Nat, I was have a feeling of deja vu as well, so I think we definitely had this Anne of Green Gables conversation before. tongue

Here is what I'm reading at the moment:

*Godchild Vol.5 by Kaori Yuki
*A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
*The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
*a comic book version of The Crow

Hopefully, I'll get to HP 6 and 7.

For BookShare I'm editing White is for Magic by Laurie Stolarz, which is good so far. It's the second book in a series and I haven't read the first one, but it's still a decent book. YA fantasy. I'm not very far into it, though.

For Uni, I'm reading The Narratives of Captivity and Restoration by Mary Rowlandson. It's actually pretty interesting. She gets kidnapped by Indians and spends several months with them. It's the basis for Westerns, as a genre, and it's a true story.

I am reading Inferno by larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle which is a modern retelling of Dante's Divine Comedy. Ihave known of this book for many years and finally grabbed it in it's new redistribution.

Just finished Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Even though it's supposed to be for kids, I still loved it. grin

Meg Cabot: Queen of Babble 3: Queen of Babble Gets Hitched. Decent so far. It's an audio book I'm listening to and the voice is a bit weird, but I like it.

I've read the first two and want to read the rest. They're hilarious kids' books, I love them. laugh Good entertainment in a quick read.

I want to reread my Dune boks, but my copies are at home. *sigh* It's always so frustrating when I don't have all of my stuff at school and go, "Oh, right, that thing I want is three hours away." tongue doh!

I want to get all of them - I'm a HUGE Greek mythology lover. Grew up with D'Aulaire's book of Greek myths. Man, our copy is so old - the front cover is falling off.

I wonder if we could start a Greek Mythology thread here...

Slightly OT: but have you guys watched Valentine? It's a new TV series that started a couple of weeks ago and involves Greek gods.

To make this on topic: I just finished A Child called 'It'. Powerful book, but I don't recommend it to anyone who has a history of abuse, unless you want to spend several hours after reading it feeling like crap.

Yes, I've seen the first episode of Valentine. Not impressed, I have to say. But this is probably a topic for another thread.

Recently read Isaac Asimov's Halloween edited by Gardner Dozois and Sheila
Williams. There is a great Nordic ghost story in it that takes place
in primative Iceland and reads like an ancient saga. Also I read The
Wild Hunt: Vengence Moon by Jocelin Foxe. Go here for details:
and it's sequel, The Wild Hunt: Child of Fire by Jocelin Foxe Details
here.
Great believeable world is created there. Jocelyn Foxe is actually two
women into The Society For Creative Anacronisms. Website is:

Also read The Devil of Aske by Pamela Hill, but that is more historical romance, taking place during the Jacobite rebellion. I find most of my books for free at the grab one, share one rack at Lord Fairfax Community College's
library in Winchester, VA where I go for the Shenandoah Astronomical Society meeting or on
the dollar racks at Dollar General.

Am curious if anyone else read these books?

I'm currently reading through David B. Coe's Winds of the Forelands series. I've finished the first two, Rules of Ascension and Seeds of Betrayal. Now I'm reading the third book, Bonds of Vengeance. Pretty good so far.
