Right now I'm reading Good Omens by Gaimon and Pratchet (sp?)

Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett wink They're both pretty damn good. I was rereading Pratchett's Lords and Ladies earlier. Still hilarious.

"Shouldn't you have a horse?"

"I was waylaid by bandits."

"But it says on your card that you're a 'Finest Swordsman'."

"I was outnumbered."

"How many of them were there?"

"Three million."

Yeah, it would be nice if I could spell silly

Someone on these boards said it was funny so I picked it up, but I'm not really impressed. I think Douglas ADams could have done a better job with it. And I read Stardust by Gaimon with a book club, and I really didn't enjoy it. Eventually I'll give Pratchett's Discworld a try, but I don't have very high hopes.

I am now reading the Black Stallion series. It is a good book. I still think Star Wars is the best!

You know I read those Black Stallion books back when I was 12 because the movies looked interesting (even though to this day I've never seen them). Even then I was casting about for reading material and soon fell upon my first Stephen King experience with The Shining. I literally consumed that book in the span of 3 days.

Borders was having a big sale (3 for 2 on sci-fi/fantasy + 20% off everything for students) so I got:
Evergence 2 + 3
Orphans of Earth 3 (that's right Excellence tongue )
Magician - never read it, but played and loved the Krondor PC game and heard it's excellent, so I'm trying that out
Neuromancer
Gates of the Moon (I think...whatever the first Malazan book is).

So many other tempting offers there...I saw a girl walk in and buy all of David Eddings' books. Quite an armful tongue

That is a really good series. Make sure to get the follow ups to it, Silverthorn/Darkness at Sethanon. There is also another set that details the world on the other side of the rift, Servant of the Empire/Daughter of the Empire/Mistress of the Empire, these are just as good as the first saga IMO.

Correct, I was confusing it with Deadhouse Gates.

Finished Republic Commando this morning, very good read.

Then picked up and burned all the way through the novelization for V for Vendetta, which was decent enough. I'll probably see that in theatres.

MarcusP2, tell me what you think of Heirs of Earth, please. The first two books are exemplar, but the third was . . . horrific doesn't begin to describe it. The Evergence purchase was excellent, wait till you read the last pages!

Taking a break from V For Vendetta, I picked up Batman: Year One. After watching Batman Begins, I kept hearing that the story of it was inspired by several different comics of the franchise. So I decided to dig deep and try to find some of these inspirations, and where they got into this "new" story of Batman for the movies.

I absoultly love those Darkness books by Turtledove!

It is so great because as you are reading if you watch the history channel as the narrator is speaking then you are reading exactly what he is saying. Only instead of planes and tanks its dragons and Bemethos.
