I haven't heard all of Queen's soundtrack to "Flash Gordon" in years. In fact, I haven't even watched that film in years. I do watch "Highlander" on a bit of a regular basis and own "A Kind Of Magic". There are definately a number of good songs for "Highlander". "Princes Of The Universe", especially the first 1:30 of the song kicks ass and serves as one of the best main title themes for a film and a television series. "Who Wants To Live Forever" is one of the best love themes and truly captures the scope of what it means to be an Immortal.

The movie Flash Gordon and the tv show and film Highlander were good, but became great because of the music of Queen.
My fav:
There's no time for us
There's no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?
Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Who dares to love forever?
When love must die
But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today
Who waits forever anyway?

*Sigh*... I miss operatic rock music. I agree with Darth-Sinister that the opening of 'Princes of the universe' is great. I use to watch the opening credits of the TV show just for that.
Also love Flash Gordon...

Also, Queen worked with composer Michael Kamen to produce the soundtrack for the first film. Kamen's orchrestra can be heard in "Who Wants To Live Forever" and Freddie Mercury's vocals could be heard in the prelude to the cut "Under The Garden" and is reprised right before the fight atop the Silvercup building. Not so much singing as different wordless singing. And of course, Queen's work was used for six seasons of Highlander the series. Including "Don't Lose Your Head" which is a reworking of "A Dozen Red Roses For My Lover". Had Freddie not passed on, Queen would've most likely done the sequels and contribute an original tune or two for the series. Anchor Bay and Panzer/Davis productions paid a fairly good tribute by including the music videos on the 2002 DVD release. As well as a bonus disc that had "Princes Of The Universe", "One Year Of Love" (Extended) and "Friends Will Be Friends".

Queen had a year to come up with a theme for Flash Gordon. The best idea they could come up with was "FLASH! ah-AAAAH"
"Who Wants to Live Forever" was written in the car on the drive home from seeing a preliminary showing.
I'm sure that says something about the two movies. I'm just not sure what.

Queen definitely helped make the original Highlander film one of the best in the genre.
The scene with Christopher Lambert remaining ageless during "Who Wants to Live Forever" still moves me to tears.

Yes, but that "FLASH! ah-AAAAH" is one of the most iconic movie themes of sci-fi history. And it's three flippin notes.

Nah, "Princes Of The Universe" was more epic sounding and feeling. Watch the opening of the first film and seasons 4-6 of "Highlander The Series". It is one of the best opening themes when done right.

What's the difference between 4-6 and 1-3?
Just wondering. I don't remember any, but it's been 12 years since I watched the show...

Season one had Adrain Paul do the narration, but it wasn't epic. Kinda dull. Season two began with Jim Byrnes doing the narration, which was used in season three. But four through six also added music by series composer Roger Bellon, which underscored Duncan's life. Giving it depth over the silence, save for wind chimes from seasons 2 and 3.
