Hello Everyone,
I'm a newcomber to this forum, so I apologize up front if I'm not up on the proper etiquette .
So, "V" creator Kenneth Johnson has just released a novel based on the original 2-part, 4-hour miniseries. Set twenty years after the original V, it ignores both "The Final Battle" and "The Series". It has both old and new characters, and ignores some established canon from the original V. I've almost finished reading it, and it's good. Kenneth is attempting to get it made into a TV-miniseries, so we'll see what happens.
I won't spoil it for people who want to read it, but I do take issue with some of the things in the story. For example, Johnson was not creatively involved in The Final Battle, but did contribute some ideas. Hence, no Ham Tyler, Starchild (a little cheesy, IMHO), or Red Dust (a great idea which fell absolutely flat in the series). Some of these things are intimated at in the book, but the story also has also been updated for the modern day and age. It has a different direction than "The Final Battle", and shows a very different world after twenty years of alien occupation.
Anybody else who is/has been reading it, please jump in .
Peace,
V-03

All I care about is whether Diana returns, with her tight red-latex outfits. If it has that in the books, then consider me an interested party!

Yeah, she's back.
Some of the uniforms have softened, though, to better reflect the idea of a "soft" occupying force, rather than a hard one.
Other details have been changed, as well. For example, in the original V, the motherships were 5 miles across. In the new book, they are sixteen miles across, and two miles wide at their center. Also, there are 250 ships worldwide at the time of the book, not 50.
Peace,
V-03

All joking aside, I did see the book available at a dealer this past week, and it did spark my curiosity. The only stumbling block, and maybe you could clarify this for me, is I honestly remember VERY basic details of the original series material. So is the newest novel part to the "Saga" easy to enter, if you only remember the base concept of reptilian aliens waging war, in disguise, upon humanity?

Pretty much.
It gives a good synopsis of the events of the original as part of the overall storyline.
Peace,

I haven't seen this, but loved the ye old V series. What established canon does it ignore?
Diana had to return, definitely. I reckon Iceheart was based on her, from the X-wing books, myself.
