I always thought they just totalled trusted him as their leader. Like Scabandari to the original Edur (though there's certainly some elements of worship to the later Edur).

Oh yes, Dark/Shadow/Light/Chaos is all WTH. All I've got is that Light has the Liosan, Dark has the Andii and Shadow has the Edur. Anything beyond that...

Rake's comments toward the end of Gardens at the party when he's asked about his title as Lord do sound more like he's elected/accepted as leader out of respect rather than worship. Besides anyone used to worship wouldn't appreciate Crone's company so much.

What I'm really curious about is if the Brideburners are all ascended, then what is going on on Moon's Spawn right now? A lot of prominent Bridgeburners are entombed on that thing and weren't the bodies preserved? I haven't read Reaper's Gale yet, still rereading first, but only one Bridgeburner listed in the DP as a ghost I think.

I think that something "special" happened to them.

Remember Paran "blessed" them and they began to have glow in the room after he left?

In Hoc there was no mention that remember of of Whiskeyjack. But there was thousands of BB's that all ascended.

I don't think we have seen the last of Whiskeyjack......

WOW!! That is about all that I can say about that last chapter I just read in TBH. Paran standing up to two goddess's, Quick getting his sister out of there, and Apsalar she is the wow part. What she just did to that Shadow Hound, kicking him in the face, making him COME up off the groud to fly into a wall! Shadow Dancing is SO sweet!

Finally picked up Gardens, but only 40 pages in. It's definately not something that can be cruised through. Should get a good chunk done tonight.

I hope that you can get through Gardens! That one is the hardest to read and understand but all the following books will make your tounge plop out your mouth. I swear!

Yeah, getting through it better. By the end of Book 1 I was hooked and the beginning of Book 2 with the Assassin war on the rooftops was brilliant.

If your on book 2 that is good. They have good stuff in there. My advice though is to FLY through it! Get to book 3, everyone mostly thinks that one is the best. I do.

Finished Gardens, and quite enjoyed it. Looking forward to getting to the next one (Deadhouse Gates?) - I want to see what happens with Apsalar and Crokus, although I read most of the end when I was tired from work and can't remember how Crokus ends up with Apsalar returning home.

Kyptastic...

You are in for a treat with Deadhouse Gates. There are moments that are fun, exciting, and some that will simply break your heart.

I guess I am different than most, since this was my favorite book. Just wait till you meet Coltaine....

No doubt about that! It seemed like the book just got more exciting with every turn of the page.

I just want to Reaper's Gale to come out state side so I can delve back into this world.

I would love to see on screen Quick Ben at the front of a Malazan vessel with a fleet of Edur ships aimed straight at him only to have him call up a massive "illusion". That scene in the book had me jumping up and down like an idiot!

Kyptastic: Deadhouse Gates for me is my least favorite of this series and I still LOVED it! This book has the most emotion in it by leaps and bounds from the others.

you might want to black the first part out, it's kind of spoilerish.

Why is DG your least favorite? This might be the most important book, as far as plot, characters, and impact on the Malazan Empire.

I just thought that DG was not as good as all the others. However like I said, I still Loved it. It was great, just my least fav of the series.

At the time I was to confused with the location/character change. Had alot to do with it.

I agree that the location and character changes were confusing at first. But, when the story got going, and the "Chain of Dogs" got started, I could not put this book down. Also, like I said earlier, there are parts that just break your heart. You are right that Memories of Ice was amazing.

Reapers Gale can't get to the U.S. fast enough!
