RE: Steven Erikson - The Malazan Book of the Fallen
The cosmology of this series is very bizarre.
Mother Dark = progenitor of the Tiste Andii (i.e the 3 brothers.)
Father Light = progenitor of the Tiste Liosan (who barely appear.) Apparently Dark is their mother but they took none of her traits.
The Edur are children of both, with a mixture of both qualities. Father Shadow = Scabandari Bloodeye, the most powerful of the Edur. The the three sisters are his daughters.
Things are further confused by the involvement of Tiam (drinking her blood makes you into a soletaken dragon, IIRC, like Rake, Ruin and Bloodeye.)
I think all of these characters are Ascendants.

I'm stuck on House of Chains at the moment. I was interested in reading about Tavore, but after trying to skip ahead to find her parts, but having not found them after a couple of hundred pages I gave up and haven't touched the book since.
I thought Memories of Ice was fantastic though. Especially Anomander Rake, who's my favourite character so far.

Reaper's Gale Spoilers:
I have been thinking what the purpose was behind the Errant's motive to have Sirryn kill Trull? He was Knight of Shadow, an ascendant (if I guess correctly). Now his whole plot from HoC thru RG seems pointless, other then to knock Seren Pedac up.

I'm still waiting to see what the fallout from that is. I hope Trull's story isn't over, but if Whiskeyjack can go down suddenly so can he.
And I wonder where Quick Ben sent Sirryn.

Up.
Just wanted to draw attention to everyone since the U.S. edition of Toll the Hounds will be releasing on the 16th next tuesday. Can't wait for that day! I am just hoping that our family doesn't have to evacuate for Hurricane Ike so I can get the book on time!

You got the U.S. edition early?
I would have already had it the day the book got to the store since I used to be a manager over there and my old work mates still run shop. Unfortunatly I had to leave Louisiana and go to Arkansas because of Hurricane Ike.
So anyway right now I hate you for the having the book before me!!!!! lol jk.

Ah finally got the book! I got it a few days late because Hurricane Ike messed up the shipping down here. I am happy now.
