Actually, it's "To Punish & Enslave". Nice little detail I must admit.

QFT.

I agree. It's that kind of touch and detail that gets me excited.

I have to agree with Koohii and give it a solid *meh* Not only for the reasons given by him and [b]Obey Wann[b] but for a few other gripes:

*The lead male character's vocabulary seemed limited to "No no no no...ohnoohnoohnoohno!"

*Actual commentary by my wife and I while watching: "Uh-oh, the bad guys are in trouble now; they're playing rock music!" And when the Autobots where meteoring to Earth it was "Oh, it must be the good guys arriving. See, they're playing the 'Here Come the Good Guys Music.'"

*To give an idea of how over-the-top some of the stuff was, my wife and I have a scale of progressive ludicrousness: Reality --> Movie Physics --> Action Movie Physics --> Michael Bay Movie Physics. An example of this is when the lead guy fell off the top of a buidling for several stories only to land safely on something big & metallic. It's like in the Island, where the lead characters land safely after falling off a freakin skyscraper. It's a phenomenon so over the top that it got parodied in "200" on Stargate SG-1, when the guy said "all you have to do is have some other character say 'boy, that was lucky,' and you don't have to write around it."

I mean I know it's a Michael Bay movie, which instantly lowers my expectations, but geeze!

I thought the special effects were pretty well done, but I don't get how Optimus Prime's semi truck body stays so spotlessly shiny through the whole movie. Even during big fights. Did anyone else notice?

Re: the fall, IIRC, Prime was also falling alongside Spike, which meant they were falling at about the same rate, and then Prime starts slowing then down with the sides of the buildings.

I just rented this movie and saw it for the first time. It was pretty entertaining. Cool graphics and nothing in the script or acting that really bugged me. Of course I wanted the nerd to not get the girl, to show what a #*(@# life is.

Yeah, I wasn't really ticked off by anything. I thought it was pretty cool, except for Prime staying spotless the entire time.

Also I thought it was cool when all the autobots were together and the medic autobot (shoot me now, I can't remember his name) says that Sam's pheremone levels suggested he wanted to mate with Makayla. I thought that was pretty funny.

So I watched Transformers on DVD tonight. I loved it, but I have a question.

What happened to the Deceptecons created by the Allspark near the end of the movie? They were never killed! Are they still running around wreaking havoc, and if so, why doesn't anyone do anything about it?

I just watched it as well. Loved it but didn't like how Prime was being owned by Megatron. Also, really would liked to have seen Soundwave. Maybe in the sequel? Also, was the Devastator in the movie supposed to be the Constructacon Devastator in the cartoon series? Prime, Soundwave and the Constuctacons were always my favorites.

The Devastator in the film is actually Brawl...but the subtitle guys didn't get the memo. Apparently it was a code-name so that people wouldn't find out which Transformers were in the film too quickly.

I think that's true for many of us.

Somewhere in the special features they mention that they attempted to get Soundwave in there, but couldn’t find a way to do it which would either make sense or do the character justice (don’t recall the exact wording).

The character Frenzy was the result – a kind of Soundwave-lite.

I thought that was good because it showed Prime wasn't completely unbeatable

I agree. I think in terms of brute force, Megatron is stronger. Prime, however, is the better tactician and strategist.
