Episodes 1, and 3. In episode 1 Kara explains that when she made the trip to earth (That she can't remember much of), she does remember one part, she explains she saw a flash of a star system with a *"Trinary"* star system with a gas giant. (the sequence that is better seen in episode 3). And that to Kara the key to the next clue to earth is in that system, hence her aromatic voyage on the sewage ship on a fruitless search of a non-existent trinary cluster that she and Gaeta cannot find.
That is until Leoben helps her out a bit i'll wager.

Mustafar_66 posted: Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed we aren;t going to be going to the real Earth (as in ours). This whole trinary system seems a bit stupid.
It may seem silly... *but* I think the point of the this little quest is two fold.
1) to find the next clue to earth
2) to get Kara over her Cylon hatred... I think... and to help her with her eventual destiny which i think my include leading both the remaining humans and Rebel cylons to earth... maybe... But I am sure its get her back in touch with leoben for some character plot ...

And thus primary reason #1 that Starbuck has become a footnote.
When this all began with the miniseries, Starbuck was breaking the cliches...she was fiery and masculine, hardnosed and more then a match for the guys... and yet still sexy, feminine, endearing, and occasionally sweet.
But then they slowly chewed away at that...in particular with the Leoben subplot...and especially since the New Caprica days...to the point that now all she is a hysterical, semi-insane, super-horny piece of "plot".
The writers got her off Galactica for the same reason out of universe that they did in universe...she's a dead weight psycho with nothing to contribute to real evolving story...so she goes to search for earth...great...glad so much has come of that...When she suddenly "finds" earth in a couple episodes and comes back to the fleet, she'll have that to contribute and that'll be about it.
Kara Thrace is the easiest character in the series to read out:
1) She'll find Earth
2) She'll live happily ever after with Apollo (why else did they torpedo BOTH of their marriages?)
Her plot is empty...and filling it with cylon/human "plot filler" doesn't improve the show.

Yeah, I have to agree, the quality of her character has been sunk fairly low. I have hope that things will improve after her character "proves she's not insane" and finally gets some validation.
As for the happily ever after... na Starbuck will die in the shows finally. (hunch) It will be one of those "Now she is at peace things" after some sacrifice.

Dying is too easy for her.
It takes more courage for her to "live".
She's too willing to be a sacrifice for them to let that happen.
I'd suspect Apollo to die before Starbuck.

No...I don't expect either to die...but if one were to go, it'd be Apollo.
i suspect the following folks won't live to see the final credits roll:
Roslin
Admiral Adama
Tigh
Six (any of them)
Tory
________
People I get the gut feeling will live:
Tyrol
Starbuck
Athena
Baltar

Him and the Chief both. I don't know how much longer they can take it. Tori will kee on going whacko until someone figures her out. Anders... well... we know what Kara will do to him if she finds out. And Leoben will be on the ship int he next episode, so that'll get interesting.
I just don't know why they don't turn themselves in, so they don't go postal, and fufil their Cylon programming and shoot the Old Man like Boomer did. I know they're trying to be strong, but really, is this what's best for the fleet? If Tigh was really the officer that he's trying to be, he'd be locked up next to Six, not visiting her on a daily basis.

No.
Self Preservation comes hand in hand with duty...unless you are a suicide unit...and I don't get that notion from the Colonials.

Him and the Chief both.
I don't see Chief offing himself. Nick gives him something to live for. Only way I see him dying is if he sacrifices his own life to save someone else's (or to kill Tory when he finds out she killed Cally).

He's in the same boat as Kara.
These characters were singularly driven...and losing that or denied that, become wrecks...neither character would blink an eye if death were staring them right in the face.
The challenge ahead of both of these characters is to find something worth "living" for...For Kara...it's finding Earth at present. The Chief has not found his yet (his kid isn't going to cut it because right now the doubts about this cylon business are wrapped up in his Hybrid-kid)...
It will take courage for them to live on...it would be too easy and empty for them to die.

To be honest, I'm not as enamoured of this show as I once was. There's just too much angst in this show, and without any contrast. There's not one healthy relationship in the entire fleet - even Tyrol's kid is crying in every scene he's in! Would it kill the writers to implement a story where Tyrol actually does something with his son? It's a non-relationship. Worse, it's a relationship where Chief looks at him like a burden.
The show has always been dark. But it found ways to balance this out. Now that Baltar has gone serious and is spouting heavy-handed religious nonsense, that humour counter-balance has been lost. What's more, we're watching virtually every speaking role character go through some angst-ridden story which sees them descending into madness or depression. The show needs external stimuli, like Cylons or a threat, to happen fast in order to pull everyone out of their misery.
I suppose my two problems with the show at the moment are that 1) I don't want Baltar to be redeemed and 2) I don't like Starbuck that much and like her as a loon even less.
