Magician
Some of you guys also might remember a set of computer games from the 90's. Betrayal at Krondor and Return to Krondor....they were fantasy RPG's created by this author and were later adapted into novels as well as part of this series. Trust me, once you pick up Magician, you will be so enthralled you will read the whole series. official author web page

I JUST started that, today. (Odd that I am enjoying it more than I originally thought. Maybe because I waited a while to read it, between the last LOTF book, that the sour tastes in my mouth from the general series flow has faded.)
But before that, I had finished off "Tiger Force" by Michael Sallah and Mitch Weiss. Seriously, this book will stick with anyone that reads it LONG after it's done. Downright chilling.

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, along with everyone else I know. It's not OMG BRILLIANT, but it's good so far.

Mainly a whole ton of technical books for my poetry essay. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be doing English at uni if I didn't enjoy every bit of it, but it leaves too little time for reading for fun.
That said, I got through nearly all of the second Solaris New Science Fiction anthology (short stories) in Borders a couple of days ago. Reading without buying is something I feel eminently justified now I'm a student.
I might buy it once I have a little more money though - most of the stories were damn good, and I'd recommend both the '07 and '08 anthologies to anyone

NJOfan215 posted: I like it. It's the 7th book in the sword of truth series. People knock the series for being a bit slow and preechy. Those critisism are valid, but i don't mind a slow book as long as there is a pay off at the end. So far the sword of truth books have delivered. This 7th book is widely critisised by people who like the series because the main characters in the series are hardly in the book. I miss the mains, but Jennsen, the mew character that takes center stage in this book is pretty cool. she's an outsider to the plot of the series, so it's interesting to see things from her point of view.
I've just started the 5th book Soul Of The Fire. They are slow going at times but I've enjoyed them so far. I was thinking of moving on to another writer at the end of this book. Do you recommend carring on with the 6th?

Mythology by Edith Hamilton
The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs (Total impulse buy at Target, I saw the cover and my inner knitter squealed. It's actually a pretty good book, though.)

Pillars of the Earth was good. I'd recommend it to a friend.
Reading Tangled Webs, Anne Bishop's new book. Good, but one of my least favorites of hers.

Did you like it? I tried three of her other books (Cleopatra, Mary Queen of Scots, and Henry VIII) and couldn't bring myself to finish any of them.

I guess it was pretty good. Not one of the best books I've ever read, but still good. I might read some of her other works if I take the time to request em from a library

No I haven't. Sounds good though! I think I'll read it sometime. Thanks for the suggestion

I hated the fifth book, but the sixth book has been my favorite one of the series so far. I'm currently reading the 8th one, it's not as good as 6 or 7, but it's better than 5.

Whattyaknow? I got into some Space Opera Sci-Fi WITHOUT side recommendation, this time out!
Right now, for regular novels, I'm reading the "Young Miles" omnibus by Lois McMaster Bujold. I'm only a little bit into "Warrior's Apprentice", but already I've fallen for the character of Miles Vorkosigan, and the general tone of the series. Great stuff!
