelm you and destroy your resolve... or use it as fodder to fire up will a determination to better RL. One way or the other, that is a fight I choose NOT to participate in. I've fought enough wars in my time.

Lou, could you ask Stephanie if she could get me a CD of her pics, and if we can post them on the SFFF, RL and GGG websites?

OK game, plenty to go through eventually, but it feels pretty linear. Annoyance is that even if you save your game before the boss, when you go back to it later, you start from the beginning of the level again. It's got a few glaring bugs such as your character being invisible for a few seconds after a life continue. Sounds cool except it's invisible to you and the bad guys are blasting and slashing you. And it's already froze on me in an early level.

Just saw a piece on KRON 4 news about the event (they showed me and Jun as Vader's wingmen), and tomorrow night at 8 pm, they'll be doing a piece on LucasArts and the making of TFU. They're also giving away a free copy of the game on their website.

What version you got? So far on the PS3, game goes back to where it was saved.

PS2
I only tried it during the prologue, so it may be different the rest of the game. Took me 2 hours of play to figure you HAVE to use a finishing move to beat the Boss. Helps to look at the instructions sometimes, I guess. The upper level upgrades are pretty cool though.

Hey all!
JUst thought I'd let you all know my experience at the Launch party. Well I went to work and had a hectic day, got off at 5PM went home to shower and clean up. By the time that was all done, along w/ paper work from work, I got to Best Buy at 9PM. It was cool to see everyone in costume. Got hit in the head by someone who was trying trying to get a shirt, got knocked to the ground by some ASS**#@ who already had around roughly 4-6 shirts in his oily hands who was lunging to get yet more. So by this time I was in a pissy ass mood. Then to make things more fun I had to wait in line behind the same toilet wipe who knocked me to the ground,,,, you might have seen him as I think he might have been drunk, as he was undressing and shouting and running all around and making me wish I had a something sharp to stick in my eye. Although it was cool of Best Buy to hand out gloves. AND a BIG HUGE Shout out to Lou and Stephanie for givnig me and MUCH bigger number! Thanx guys you're the best, OXOXO! And a BIG thanx to Matt, for calling me to let me know about it in the first place, Thanx Matt! And the game is sweet, what little Ive had time to play.

Hopefully everyone knew that was not a Rebel Legion member. He was behind me when we marched so I gave the crowd a good laugh when I marched backwards staring at him.

I remember that guy. I was wondering where he came from. I just wanted to say that I was glad I went. I had a really good time hanging out with you all and it was fun seeing the kids reactions. I was glad the jedi were represented because my friend's 6 year old who was with us for a while didn't like the troopers but had a fun time playing with the sabers. I dressed at work which is right next door so some of my coworkers got to see my costume and what a geek I am. They thought it was cool. One of them is big into SW so he came and walked around for awhile. Another one saw me and Thomas doing some saber work in the parking lot. Thanks for the lesson Master Obi Wan. I will try to upload my pics this weekend (my first attempt at it) and hopefully they came out ok. I even got a pic of myself with the secret apprentice (thanks thomas). Overall I consider it a successful event. The signs are still up outside Best Buy as of earlier today. Thanks for all your work Matt in helping to put it together.
