We haven't seen Cylon-Cylon conception before this, but both are capable, and I think that might have been missed. Obviously the Cylon women can get pregnant, we knew that from Athena. But I think some folk may have over looked that the men aren't impotent - at least the members of the Five - because Tyrol got Callie pregnant. So if these guys can do it, and the women can do it........
If I remember correctly, it seemed implied in the first season when boomer got pregnant that the missing ingredient was love. Very few cylons had falled in love at this point. Perhaps the emotion triggers bodily responses that allows them to become pregnant, some kind of weird birth control in a way. The Six did ask Tigh if he loved her, so obviously she must be in love with him, and perhaps that is why she got pregnant.

The big thing that I haven't seen anyone mention about Caprica's pregnancy is that it puts Helo back on the table as a possible Cylon. Before, everyone wrote him off since it had been said that Cylons weren't able to produce children with each other, but now he (and Cally if she was still alive) are open to speculation.

Wired's new, extensive interview with Ronald D. Moore.
In it, among many other things, he discusses how he'd utterly given up on the Caprica prequel project until Sci-Fi greenlit it almost utterly out of the clear blue sky this past spring (goosed in part by the WGA strike last fall).
BTW, I also agree that cutting to Roslin after D'Anna's statement in the teaser-promo is misdirection. When they cut to Roslin, she moves her head in such a way that suggests she's standing next to someone, most likely Anders. Two other factors against Roslin being Number Five:
- RDM recently outright stated to TV Guide than none of the remaining primary cast are the Fifth Hidden Cylon, and he specifically named Adama, Roslin, Apollo, Starbuck, and Baltar as being out of the running in the interview.
- Also, Roslin was onboard the Galactica at the exact moment the "triggering" occurred for the Hidden Four, and she was never summoned to the junction-room as Tigh, Anders, and the others were, nor did she hear the Bob Dylan tune.
I still maintain that it's Romo Lampkin, as he was completely off-ship (or, at least was apparently off-ship) by the time the fleet jumped to the Ionian Nebula; likewise, it's eminently possible that Number Five has always been self-aware of his/her Cylonic identity all along, and thus never even needed to be triggered the way Tigh and the rest were.
Which -- again -- would completely rule out Laura Roslin as a candidate.
Also: "Leland." (Hunh.)
Too bad about Romo's cat, though...looks like my hopes and dreams for a "Jake & Lance Kill The Evil Murdering Bastard Cylons!" dog-and-cat afterschool kiddie team-up cartoon show just got flushed right down the crapper.
Thanks, Ron.

Yeah Leeland and Callandra, blech! I'm thinking #3 was talking to Anders, not Roslin, that's a big thing to give away in a teaser.

I don't know that I agree with that assessement. Nobody in the Fleet seemed to have a problem with the Adamas commanding the only remaing Colonial Battlestars. Besides, if Admiral Adama will listen to anybody, its Lee.
Leto II posted: The change-up did give us one of the best endings in a long time: the view of Adama alone in a Raptor, as everyone one else in the Human race disappears all around him. What an eerie sequence. One man with a beloved book, left alone in his bubble with the universe.
I agree. That was an awesome ending. The image of Adama, alone in a Raptor, calming cracking open a book as the entire human race disappears around him was very creepy. I got a definet Omega Man vibe.

Also, he was the perfect character for it.
That final shot gave the impression of a man with a deep soul, and fittingly.

It was a great and moving shot --I completely agree.
But it is not the only time that they have left Raptors behind to check for snoopers or trailers. In this case, he's waiting for stragglers, but it's not that out of the norm. The main thing that makes it different is that it's the Old Man.
And he knows how to get back and catch up with the fleet. I'm sure it'll work itself out... 'cause BSG without EJO would not be BSG at this point.

Has it occured to anyone that a Cylon is now in command of the Fleet?
I'm reminded of what Adama said to Roslin during Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down. "If I'm a Cylon you're really screwed."

well if 3 is talking to Anders...then most likely the 12th is not on the basestar.
I think they may have actually given it away...I think they knew it would ignite a storm of discussion about the idea.
But what they are setting up is not the reveal of who the 12th is...but how and why, which will be completely out of left field.
I have a suggestion when it comes to the "idea" of the 12th cylon model.
The idea is...the 12th is a perfect human.
The cylons nailed it...and perhaps the 12th is either a "tanked" perfection, or what I think is more likely, an original cylon/cylon child, carefully guided through natural gestation, to be born as a completely normal human.
Moreover, to be totally human, they take her off the link...she can't be "awaken" like the 4...she can't be identified as such...moreover, nothing in her or about her would indicate she was a cylon except for the truth of her past, which will be a matter of believing a story.
And thus, none of the remaining main characters is a cylon, because the 12th model is not a cylon.
As such, with Roslin dying fast, the cylons are going to be FASCINATED with the prospect of their progeny enduring the final hours of her life...that is what we are going to see...the cylons watching Roslin die.
Just a theory anyway.

Interesting theory, but all the clues point towards a specific individual.
Also, it seems likely that the Final Five originated on Earth, based on comments and clues from both RDM and what the Hybrid said.
I'm just wondering how much will be revealed in the next two episodes. The next one looks incredible, and the cliffhanger is supposed to be massive.
Peace,

Yeah, but Tigh doesn't seem to have been programed to do anything sinister, not yet anyways. Maybe the final five aren't programed with any hidden agenda, but I guess time will tell.

My predictions:
The next episode will focus exclusively on the Basestar storyline. They'll untank D'Anna, the rebels will take her and blow the hub (leaving Cavill permanently dead, and putting Boomer in charge of the mainstream cylons, hence becoming the big villain for the latter half of the season) They will meet up with Adama near the end of the episode. Adama, Roslin, Helo, D'Anna, Leoben, and the surviving rebels and Galactica pilots will be unable to meet up with the the fleet, and will instead go off and find earth on their own in the mid-season finale.
President Lee and Admiral Tigh will be left wandering through space, trying to find Earth the slow way. The mid-season webisodes will deal with life in the fleet with Adama and Roslin gone. There will be another huge time-jump when the show returns in 2009, a la Lay Down Your Burdens II, and the beginning of season 4.5 will deal with the survivors of the basestar trying to contact the fleet, the rebels attempting to make contact with the final five aboard Galactica and Colonial One, and Boomer's faction hunting both parties and racing the fleet to Earth.
On another note:
I've been trying to figure out what the Cylon's numbering will ultimately mean. It was long assumed until this season began that the 12th cylon would be Number One, who we now know is Cavill. It would make sense that Nine, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve are Tigh, Tory, Anders, and Tyrol (not necessarily in that order) which, is I'm correct, leaves Number Seven as the 12th. The only one of the open cylons whose number isn't in order is the Sharon model (D'Anna: "Her model was always weak" ...hmm) so what significance is there that the 12th cylon is numbered so irregularly, and that the Sharons are numbered after the 12th, a unique feature among the open cylons? This one's got me confubbled.
I do hope that we get an answer to this, though, and that Ron doesn't leave us hanging/forget about this point.
