And that's fine, but it's still the season/holiday implication, not santa-is-real.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, you think it would have worked better if instead of Tumnus saying "We haven't had a Christmas in over a hundred years," he had something like, "Father Christmas hasn't visited us in over a hundred years," which would set the stage for Santa coming back?

Exactly- or even the scene in the book mentioned earlier with the Witch coming across the Mice's feast provided by Father Christmas. Something that conveys to the audience that the references to Christmas include, or directly establish, the existence of Santa/FC as a real person in Narnia, as opposed to the season or holiday.

I personally have no problem with Father Christmas in LWW.

Prince Caspian was amazing!!! I saw it on the 16th and I was surprised at how empty the theater was. Only about 25 other people were there with us. sad

The movie itself was fantastic, it had a lot more drama then LWW, which I liked a lot. I loved the character development in both Peter and Susan, all of it was great. The battles were incredible, Peter vs. Mirax was awesome!!! I also liked all the humor, not to much but just enough to keep you smiling. "Y-you are a mouse..." laugh

In all I'd give it 4\5 stars. Only thing that prevented it from being 5\5 would be the lack of Edmund throughout the movie. sad

Agreed that Edmund was truly terrific in this movie! The scene in which he deilvers Peter's letter to Miraz was a gem of genuine emotion (= casual flippancy!) and seemingly improvised dialogue. He's a complex character with something to prove, and a darker side that informs and inspires his acts of courage and heroism. Since he's one of the major characters in the next film, I find myself really looking forward to Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

How they're going to handle the annoying Eustace in the next movie is anyone's guess. He's like the Jar Jar Binks of weasley, whiny cousins. After seeing four icons of truth and self-sacrifice command our attention in the last two films, it's going to be rather unsettling to find ourselves in the midst of that insufferable boor.

Fortunately, Eustace changes his stripes about halfway through VODT's story, so we won't have to put up too much with whiny Eustace.

Finally got a chance to see it dancing Overall, I enjoyed the movie, and..

QFT. I felt like a total perv looking at her, but then I recalled some interview that said she's 19. So at least it's not criminal tongue

Overall, an enjoyable movie, but not without some negatives: For example, it would've been nice to explain sooner than the last 5 minutes of the movie just who the Telmarines were. Even something as simple as "they invaded from a faraway land." For the vast majority of the movie I was wondering who they were, where they came from considering the whole "son of Adam" angle, and why they hated Narnians so much. That latter question still went unanswered.

The Telmarines are identified very early in the film as being a land of exclusively humans who invaded Narnia and drove its denizens into the woods. The scene in which Trumpkin (the dwarf) is smacked around by Miraz (the soon-to-be-king) in the Telmarine council chamber explains all this very clearly.

So I saw the second flick last night. Major improvement over the first but not without its flaws. It felt to me like it had a prolonged first act, prolonged third act and almost no second act...mind you thats only a first viewing and may entirely be an emotional reaction rather than an analytical. I was a big fan of how much the performance of the Lucy improved between the two films and were it not for Caspian she would have completely stole the show. I am a little sad to discover that the eldest siblings will have a reduced role in their upcoming adventures (from what I can tell this was Susan's last hurrah). And was it just me or was Edmund almost not in this one. He had the occasional witty line and played a role at all the right moments but it seemed like he was almost a secondary character to the rest. Regardless I found this enjoyable if not a little sad at the end.

FINALLY GOT IT HERE IN THE UK!
and about bloody time! what was the point in making us wait this long? outrageous! (yes deep down i know the reason but i'm still angry!)

saw it today and LOVED it. seriously, top marks all round.

the battles were nice and exciting without becoming gratuitous. i do hate films that throw in fight scenes just to kill time. all the fights and chases in this film drove the story forward as they should. the one on one sword play was good even if none of them felt as fierce as peter vs the witch in LWW.
regarding the characters, i enjoyed peter struggling with his arrogance and his desire to prove himself. his feeling too big for his boots in the real world was an interesting development which i cant remember from the book. also really liked the brotherly feeling established between himself and edmond. it felt more natural and a real development from their "why cant you do as your told" relationship from the fist film. the girls i dont have much to say about. aside from firing her bow more often, i dont feel like susan was much different this time round and the same goes for lucy. however i dont think this is too much of a flaw as the story was strong enough without them. one thing i enjoyed was the almost blind faith afforded by lucy's youth. it was a nice touch in a narnia that seems to have forgotten about aslan. i was surprised to find that i dont have too much to say about caspian. his struggle to become greater than his ancestors felt all too familiar in a film like this but it was all believable and like everything else in the film served the story in a good way.

the CG was amazing. reepicheep as a digital creation was as good as that character described and i'm glad their wasnt too many talking animals this time round which helped establish a more grown up feeling to this film.

the beginning was a tad talky talky but it provided a nice balance for the rest of the film. oh and how cool was the bit with the white witch?! that for sure wasnt in the book but i loved it. really creepy. bit strange though as in this interview tilda swinton said she had nothing to do with filming caspian. for a woman who didnt seem to know she was in the film she had a very cool scene! pun intended.

so all in all well done mr adamson. 9/10

Cool! I'm glad someone else loved it as much as I did. This is a fantasy classic that is going somewhat under-noticed amidst all of the superhero hubbub this summer.
