Dent is much more appropriately handsome than his TL Jones counterpart/predecessor; and the filmmakers seem to be making an apporpriately bigger deal about him than they did with the BD Williams character.
And that pic of Batman perched on a streetlight is, in a word, perfect. They're finally doing Batman right... again!

Glad to see a new Gotham Times. Some very interesting articles. Though I am a bit tired of the portrayal of Bruce Wayne especially in that article on him looking for a penthouse. One thing I liked about Bruce Timm's Animated Wayne was that he was a pretty good person among the social classes. He was a bit of a womanizer and swinging bachelor, but he was also good with money and business and helped others. I'm hoping Dark Knight will establish Bruce Wayne a little bit more.

I agree. I'm glad I'm not alone thinking this.
Even though I think Bale's Batman is just putting on an act of being a playboy, I wish he didn't. My favorite Bruce Waynes are the ones that are still Bruce Wayne, and not just a fake persona covering for Batman. The reason Keaton remains my favorite on-screen Batman is because of his Bruce Wayne: he was genuine and had a bit of a sense of humor.

I agree; that's one aspect of BB I didn't really like: Bruce is a boor and a jerk. This false persona helps deflect possible links with the alter ego, but the Keaton version and the animated series version were much closer to the Bruce Wayne of the comics.

I would agree accept that he is still figuring out who Bruce Wayne is. BB was about the end of the journey in many ways so its not much of a stretch that he would be still separating the parts of himself and developing a persona on two fronts. As we approach the end of the film we start to see that take shape...not just with Batman but with Bruce Wayne as well, particularly when he reveals that he has completely undermined the board of directors at Wayne Industries and bought the majority of shares ceasing control of the company again.

I gotta side with Spiderfan on this one...
The previous Bat-flicks have all dealt with a more mature Bruce Wayne who's already come to grips with his dual identity, to a certain extent, but still more so than in BB. Bale's Wayne is also hellbent on taking down the mob, he really doesn't care about having any other life outside of the suit. He basically creates this "Bruce" persona to appease Alfred. This man has lived a very different life than most people, he's seen and done things many wouldn't dare or dream of, he's bored with that socialite B* and just wants to concentrate on doing what he feels he needs to. I think they're approaching the character from a more realistic perspective, they gave him more depth. I think he does an excellent job in the role.
Also, we really can't include the party scene in this discussion, considering the reasons behind his acting like an ass. That was simply a tool to get everyone to safety before the fit hit the shan...

I'm not upset with what he did in Begins. I just want to see it end in Dark Knight and have Bruce restore honor to the family name a little bit and start being shown as a pretty good business man and person in general. The other mediums had no problem showing him partying and having a new woman every week, but they also establish a pretty good businessman and person. And since they've taken care of partier, women, and businessman, they just need to show the good person part a little more.

Fair enough, you guys have convinced me. The BB Wayne is a youthful template, a clean slate if you will, upon which to build up the mature persona we know from the comics and the other movies. I just hope Nolan is indeed steering the character (or the character within the character) in that direction.

The Dark Knight runtime
Meanwhile early word on "The Dark Knight" is that Chris Nolan's cut clocks in at nearly three hours and it's unlikely to be cut down much further despite the studio's desire for a more manageable 150 minutes. Nolan's "Batman Begins" came in at 140 minutes so a slightly longer runtime for the sequel doesn't seem surprising and the immaculately conceived Devin Faraci over at CHUD thinks that, and I tend to agree, it'll probably come in at about 165 mins.
