I finished the book and the graphic novel. If there's anyone out there who also read it or knows the story already and would like to talk about what they liked or disliked or didn't understand, then please post your questions and comments here:
I'll start off. So this guy is powerful enough with the force to move star destroyers, but the emperor can effortlessly kill him with sith lightning?

Great... now I know what happens in the end. If you intend to put spoilers at least don't put the ending of a main chracter Tom. That's like a rule of thumb man...

I was totally serious actually... I'm a sucker for spoilers and info but seeing the ending of TFU before I had time to advert my Sharingan like gaze was very disconcerting to my calm... Because of this I went all the way and spoiled myself silly on wookieepedia... but I'm a little annoyed but whatever. Sounds like Galen wasn't killed by Palpatine's Dark Lightening, sounds like he used his Force Destruction ability to save the original leaders of the Rebel Alliance (very cool btw cos it unites the EU books concerning how the Correlian Treaty was signed and the OG formation of the Rebel Alliance). In turn allowing them to escape... Kinda like an early ROTJ ending but the DS wasn't destroyed in the process.
Now I know where the Rebel Alliance crest comes from and by Sept 15th everyone else who buy TFU will know too. I kinda rather have it be a mystery... I'm annoyed at that now. They keep sucking the mysteries out of the SW universe, first Boba Fett (pretty cool actually) now the Rebel Alliance Crest (also pretty cool).... at least we still have Yoda....
Oh and Tom, for future reference... these guys don't usually read EU. Hell even I'm behind... lol

I've been looking through the TFU books LucasArts gave me on Sunday, and I think it would be cool to see some of these characters in the live-action series, using the same actors (who'll be at Best Buy on the 15th). I was surprised to see Leia make an appearance. Lucas was against it at first, but when the game developers told him how she would be in a small but crucial role, he agreed. I know some of the 501st guys would love to do some of the concept armor and maybe Darth Plageius.

I always thought the rebel crest was derived from the jedi symbol, since they looked so much alike, I didn't quite buy into the Marek family crest idea, and I'm now I'm considering it a continuity error.
I definitely think we'll see more of Brood, Kota and Juno Eclipse in some "midquel" books and comics.

I don't something that significant would be a small continuity error. Maybe there'll be more explanation in future books and/or the TV series. As far as seeing more of Brood, Kota and Juno, there are already a few popping up in the costuming groups.

Okay... well prior to the prequel stuff there was NO JEDI SYMBOL. The universal symbol of the Jedi Knights was the lightsaber not a picture of a lightsaber but the weapon itself, a symbol of honor and dedication to the Jedi Order. The end, no fancy random contrived representation of a picture "symbol" of the Jedi. I like that and I dislike that they had to have that new symbol. Same goes with the Rebel Alliance crest but the explaination for it makes more sense to me butI kinda like the explaination. I DO like the explaination of the Imperial cog as it is the warping of the Old Republic cog. Overall though, the Jedi never needed a pictoral "symbol" how can you even symbolize something like The Force.
It's like this essentially: if I were in a battle and I see a pure glowing blade of a lightsaber raised to rally the troops in the name of justice I would be more attacted to that rather than a flag with the "Jedi Symbol" on it... That is why Jedi NEED NO picture symbol. Symbols only work if you're moved by it in a profound way cos it means something more that can't be truly explained, thus all these religions having a cross or star of david or something means something to the people that follow those religions. Jedi NEED NO picture symbol and I was hoping they'd NEVER GIVE them one. It just makes it like any other religion out there really... No longer honor and glory via actions but reliance on a symbol to draw unbelievers forcing the idea of having sides. The Force doesn't choose sides, the Force is one, there are no sides.

Leia's in the trailer Matty, she's wearing a Padme like outfit with the Bespin haircut. I thought it was pretty awesome and how this story ties into the Rebel Alliance and the formation of the Corellian Treaty with Senator/General Garm Iblis. It makes sense.... Once again the EU has to fix what Lucas has jacked up... lol Someone at LA/LFL is correcting Lucas's insanity...

