Dear Greg Land. For some reason you seem to get a lot of high profile gigs. Recently you worked on the Ultimate Power cross over, and you've just gotten to draw for Uncanny. Our first look at your art could be seen in the free comic book day X-Men comic.
The reason I am writing you is simple. Stop. just stop. You have two major problems with your art. The first is your women. Hell all your characters. They all look like they are in the middle of sex. Examples.
I'm fairly sure she is in a fight.
And theres Pixie, who looks about the same. But she's 14. 14 Land.
This cover. LOOK AT THIS COVER. Why? Why are you doing this?
Next, you trace. A lot. sometimes it's your own work
Which is pretty bad and lazy. But when you steal (yes steal, because thats what you do), it's even worse
COME ON. Thats not even trying to be different. You trace. It's lazy. You steal. And your women are horrible.
Now I don't read Uncanny, but the idea of your working near Brubaker scares the hell out of me. If you touch Captain America I will freak out.
FREAK.
OUT.
Do covers every once in a while like Liefield, but otherwise just stop.

It should be illegal for Liefield to hold anything that could potentially be used for doodling.
Greg Land draws pretty pictures. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I don't avoid books he's drawing.

I dont see anything wrong with it.
Considering Witchblade, Dawn, and other temptresses are drawn in more provacative poses but nothing is said about them.
The comics world cant stay in the 50's.
Gotta catch up sooner or later to the modern culture or it wont survive.

This is pretty much how I feel. I enjoy the look and that's that. I don't have a problem with the tracing when it's his own work or a photo. But when he does it to someone else's art it's just plain wrong.

At first glance, Land's stuff is pretty. But the more I see of it, the more static and inconsistent the characters seem. Characters always seem to be posing; and every female manages to look different panel to panel while at the same time looking like every other woman he draws (how he has accomplished this I don't know - but it's a special kind of fail).

Its not like a big secret in the comic world--you wanna be popular, you draw the girls in sexy and provocative poses. Of course, there is a limit. At Wizardworld in Chicago a couple of weeks back we were talking with Jim Califore, who relayed to us that the DC editors did send out a directive to some of their artists to "Stop showing Mary Marvel's a**"...of course, as a character she is under age amd her costume doesn't lend itself to clevage poses...the trials of the artist these days
