From the Superman Homepage.
March 12, 2008: “Smallville” Spoilers, News and Rumors
A few people have emailed in telling us that we didn't report on TV Guide's "Ask Ausiello" saying that "Nearly everyone is expected to return for Season 8 except - wait for it, wait for it - Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk". We actually scooped Ausiello by a few days, reporting back on March 3rd that Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) will be back for at least a portion of the season, while Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) and Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) are still renegotiating their contracts. Our inside sources tell us that's all happening as we speak. Further rumors indicate that one of the main cast will actually die (permanently) in the April 17th episode titled "Descent". With E! Online's "Watch with Kristin" indicating that...
I'm hearing someone gets paralyzed and someone gets dead. Both are pretty huge twists! ... Also, Lex is getting closer to figuring out Clark's secret.

The episode wasn't that good. Pete was good. But just another filler. Next episode looks good though.

I haven't commented on the previous two episode but they have both been very good. Kara has her memory back, there's some conflict with the Luthors and I especially enjoyed the return of Brainiac in "Veritas."

I've definitely liked the past few episodes. I hope Kara and Brainiac show up again by the end of the season. Sort of glad they put Lana to the side by putting her in a comatose state

Ahhh! Okay, so in Australia they pulled Season 6 off hte air half way through (don't even get me started) so I bought the season on DVD and watched it all in a weekend, it was so good, possibly one of the best seasons yet. BUT now I can't see anymore until S7 comes out on DVD.
Can someone PLEASE tell me how Chloe lived? I know they didn't kill her off, but HOW did she not die? AND, do Lana and Clark get to be together for at least ONE episode? I really liked Lana towards the end of Season 6, she really embraced being a Luthor.
Forgive m y behind the times-ness, but I needs to know!

Chloe was dead for a time and then she came back to life, kinda like the Immortals in "Highlander". The thing is that everytime she uses her power to it's fullest like that, the time in which she is dead is longer and longer. Clark worries that if she keeps using her gift that way, she might not return to life.

Showrunners Gough and Millar exit The CW’s SMALLVILLE
Showrunners Gough and Millar
Exit The CW’s SMALLVILLE!!
I am – Hercules!!
Al Gough and Miles Millar, who served as “Smallville’s” showrunners since the show’s debut on The WB seven years ago, have left the series, according to an open letter to fan-run Web destination Kryptonsite.
“We look back at 152 episodes,” the duo wrote. “We look back knowing that the show will continue into Season 8 without us. After much heartache and debate we have decided it is time for us to move on.”
The showrunners, who scripted big-screen projects like “Shanghai Noon” and “Showtime” before they began shaping the tales of a pre-Superman Clark Kent, say they “can finally focus on features now.”
Read all of the letter here.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised and I hope it doesn't negatively affect the show.
The CW Announces New Smallville Helmers
The CW Announces New Smallville Helmers
Source: The CW
April 3, 2008
Yesterday, in an open letter, "Smallville" creators and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar shocked many saying they are not staying on for the eighth season of the show. Now, The CW has named their replacements:
"Al Gough and Miles Millar have been great partners and instrumental in the development and success of 'Smallville,'" said the network. "While we are sad to see them go, we are very excited to announce that executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will helm the show next season. [They] have been writing for the show for the past six seasons, and as producers for the last four years, they have played an integral role in the ongoing creative evolution of the series. As showrunners, they will continue to deliver the compelling storytelling that 'Smallville' fans have come to expect and love."
