The biggest theme in this book/series is love, forgiveness, redemption. I still fail to see how this is trying to infiltrate young minds with an evil message. Arguments like that one person's really makes no sense.

Exactly. My wife (who isn't really even an HP fan, and finds the hype ridiculous) said the woman was flat-out scary. She was also really interested in what the other panelists had to say, especially about appropriateness for children at certain ages given the violence.

And death.

In the end, though, you're more or less right. And even though Rowling has said she didn't want the story to be a Christian parable, I would have a far easier time interpreting the story as Christian than I would interpreting it as satanic.

To those who say that the books are Satanically inspired, I point to a quote from Deathly Hallows:

Harry stooped down and saw, upon the frozen lichen-spotted granite, the words KENDRA DUMBLEDORE and, a short way below her dates of birth and death, AND HER DAUGHTER ARIANA. There was also a quotation:

Where you treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I point to another quote:

" 'Harry', said Lucifer, 'you are too deep in satan-worship'."

Yes. Lucifer was quite an interesting character in this.

I was amazed when he told Harry to stop being a wizard. Apparently, Lucifer, although damned himself and behind all the magic, was a nice fellow and sought to save as many people as possible. His advice gives Harry the new lease on life as a Muggle at the end. I felt bad when Ginny refused to stop being a witch and Harry reported her to the Church of England (Hell hath no fury like a brat scorned) and had her burned at the stake. I cried at the description of it.

I think, though, that the 45 year old Anglican Priest Harry from the epilogue was an interesting conclusion to what we had seen in the previous books. I guess Rowling wanted to finally get rid of the accusations of the books being evil.

I'm really happy my prediction turned out to be true, sort of. I predicted that Harry would die as his scar was the final horcrux, although I didn't predict he'd come back.

Edited for spoilers

Indeed. Not to mention the "Harry will sorta, but not really, die" resurrection possibilities... happy

Did anyone else think Ms. Weasley's duel with Bellatrix Lastrange was one of the most flat-out awesome moments of the series? It kind of put me in mind of Aliens and the signature line there, "Get away from her, YOU BITCH." Of all the people who could be on the good guy side in that duel, I've got to say I'm amazed at who it ended up being, but very pleased.

I finished it!!

Really loved the 19 years later. It was so cute love And I'm glad Harry didn't really die. My mother, of all people, told me that one of the major three would die right as we were buying the book (I got really mad because I hadn't been spoiled and she doesn't even know anything about Harry Potter). But He came back!! dancing

The thing that surprised me most about the book was that there were no massive surprises. None of the main characters died. I suppose the biggest surprise of the series was "King's Cross". Aside from that, however, the book was really what I was expecting.