I'm not sure about the EU "fixing" what George creates. It's the other way around, IMO. As long as he's alive, that'll be the case. That's what happens when there are more writers and creators for a franchise than just the principal creator. Look at J.K. Rowling - she won't let any other stories about her characters be created without her doing it. The same can be said of what happened to Gene Roddenberry and the Star Trek franchise after his passing.
I'm hoping that the live-action series will really delve into many aspects of that 19 year gap between ROTS and ANH. Of course, there will probably be liberties taken with some continuity from books, comics, games, etc. Sometimes when you create a storyline or character, I'm sure every aspect of continuity must be researched to be "canonized", but sometimes things go by the wayside to better serve the story. For instance, in Empire, one of R2's ports is used to plug him into his power charger on Dagobah. Then, in Jedi, the same port is where he shocks the Ewok after being untied. Another example is in the novel for Star Wars - Owen is Ben's brother, now Owen is Anakin's stepbrother. Another example is Ben telling Luke he took it upon himself to train Anakin, with no mention of Qui-Gon asking him to as his dying wish. Boba Fett's origin is another change from the books and the films. Then there's the attack on the Death Star where Luke was part of Blue Squadron, but with the blue screen techniques used, they couldn't use blue and they became Red Squadron (which, of course was changed again in the "Revisited" version. )
Then there's the "Infinities" stories. And the list goes on...
Oh well. Nothing is perfect and everyone's a critic.

You're in error Matt, Lucas has forgotten his own freakin movies (like in the Family Guy interview, he couldn't even remember what musical score goes with which part of the movie! Come on! lol...) and stories associated with it and it's up to the writers of the EU to make things makes sense. Overall Lucas current style of story telling and dependence on FX is no longer based on "oh does this makes sense in the universe" but now it is more "Oh! Wouldn't this look cool?". For example of a clean up via EU... that whole parsecs and Kessel thing was made up by Lucas? No it was actually, yet sadly, written in by Kevin J. Anderson. Which makes the distance to the black hole cluster of the Maw from Kessel which make the measure of distance (ie parsecs) rather than a rate of time which usually measures speed. True, nothing is perfect, but like you and your "standards" for the RL I have my own personal standards when it comes to the SW Universe and IMO (I just figured out what IMO was! lol) Lucas has jacked a lot of it up. Lucas has good ideas BUT he should leave the story telling to the people who can keep things straight as well as write WAY better dialouge...
The ports on R2 thing, that's production man... nothing to do with continuity because the guys were prob like "hey, let's stick it here"
The novel concerning Owen being Obi Wan's bro not Anakin's half bro... Like I said, Lucas has forgotten his own stuff. Thanks for the example further of his inability to keep the universe constant for an important plot point. Perhaps via Jedi brotherhood which my guess would need an EU writer to fix in that explanation.
The whole Obi Wan taking is upon himself etc etc... Like I said AGAIN, Lucas has forgotten his own stuff.
Boba's past was actually always rumors and mystery until AOTC, even though the very cool mystery is gone I kinda like the explaination and that is why other than the horrible horrible forced "romantic scenes" AOTC was IMO the best out of the prequels.
The whole blue screen/squadron thing... again that's a matter of production.
I personally would NOT consider anything prior to 1993 via comics and novel as "canon" (hate this canon concept as well) cos it was crazy as hell: The SW novels, Splinter of the Minds Eye, The Han Solo Adventures, The Lando Calrissian Adventures, and all the Marvel comics pay NO attention to continuity what so ever. They just wrote whatever they wanted. Kinda like all the versions of the X-men and such. Oh it's not selling anymore time for a REDO! You have your standards for costumes I just have standards of what's worthy to be called Star Wars... and IMO Lucas is full of poodoo. It's up to the EU to save it now. Oh and the EU novel version of the prequels, FAR BETTER.

Okay I beat Rob's PS2 version... It's a fun game just to go in and destroy stuff... But I did it in about 10 hours. ALL TOO EASY! I mean... Even Republic Commando with it's 5 levels took longer... Still it's a pretty game (even prettier for PS3) and a good concept, I bet they'll make a second. Maybe they're combine titles... Jedi Outcast The Force Unleashed... With Kyle Katarn again maybe? meh...
Jedi Outcast is still the superior game over all but TFU is funner. lol Story is a lil far fetched though, cramming the Corellian Treaty, Formation of the Rebel Alliance BY VADER... (wth), The origin of the Rebel Crest. I DID think it was awesome they included the Corellian Treaty which establishes the open Rebellion again the Empire and the fact they included Garm Iblis there which FINALLY follows correct continuity of the Timothy Zahn Trilogy. Someone was finally doing their homework. And seeing young Mon Mothma was nice since she was cut from Ep.3. Anyway, fun game... interesting... lol

Yeah the whole, "We need a symbol." thing was funny. Leia wipes some dust off a table and goes, "That looks good enough."
The alternate ending had better drama though, and of course even more non-canon.
Cool thing about finishing the game is that you can go back and replay the missions while keeping all your upgraded powers. So running through halls in the first level and leveling enemies with full Force lightening just becomes hilarious.

There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for! "Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not."
