I'd like to see the "invasion", if that is what it is, have an impact on some smaller teams. Like the Runaways group where they have the Skrull Xavin, it's at least be interesting to see how (s)he sees the events.

StarscreamPrime posted: Here's my take on the whole "event".
Outside of the Skrulls having infiltrated our super-hero universe, what's the big deal? When was the last time ANYONE really regarded the Skrulls as a serious threat? Heck, I even consider the Super-Skrull, one of their more powerful members, to be a bit of a joke.
I just don't buy into the invasion angle, because you'd have to have a legit threat to really fear invasion from.
Plus, the Skrull Empire has recently been pretty much toasted by the Annihilation wave. They're better off than the Kree are right now, but that's not exactly saying much. I'll probably pick up the core event, now that I start thinking about it, but I can't really say I'm excited.
In other news, Annihilation is pure awesome, and deserves to have more impact on the mainstream Marvel universe. Not that the main heroes should have an impact on the Annihilation events, but there should be some effect on them from it. Maybe this Secret Invasion is it - if so, I'm more interested.

I'm looking foreward to this series as a culmination of many threads that have been seeded by Bendis over the past few years. As an event, i'm not that into it. With each event that MArvel does, i buy less of the books involved. I bought about 75% of civil war, 67% of wwh and i'm probably only buying 50% of secret invasion. They put out too much meaningless crap.

If there's one thing I hate about the big events, it's how they pull in all the other books. Even the current run of Captain America suffered in my opinion during the Civil War crossover period, with the obvious exception of Captain America #25. It's not that those issues were bad or anything of the sort, it's that they relied on another book to provide key parts of the story.
If and when people read the series coming into it five, ten, twenty years down the road, the sheer amount of crossover and megaseries will make trying to follow any given title an excercise in insanity.

My hopes is that SI is going to be a part of the Skrull Empire's attempts at rebuilding itself, in reading the Secret Invasion Saga work-up they hammered the point over and over again as to how important Earth really was to both the Kree and Skrull.
It seems like in the aftermath of Annihilation and the destruction done to both Empires, one of them would attempt to finally secure Earth and get a major advantage over the other.
Also during Annihilation Super-Skrull finally became somewhat impressive, and it seems like they will stop making him a jobber. Hopefully during this event the writers will take the opportunity to make the Skrull more of an actual threat, instead of keeping to the statis quo in which they are nothing more than a bunch of lame boobs with cool technology.

I must admit, I had my doubts about it but #1 was actually really good. Looks like Bendis took the criticism of "House of M" and #1 in particular for being slow and actually changed his style accordingly, because a LOT goes down here.

Yeah, you get at least 3 Skrull reveals and a couple major events against the core story of the crashing ship and it's occupants. A much better start than I had expected.

I would fully expect #2 to be a bit slower though. One thing that was a really pleasant surprise was the fact that Yu's art was tolerable, bordering on good at times. His recent New Avengers work had me terrified this would look awful, but the inker really helped him here.
EDIT: The cover for (I assume) Secret Invasion: Inhumans #1:
Lucky costume.

I have had reservations about the whole Secret Invasion. Part of me hopes it will finally answer some long hanging questions and tie up various loose ends. The other part realizes that like everything Marvel has been doing it will only create more questions and leave various old ones unsolved (often forgetting about them entirely).
I must admit I was surprised at certain elements, mostly the reveals. But what got me the most was the last page...I am still not sure what to make of it.

Theory: The Sentry we see in Secret Invasion #1 is a Skrull
Why do I think this?
TWICE in issue, when Tony has his alien virus induced seizure, the Sentry offers to "take him" or "fly him away." Granted, this could just be genuine concern for a teammate, but he was offering this BEFORE any other method of transport or dealing with the problem was presented. And since this goes down right when all other sources of strength and power were being assualted (both locations and individuals), I can only assume Skrull Sentry would have taken Tony away, never to be seen again.
Besides, it's been theorized that his wife Lindy is a Skrull, based on the fact Ultron killed her in the first Mighty Avengers arc, only for her to magically pop up alive again. At the time, it was said that the Sentry used his power to do so, but now I'm not so sure. Plus, her comment to Tony in #7 about "find a way to depower him or kill him" was downright creepy on a reread yesterday. I bet that sometime after the "Venombomb" arc and before #1 of this title Skrull Lindy somehow made the switch.
Am I completely crazy?

Maybe Sentry will always be a skrull and we can get his useless ass out of here.
