Ah. Of course I've seen it, but don't (yet) have the dialogue memorized.
I'm sure Butler would be fine in the role of Thor -- though I'm still hoping for a younger actor, someone in his 20s, to fit the bill of the youthful, prideful, pre-banishment god.

There are at least 6 lines in that movie you need to go and memorize before you can post here again.

Hah! Sez you. I found 300 pretty to look at, and well-acted, but stupefyingly overblown, overwrought, and devoid of true emotion and/or insight into the human condition. It was all blood splatters and masterful CGI action sequences -- which can be fun -- but where's the truth? The beauty? The introspection into the souls of men? Perhaps I missed something with my first and only viewing, but it seemed morally vacant to me, which I will not abide in any film.
As to Butler, I'd rather see him in a new Conan film than as the God of Thunder. I really like him in Phantom of the Opera, though. *shrug*

The shortcomings of 300 are overshadowed by it's Lexicon of Badassery being of a calibre not seen in almost 15 years.

Yes, I think Pitt is awesome -- his turn as Achilles in Troy is a stunning tour de force, IMO -- but his age is showing, and the script Vaughan wants calls for a Thor in his early 20s.

Matthew Vaughn is unfortunately no longer attached to this project.
Spoiler TV posted: Vaughn No Longer Directing Marvel's Thor?
Directing a Marvel movie just doesn't appear to be in the cards for filmmaker Matthew Vaughn. The Stardust and Layer Cake helmer had been set to direct X-Men: The Last Stand a few years ago before dropping out and being replaced by Brett Ratner. Vaughn was then attached to bring Marvel's Norse god of thunder, Thor, to the big-screen, but that is reportedly no longer the case as well.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Matthew Vaughn no longer is attached to direct the project because his holding deal expired December."
Marvel Studios is currently waiting for I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich to turn in a script polish. "It's very much a Marvel superhero story but against the backdrop of nothing you've seen before," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said of Thor.

Sad. I acctually like what he did with Stardust and was looking forward to see what he could make with Thor.

^ ^ Bummer! I liked Stardust, too, and was looking forward to seeing what he would do with my favorite Marvel character.
Oh, well... onward and upward! I'm sure in the wake of Iron Man's success, whoever they attach to the project will be a topnotch director.
