Is anyone else watching the opening ceremonies? Does anyone else thing the "lanterns" they gave out look like mini FX lightsabers? LOL

Wow... Phelps... 8 for 8.... amazing! Also congrats to the US ladies in the gymnastics all around Gold AND Silver! Way to stick it, finally someone halted the Chinese gymnaztics juggernaut! Although I still think the judges were really biased in their scoring in the beginning too against the US. Those Chinese are NOT 16 man...

Yeah, I like the excuse from the Chinese Gov that they can supply passports (not birth certificates) as proof of age.
Chinese govt passports for their Chinese Olympic team. No chance of chicanery there I'm sure...

Nastia Liukin was robbed with that gymnastics tie-breaker hoopla! Yeah, she had the exact same score as the Chinese gymnast, but she had a way better routine! Should've been two golds then.  But congrats to her and her teammate Shawn Johnson for getting gold and silver for balance beam. Congrats too to the US in Misty May and Kerry for advancing to the gold competition in volleyball, the mens baseball team, sweeping track & field with all three medals, and for winning the shot put for the first time since 1932! Good luck to all the Bay Area athletes too!

I think you're thinking of the women's discus Matty... or did they win the shot put today too?
Dude I was ticked at the uneven bar robbery AND all the other robbery they had on the other individual routines including floor AND vault. Floor was more forgivable cos Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liuken got Silver and Bronze and the Romanian did a great job, but Alicia Sacramonie should of got AT LEAST bronze on the vault. It's psychotic that the Chinese gymnast lands on her hands and knees AND OUT OF BOUNDS on her second vault and gets bronze when Alicia landed with slight hops and doesn't get anything even though her difficulty was slightly lower. SO WRONG... I agree with Bella Caroli when he said there's a lot a bias going on with the judging and why are they doing this to this young girl who's olympics games are already kinda F'd as is. Very sad that they didn't even give her some redemption there. At least Shawn and Nastia took Gold and Silver on the beam... and I was kinda glad when that one Chinese gymnast bit it there cos it was getting ridiculous on the pro Chinese judging. It was also very apparent in the Womens All Around too, Nastia and Shawn stuck landings and did amazing and yet the Chinese had better scores with slight steps and bobbles in the first few events because the Chinese were very much leading after the first two appartuses and it came all the way down to floor before Nastia and Shawn clinched the gold and silver. Great job to the men too because they didn't even expect to medal with all the injuries and they snagged bronze.
I think they should make some kind of automated judging system/robot that has all the routines and different moves preset into a system then deducts and calculates via what visual input of data it receives. All this subjective judging and crazy ass point system is ludacris as well as the "tie breaking" system they have which then puts the final decision on fewer possibly incompetent judges. If you had it automated then at least that takes out the bias as well as human error. Leaving it up to judges from countries that have crap gymnastics programs is just not a good system even though it supposedly gets rid of the bias but it really doesn't. Stupid humans...
