Has anyone here seen the LOTR musical? I was wondering because it's coming to London next year and I was wondering if it was worth seeing.
I can imagine it must have been fairly easy to make. You can't go twenty pages in the books(especially Fellowship) without SOMEONE singing something.

Sorry, but the idea of LOTR as a musical is just wrong. Almsot downright frightening.
I could maybe see doing it as a three part opera cycle, sort of as a modern day Ring. But on Broadway, next door to Cats and The Producers? Sacriledge!

I'm with yankee; I can't imagine it as a musical. Maybe it's because I haven't gotten around to reading the books yet, but I just can't see it.

Oh yes it is. Just imagine Gandalf at the Council of Elrond singing (to the tune of How do solve a problem like Maria from Sound of Music):
"How do you solve a problem like the One ring ..."
By the end, the hobbits, dwarves, Arwen, Strider and Boromir have all joined in.

So I guess Aragorn would serenade Arwen with Edelweiss.
I guess Frodo could do "I have confidence ..." at some point. Or maybe Sam, as he sets off to resue Frodo after Shelob stings him and the orcs take him away.
Not sure who to have sing "I am 16 ...", though.
Nevertheless, I think we've got the makings of a nice "The Sound of the Lord of the Music Rings" going.
