Very cool photo. Does anyone know how it factors into the story?

Actually I do.
The filming is occuring just down the road from me at Blacksmiths Beach, Blacksmith, NSW Australia!
The story is that it's doubling as one of the Normandy beaches aka WW2
There have been several pyro-technic effects mainly just small explosions sending up sand in the air. Nothing over the top so I assume that will be CG.
Some side information on the beach itself: It's actually quite long, a couple of kilometers at least. It's alsoo fairly wide from the water to wear the land rises, in some parts fairly high but not scale proof. It's a fairly popular beach around here and is a national competition beach for surfing, iron man stuff etc. Hopefully some of you might have heard about Bondi beach in Sydney, well it's 10 times better and has 100 times less the people crowding it. Though, it's fairly cold and deserted this time of year. Plus there's no real buildings close to the shore other than the livesaving club but as i understand it, they are shooting at the far end of the beach. We are about 2 hours north of Sydney itself.

It commented on in the X-men movie he could be as old from WW2...

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

He's still older than that too.

IIRC he is roughly 120 years old...give or take a year.

That was the first thing that crossed my mind as well. Its a shame they won't likely crossover those elements.

Yeah, Cap is set for release in 2011. They haven't even entered pre-production or written a script, much less cast the actor, designed the suit, established his place in the Marvel movie-verse, etc.

Well I was thinking more about the lack of crossover for the properties that Marvel doesn't control...like the X-Men films.

They could still have a Steve Rogers cameo, even if they haven't cast the actor for the Captain America movie. Or they could make mention of "The Heroic Captain America dying in an explosion" on a radio broadcast, or something.

But if they haven't cast him yet...? And why would they put a reference to Cap's latter-day death in a prequel story about Wolverine? I mean, I'm a big fan of Captain America: he's probably my favorite Marvel character behind Thor. But I think references to him should be confined to the Avengers-brand movies: Iron Man (where we already see his shield lying on Stark's lab table), Hulk, and Ant-Man if they decide to make that one.

1) She is reffering to his disappearance in 1945 near the end of the war when they assumed he was dead. He doesn't need to be cast to have a name-drop or mention.
2) Wolverine and Cap have a long history and supposedly fought together during WW2. Its not out of place to have a reference to what would have been the most significant soldier of the day, someone Logan would be familiar with.

Yeah, I'd love to have Jackman cameo in the Cap movie- just have him show up during a battle in WW2, don't say his name, have Cap give him an order and have Logan go "Whatever you say, bub." or something.

Actually I would love for them to call him "Lucky Jim."

I remember the days when Cap didn't know Wolverine from WWII and actively disliked him.
Retconning, grrr.
