You mean the guy nobody under the age of 15 could tell was the same guy from X-men to Superman Returns because of the headgear he wore?
Heck...even older people still don't make the connection.
Alright fine...stick some goggles on Stewart and make him freeze.
I doubt very much it will happen.
Edit: oh, I'm sure Marsden was Singers idea, not DC's.

Doesn't change the fact that an actor playing a critical Marvel character, ended up being in a Warners/DC film.

well if Nolan grips the the studio by the brass and says he'll walk without Stewart, he'll get him.
But that's a lot to assume from Nolan for a guy he hasn't worked with.
WB and DC bent over backward to appease Singer on Superman Returns...hoping it would be as successful as his X-men stuff...and Singer had the standing relationship with Marsden.
To my knowledge, Nolan has never worked with Stewart...so it would be Nolan demanding an actor that the "fans" want.
I've got to say, I am shocked that there is no wiggle room for any one else in the role. Captain Picard was not born to play Mr. Freeze.
Actually...that's probably the worst part...I'd see Locutus in Mr. Freeze if he did it.

Indeed...all thats being said is that simply because its improbable doesn't mean its impossible. Quite frankly none of us know who will play what character in the future, and as best as an educated guess can be, it can still be wrong.

So spread the risk around...suggest some other actors that might be possible.
What about David Duchovny?
He's got the dead pan delivery...shave his head...who knows.
I think his biggest obstacle would be his voice...but if Ledger can pull off Joker when I doubted him, anything is possible.

All the popular choices for Freeze are too old, in my opinion. Actors like Patrick Stewart and Ben Kingsley just wouldn't work because of their age, I think.
What do you guys think of Guy Pearce as Freeze? He's a great actor and he's worked with Nolan before.

Freeze is too sci-fi to work in the realistic world Nolan has created/interpreted for his Batman movies. It also hasn't been long enough since that Schumacher abortion to re-tread the character.

Why is he too sci-fi? He doesn't have to have "freeze rays"...you could probably even find a way around the "cold suit".
Give him some freon to play with and play up his heartless, cold calculation.
Have the film take place in the middle of winter, and he can torture victims buy trapping them under river ice or something like that.
You can make him be more "real".
______________
I agree on the freshness of Batman and Robin...but that's why I don't see Freeze being a villain until a 4th film at the earliest...which puts it another 5 years out at the very least.
More likely we wouldn't see Freeze appear until they've turned it into a full blown serial again...by which point Bale and Nolan are both gone anyway.

^ ^ ^ But then he wouldn't be Mr. Freeze! -- just some guy "playing with freon". The entire proposition strains credibility and logic. With as many excellent foes as Batman has that are relatively realistic, there is no need IMO to strip a sci-fi character of his sci-fi-ness in order to shoehorn him into a verisimilitudinous world like the "Nolanverse".

I don't think I'd like to see a reincarnation of Freeze in the Nolan universe.

well I disagree...I can see the fullness of the Batman franchise as a possibility in Nolan's vision...it is actually MORE possible to do things in this universe then in the absurd surreal direction Burton and especially Schumacher continued to take it.
And I do see Freeze as being more a character of inner depth then a metal suit and ray gun...but even if you can't live without them...they can find a way...they can make all the Bat gadgets work...they can make Freeze work.
I am not denying it's a stretch that we would even GET to a Mr. Freeze movie...but dismissing out of hand a classic character cause he "doesn't fit" in what is still a fictional universe, no matter how close to "real" it mimics...come on...we are talking about a man jumping around in costume with a cape...and THAT works.

A guy in a costume and cape is not the same thing as a guy in a suit that keeps his body temperature below freezing in order to keep him alive. If you can't see the difference there in terms of real-world believability, I don't know what to tell you.

I would want to see an older Mr. Freeze if any at all. I'm still not convinced he should be in the Nolan films.

The Dark Knight soundtrack listing (potential spoilers).
Also, James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer talk The Dark Knight score.
Good stuff.
When they talk about how Zimmer tackled the Joker, and Howard tackled Dent, that's a collaboration that makes sense to me; it creates a contrast greater than you'd get with a single composer. Especially if they integrate the Zimmer's "Joker Theme" into Howard's "Dent Theme" to create a "Two-Face Theme" down the road...
And finally:
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins teaser-trailer to be attached to TDK.
