Mike Wieringo, one of my favorite comic artists has passed away.
Wieringo was born June 24th, 1963 in Venice, Italy, and first caught the attention of comic book fans when he joined writer Mark Waid on DC's The Flash with issue #80 in 1993. Together, the two co-created the character Impulse, the future speedster brought back to the present. Wieringo (or, 'Ringo as he was better known by then) moved on to Robin at DC, and then moved to Marvel, where he settled in on Sensational Spider-Man with writer Todd DeZago.
He was one of my favorite artists in the comic industry, its shocking to think we'll never see his Spider-Man again.
RIP Mike

What did he pass away from? It seemed that he was young.

He and Mark Waid teamed up for my favorite run of Fantastic Four ever. His art just screamed fun and was always clear and pleasent to look at. He was way too young.

A couple of years ago i went to the local library and looked through the comic section. There i found the first hardcover of Waid and Wieringo's FF run. never caring about the FF before I got it and started reading it. For the first time ever, i found myself loving, not just liking the fantastic four. Honestly their run was one of the greatest runs on any title, and the best ff since kirby and lee, and 'Ringo's pencils were a large part of the reason why it was so good. cartoony and with a real sense of fun.
Damn.

Death notice.
Reactions from Mark Waid, Karl Kessel and Todd Dezago.
Despite being 44 years old, a veggie and in good shape, he began having chest pains on Sunday and before the ambulence got to him, he was gone. I remember being introduced to him in an issue of the Flash that I had picked up. Then seeing him regularly on Robin and Sensational Spider-Man. He did some good work there, as well as his later stuff.

It's sad that he passed away at the age of 44.
One of my favorite comic artists and his work will live on through all the readers that already have discovered his work and the coming generations that will discover the same thing we have.
Rest in peace!

Wieringo's Flash is what got me hooked back into comics along with Ron MArz's Green Lantern. It's interesting that both story lines had some rendition of StarWars. Later Flash issues dealt with the speed "force", and Hal Jordan went all "Anakin". Wieringo's art was catchy & fun enough for me to track down all the Flash #90's run.
