Meridian and Solitudes has probably been the hardest one to choose between so far for me. The former is just a great emotional episode, and the latter is, well, that too, though on a more restrained note, not to mention it basicly is the origin of the Atlantis storyline. I ended up going with Solitudes, though- it's just one of my favorite episodes period- I'm a sucker for snow/ice world environments.

Though, last batch's A Matter of Time vs Reckoning part 2 was up there in terms of hard choice- how can one choose between what it arguably the best gate-problem episode (outside of Window of Opportunity) and what is essentially the ultimate climax of the first eight seasons?

ok...wow it's hard now.

GDO Match 1: The Curse

GDO Match 2: Double Jeopardy

DHD Match 1: Out of Mind

DHD Match 2: Children of the Gods
*note* this was extremely difficult given the relative nature of both stories...essentially both being "beginning" stories in themselves. Moebius nearly wins just for the lake scene.

"you weren't there!" laugh

All things being equal, I have to tip my hat to the pilot. Nudity is the tiebreaker! drooling

MALP Match 1: The Gamekeeper
*note* I'm pretty darn sure that I will be in the minority in this matchup. Lost City could've (and now that I've seen the finale, should've) been the Series finale. The battle is epic, the emotion is raw...and when Hammond goes to ram Anubis' ship, you're scream "YOU ROCK HAMMOND>>>GO BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Unfortunately the crisscrossed Weirs, the rehash of the ancient learning device, and the finale fate of Jack (which is connected unavoidably to how lame they bring him back) results in this one falling a few pegs when looking at it from a pure objective "how does the episode work on it's own feel."
Gamekeeper, though a touch on the Star Trekish side of plots SG1 ever did, was fun, interesting from beginning to end, and an overall strong episode.
...my peace is said...perhaps I sway a single vote?

maybe?

probably not...oh well.

MALP Match 2: The Fifth Race - By far the easiest pick of this round...when the learning device was new and cool!

The one thing I'll say about Gmaekeeper is at least Unending didn't end with the twist of SG-1 still being inside those game machines all this time... wink
