I know the Ultimates 3 is being bashed, but since I haven't read Ultimates 1&2 and therefore don't have any pretext of comparison, I like Ultimates 3. The artwork is outstanding.

Perhaps. Everyone has their own personal taste. Even Roger Ebert like some movies that were considered real stinkers. I'll continue to read the upcoming issues. I don't really have any problems with it.

The artwork is terrible.
Ultimates and Ultimates 2, those had outstanding art.

It's really a shame. I wanted to like Ultimates 3, I REALLY did. But this is just so BAD. It's only compounded by the fact that it's a real challenge to follow Millar and Hitch. They're just the perfect duo. I am really looking forward to their run on Fantastic Four which starts this month.

Their Fantastic Four should be great, and Millar's Old Man Logan story looks like a blast, too. Utterly cliched, but a blast nonetheless.

Both of those will probably suck. Anything with Spider-Man's granddaughter being named Spider-***** can't be good.
Millar has written about 3 good things in his life and the rest suck.

I don't turn to him for literary greatness, but as far as basic well-done sensationalism I think he's one of the best in the business. As far as sheer fun in superhero comics, The Ultimates and The Ultimates 2 are about as good as it's been these last few years.

I like miller, his run ultimate x-men was very good and his run on ultimates was awesome. Wanted was pretty cool too. I'm looking foreward to his fantastic four run and to kiick ass, but i'm not too sure about old man logan. It seems like's putting together elements from a western and wanted and using an old version of wolverine as the main character.

Firstly, I did finally get to reading the second issue of "Ultimates 3". Stupid, yes, but I do want to see where the story goes, so I'll surprisingly stick with it. (It sure isn't "Thunderbolts", though.  )
Secondly, for all this talk about Mark Millar, I really don't have faith in him for the FF regular series run. If it was just a different writer, but STILL with Hitch doing the artwork, it could be a wonder. But Mark seems to enjoy being "edgy" for the hell of it, and that sort of story tone doesn't work well with the setting of the FF.

Just read Ultimates 3, issue 3 and thought it was pretty good (keeping in mind I haven't read the first two volumes of the Ultimates). The issue noted the very first meeting of Magneto and Wolverine and fuels the fire that the Black Panther and Captain America are one in the same.

...you haven't read The Ultimates and Ultimates 2?
Drop Ultimates 3, invest in the hardcovers of The Ultimates and Ultimates 2. It'd be money very well spent IMO.
