I vote Dolores Park. But I would choose Crissy Field over San Bruno.

You have to make it more centrally located so that the people coming from 50 miles away have an incentive to come and participate. Another thing, the name of this topic needs to change to an annual picknic or a party for people to even open up the link. I had trouble finding this. If it was not for Matt telling me about this I would of never took the time to look for it.

I think Eva was thinking the peninsula was more central? Or maybe something just slightly south of San Francisco? I guess it's just that it sometimes feels like the people from San Jose have the longest commute. But I know Kevin lives north of San Francisco. Same with Charles (if we can ever have a meeting on a Sunday so he can attend).

SF is centrally located and we are the SF Fan Force. I'm not against having it somewhere else but we it should be in SF.

Just wanted to bump this up and see if we can agree on a place to go. It was requested last night by some of the south bay folks that we make it south of the city so that they don't have so long a drive. We also might have a chance at better weather if we get out of the city. Unless of course we get another heat wave. cool

The only park in South City that's suitable that I know of is Orange Park:

Genentech had a picnic there once, it was really nice.

I went to Orange Park when I was scouting locations for our first picnic, and yes, it is nice, but I think you had to pay $$ to reserve a spot, and you didn't get a discount unless you were a SSF resident. But I'll check it out today or tomorrow and confirm.

Regardless, I think we need to make a decision by Thursday night at the latest. I was afraid of deciding like this at the last minute, even though I mentioned this in other threads at least a month ago, but go no real responses to it; and the fact that we canceled meetings didn't help either. frustrated

Why not just have the picnic at the same park in San Bruno? I think Eva and Rachel brought up a good point this weekend... parks in San Francisco can often have poor weather. And San Bruno is a little closer for those of us driving from the South Bay happy

Eva also offered her house as a sight but that would be further away from the city than San Bruno.

I agree with the 'other' posts. So for me, San Francisco is not 'centrally' located.

For the meetings, we should mix it up and be fair to all members. Have a meeting on Sunday, so people like Charles can make it once in awhile. Change the meeting locations so that people that live in other cities don't have to commute so far all the time. And although it's the San Francisco Fan Force, people from Marin, East Bay and South Bay attend.

So it would be nice if we could have the annual picnic in San Bruno. I for one, would greatly appreciate it.

(Also sent through the YahooGroup):

Well it looks like most people are voting for Junipero Serra Park in San Bruno. I went there today to check it out the same spot we had last time (Meadow View).

http://sffanforce.com/gallery/picnic_8-06/index.htm

Today, it was sunny, but it was kind of windy. But there's another location (DeAnza) that is literally behind the entrance. It was less breezy, weather-wise. Please post your location preference so Dale and I can get there at 8 am and hold the location.

DeAnza:

Meadow View:

Both locations are a short walk from the restrooms and parking, have shade, and both have a BBQ pit and two tables. NO PETS or loud music. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and payment is made with envelopes by the parking lots. For DeAnza, you make a left once you enter the park, and for Meadow View, make a right and go up the hill.

All information, including park rules, directions, etc. and more photos can be found on their website:

http://www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/smc/department/home/0,,5556687_12313307_12328481,00.html

Please post:

1. Your location preference (Meadow View or DeAnza)
2. What you'll be bringing (enough for 10 people)

Please bring a chair and a sweatshirt or light jacket in case it gets cold later on. Carpool if you can. I'll be bringing 2-liter sodas and ice (as well as a big cooler), since I have some left over from another BBQ over the weekend.

I say be there around 12 noon.

Sound good?

Sounds good to me. Richard and I will bring two side dishes. applause

Potato Salad and Macaroni salad. (And either location in San Bruno is fine with me!)

Also, do we bring our own meat to grill? (Other group picnics I've gone to do that...)
