A third Batman would need:

Two-Face (duh)

Robin (I think it would be time...and done with seriousness would be amazing!)

Catwoman

and I think that would cover it.

As far as a fourth movie:

I think if you did Mr. Freeze in the RIGHT way...not the Schwarzenegger/Schumacher abortion...with frozen seriousness and less glitzy absurdity...it would be amazing...take the cartoon approach to the character...it would work.

Riddler could work, again if they ejected every element of the Jim Carey/Schumacher character assassination...make him less of a loser and more of a reclusive savant.

And of course, I'm all for surviving villains to ride again...I'd love to see Joker/Two-face actually locked up in Arkham rather then lying dead on the pavement.

No, just no Marine. No Harley, and no Freeze. Harley isn't included, although a cameo is possible. The problem with Freeze is that he is just too cheesey a character at first glance. Batman TAS origin is perfect. And he is a dark, amazing character to use. But he just doesn't fit into the Nolanverse. With time perhaps. But it is unlikely. Riddler isn't a reclusive sevant ever though. He's really kind of pathetic. Like in long Halloween, the end of Hush...lots of times. He even failed at being a detective. Smart, but pathetic.

My personal choice is still scarface, but Twoface can carry a movie all his own. Just use him properly. The obsession with duality.

I believe Nolan said he would never do Robin, so unless someone else comes in for three I doubt you will be seeing him. Quite honestly I doubt Nolan won't be back for three, given the direction things are going.

Well given some of this "protege/partner" stuff they want to develop with Dent...I could see them turn around and make that an element of the 3rd film.

Heck...maybe they don't even intend him as "Robin"...they simply have him take in Grayson as a kid...he never runs off and goes into the fight with Batman, but you can still create the character...personally, I could see the role being an excellent expansion on the "detective" aspect of Batman...he's not just a mob-buster...and Robin could be the junior detective element that enhances that.

In terms of Freeze...Freeze can be done in Nolan's universe...in fact...I think it has to be done in Nolan's universe...otherwise we get this:

You bring Mr. Freeze into a realistic setting, I think we'd be lauding it as much as Neeson's Ras Al Ghul. And if they got somebody with some real CHOPS to do the role! It would be a lot of work...a lot more then any other character they could pick...but Nolan seems to be up the challenge...and WB seems committed to this new path...FINALLY (until schumacher tries to weasle back in)

Riddler is a master in his mind...He is diminutive in the face of others because he knows his power is in the masks...he is not a homocidal maniac...he's not a bruiser...but he's also really not suited for the "lackey" role as he's often portrayed. He's much better off isolated...playing his games from a distance...and drawing in his enemy to a web he's constructed...only there being confident enough to spar with the Bat (the ONLY part of "Forever" that got Riddler right, and then they ruined it with absurd sets and props).

Personally, I could see them dropping little clues across several sequels of a "riddler" out there...and see it all come together well off...perhaps Riddler is the mind behind bringing Joker into Gotham for the Mob...perhaps Riddler is the mentor of scarecrow...etc etc.

The Riddler doesn't have to be a geek turned thief...

At the same time, I would use much of the same reasoning to advance the Penguin as something different then his normal "compensating" personae.

I still think the Riddler would be better suited as a character akin to Scarecrow where he isn't the main villain but working for someone bigger, as some sort of demented genius who is obsessed with patterns and problem solving and likely some kind of hacker who's online handle is The Riddler.

There is a rumor floating around that a british actress called Sarah Jayne Dune had been cast as Dr Harly Quinn, I think it may just be as a cameo

Seeing as the Penguin is primarily an arms dealer in the comics, sometimes even helping Batman nowadays, I could see him showing up. I don't know how it would fit, but the character could work for sure. Also, he should be Philip Seymore Hoffman.

I've been re watching a lot of TAS lately, and I still can't quite figure out who make a good villain for a third.

I think it's still too soon to bring Freeze into the Nolan Batverse. There are still too many bad memories of Arnold's Freeze in many fans minds to make it work at the moment (same with Ivy. I have a feeling even with the eco themes we will never see Ivy in the Nolan Batverse. Schumacher and Thurman ruined her completely).

I do however if Freeze does get to be played the idea of using TAS origin. That was what was used for Freeze in B&R but then Schumacher went and gave the film too many one liners and the fact that the used TAS origin was lost on the fans and gave them a bad taste in their mouths for Freeze as a result. If Nolan did Freeze I would think he would probably take more care to give Freeze the dignity the character deserves.

That being said let me through a name out there to play Freeze: Patrick Stewart.

I could see Ivy been some plant enthusiast that was originally responsible to discovering the agents in Ra's Al Ghul's blue flowers and helped him extract said agents, for their potent reactions.

In 1996, I totally agreed.

In 2008, after 3 X-mens and a likely cameo in the upcoming Wolverine...he's typecast to a comic role already.

My new choice number 1...Ed Harris.

I am not sure if its typecasting if he is playing the same character throughout. Besides...he's been typecast to the Sci-Fi genre since the mid 80s. tongue

I dunno...I rather liked him as Scrooge and Captain Ahab. wink

And even if he was willing...I could see a war develop between Fox/Marvel and WB/DC over his services...I could see Fox paying him gobs of money just to "not" play another comic character...even a villain.

I can't imagine Marvel would be keen on having their "Professor X" in the flesh playing a DC criminal mastermind.

though it would be awesome if they credited "Mr. Freeze - Charles Xavier"

but awesome jokes like that could never make the big screen.

And the opposite is true to...DC doesn't want a character in their film who is significantly associated with a Marvel franchise.

There are other actors out there.

Watch Ed Harris in Enemy at the Gates...he plays a very neutral, unfeeling, sniper...with just enough false empathy to make you feel compassion for the guy...he could translate to Freeze, and we've got an "oscar" buzz for a superhero movie.
