So, who is better, Richard or Jean-Claude? I personally prefer Richard.

Jean-Claude. But I like Vampires better than lycanthropes anyway

He's too sure of himself and determined to have Anita even if it means killing Richard (I've only read Bloody Bones) for me to like him as much as I used to.

Well, I think that Richard's a pansy, so I support Jean-Claude killing him

Richard's not a pansy!! Nice, normal guy . . . I guess I keep seeing him as someone I would date, because he's sweet and nice

I read a few reviews of Micah. They're extremely negative, looks like the Anita series drops off
I still need Stroke of Midnight.

I bought two of her books (I believe numbers 6 and 7) a few months ago, but I haven't been able to bring myself to read them. Anita (like Merry, I noticed) spends too juch time being a hard-@$$ and bemoaning the fact that Richard (like normal people) has a few qualms about killing people. She's too confused about her emotions, and the repetitiveness of it is wearing on me. And I'm dreading getting to the bits with hundreds of pages of sex (a la Merry), especally as at the point I am right now, Anita is trying not to have it. Then (apparently) she goes to having several lovers (again like Merry--I'm sensing a trend). The switch is, I'm sure, going to irriate me quite a bit.
In other words, the series started out good but is getting worse. I liked #3 best, I think. And I must admit that I'm looking forward to the Edward book. He's my favorite character, with Richard second.

Well, I've booked up on Anita, I've read 6 now, and I'm guessing, nat, that you probably won't like Richard as much once you've finished it.
I've also just read through LKH's blog:
Danse Macabre is almost done at the publishers, so it should be out soon, maybe.
Mistral's Kiss, the next Merry novel, has been sent off to the publishers for edits and stuff.
And now she's working on the next Anita book, which features Richard and Edward (For the first time since Obsidian Butterfly).
Might be getting better
Read some more...
Apparently the first chapter of Mistral's Kiss hits the bedroom straightaway. Joy.
Danse Macabre is out at the end of this month in the US.
And Richard and Anita are going to "stop fighting and make love."
Well, not as good as I hoped then.

More sex, joy But I'll keep going, if only because I want to finish the two books I've got so as not to waste my money.

How does one read a vampirian book these days? And their cousins, werewolves. The similarities and background are pretty much cemented. Is it the characterisation and development that sets one apart?
This thread is only for discussing LKH. There are Martin threads where this would be appropriate, or you can start a new one.
