I'm working.
Makes me really sad, because Darwin Cooke (New Frontier) will be at my LCS.

I was hoping to get over there some time this weekend, but am also working so not sure if I can make it.
It is kinda nice because the local store saves all the free handouts for a while, I could probably go in next weekend and still get some free stuff.

After I'm through with some MP3 player stuff, I'll be heading out the door to my local comic shop for some of the free stuff... along with my usual shopping list. Heh! Actually, on a serious note, I may also be visiting another local shop, to check in on how the owner is doing. (About a week ago, he was shot in a robbery attempt at his comic store. As far as I remember, he was still listed in stable, but critical, condition.)

Bummer.
I didn't go to my Krypton Comics store as there was a big old line for special guest Jeremy Bulloch. No way in hell will I stand in line that long. I did go to two others and got some good deals. One store had in addition to the free comics, were offering up five free boxes filled with random comics. Limit of five. I picked up Spider-Man Unlimited #1 and Batman Annual #26 there. Over at the other one, they had three $1.00 boxes and one $3.00 box. I snagged "Robin II: The Joker's Wild" #2-4, Justice League Task Force #6 and four DC Silver Age classics that reprint classic firsts. I got the reprints for Showcase #4 and #27, as well as Adventure Comics #247 and The Brave & The Bold #28. The first appearences of Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, the JLA and the Legion. Plus I got DC Universe #0 and Action Comics #864. I also picked up the free X-Men comic.
Now I find out someone a bit of a ways from me is selling comics from a collection of 20,000 this weekend. For .25 each. I'm going with someone to be on the safe side, though it's probably a harmless person. But in this day and age, I take no chances.

Our city's lone comic shop didn't advert it that well, but I got there and picked up Superman, X-men, Transformers, Simpsons, Jughead, a collection of previews and then bought one of the Schlock Mercenary comics because every time I see the writer at our annual symposium, I swear I'm going to buy one of his books someday.
