One thing that frustrates me is trade hardcovers. I've mentioned this in another thread. I love Marvel's Omnibus and DC's Absolute lines. Oversized, high-quality, bells-and-whistles editions of great or classic stuff. I also like Marvel's normal hardcover line, frequently collecting a whole year, two or three trades, of stories in one oversized cover. I like the way these volumes look and feel and don't mind waiting for them. But Marvel's "premiere hardcover" thing drives me up the wall. The same contents as a TPB in a standard sized hardcover. To me, not worth it. I hate having to wait extra months for X-Factor, New Avengers and Moon Knight, but I'm unwilling to pay the few dollars extra for this nonsense -- and I'm still waiting for ANY of the Zombies stuff, which I definitely don't care enough about to get the hardcover, but which they seem to have decided not to issue in paperback. Maybe they'll eventually do a hardcover collecting ZOMBIES, Ash Vs, and Zombies 2. Then I might go for that.
I have the Immortal Iron Fist premiere hardcover, and I think it is the best quality reprint book I have. Really very nice. My Avengers Forever TPB, on the other hand, started to lose pages less than a week after I bought it. sad

Marvel is finally releasing a collected edition of David Mack's Kabuki: The Alchemy, so yay for that. Now DC needs to get their act together and release the final trade of the original Fallen Angel.

Great thread - I used to read/collect Marvel and DC comics on a regular basis in the '80's (most of which are long gone), got out of it for a couple of years, and then my interest was renewed in comics in the early '90's with the new Dark Horse SW comics.
Since then, I have collected comics sporadically off and on, but for the past 10-15 years have primarily read trade paperbacks instead of collecting the individual comics. This is the best way to read comics, IMHO. I like how in many/most TPB's, if a comic series is older, they will re-color the comics so that the color standards are up to par with modern comics. I also like how most of these are reprinted on high-quality paper.
Some of my favorite reprints have included: The "Chronicles of Conan" Dark Horse series (2003-on), which reprint the Marvel Conan comics from the '70's; the Dark Horse reprints of the Marvel '70's/'80's "Star Wars" comics (2002-2003), the reprints of the F. Miller "Daredevil" run from the late '70's/early '80's, and too many more to list.
However, though there are a lot of TPB's out there, there are many comics that should be collected in the TPB format that haven't been yet. Here is short list of comics I would buy in a heartbeat if they were ever reprinted in TPB's:

* "Moon Knight" Volume 1 - #1-30 - in color

These Bill Sienciewicz (sp?) drawn comics are classics from the early '80's, and are amazing since they have some of the best artwork and stories I've read in a superhero comic. Unfortunately, since the character is somewhat obscure (and the stores somewhat dark), these have only been reprinted in the Marvel "Essentials" black & white format, which is better than nothing (I guess). I'd still like to see these reprinted in color at some point.
They could reprint all of these issues in one monster TPB, or else 2-3 smaller TPB's.

* "Daredevil" Volume 1 - #192-#380

The post-Frank Miller DD stores are very underrated, and very few have been reprinted, for some reason.

* "G.I. Joe" - Marvel - #51-#155

Though Marvel reprinted issues #1-50 of the G.I. Joe series in 2002-2003, they never reprinted any issues past #50.
I'd also like to see reprints of all of the Marvel "G.I. Joe: Special Missions" comics, none of which have been reprinted.

To add to my previous post, I'd really like to see the '70's and '80's issues of "Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man" reprinted in color on high-quality paper and with re-mastered colors (these issues have primarily only been reprinted in the b&w "Essentials" format, so far). It would be great to see this series in 3-4 Omnibus editions (or however many it takes to reprint the series). They've already done 1 "Amazing Spider-man" omnibus and numerous "Amazing Spider-man" Masterworks volumes (8 or 9 at last count), but PPSSM has never gotten the respect it deserves, for some reason.

PPSSM was a great late '70's/'80's title, and I actually preferred this to "The Amazing Spider-Man", though there was definitely a cross-over in some of issues (since both "Peter Parker" and "Amazing Spider-man" were coming out at the same time). However, I thought the art and storylines were superior in the PPSSM series.
