Ditto, although I probably won't actually die until 1) I see HBP and 2) WB officially announces it.

Indeed. I wonder how else they would pull off the fall of the ministry. Kingsley's patronus arriving in the middle of the wedding reception and then utter chaos was crazy (and exactly what I had always hoped for in the seventh book). It'd be a shame to lose such a scene.
It could be done in Harry's birthday scene, though that would effect The Will of Albus Dumbledore.
Losing the wedding would be a BIG loss, I don't have to mention all the stuff that will be gone there.
EDIT: Now for some HBP news. The film will be released December 11 in Australia, and there's a new scene inserted in the middle of it. JKR has given her approval, but still...
David Yates posted: But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world - there'd be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody's parents had been killed, or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn't think it was safe.
And we're making aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort.
The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn't do that quite so easily in the film.
So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody's safe.
I think you'll like it. It's quite effective.

I'm not opposed to them adding to it, as long as Rowling approves it, as she has. So that's something to look forward to in my opinion.
Oh yeah, I also saw on MuggleNet that we may be hearing who the director of DH will be in the next couple of weeks. It's not totally confirmed yet, but 'tis a possibility.

My thoughts exactly. If Rowling has given it her okay, I'm excited to see what the scene will contain.

I was looking forward to a new and better director for Deathly Hallows. Oh well, hopefully Yates will grow as a filmmaker between Order and Hallows. I also hope the last two films are longer than Order of the Phoenix was.

It seems to me the studio should wait and see how HBP fares before naming the director of DH. The more times I watch OotP, the more I appreciate the filmmaking style, but Yates is still a fledgling filmmaker and it seems to me that handing the three most complex and profound books in the HP series to a guy just getting his feet wet in the Hollywood pool is a misstep. All previous directors have been renowned and experienced filmmakers before taking the reins of a Potter project.

So...we may see the Millennium Bridge collapse in the film. Anyone else annoyed that it didn't even exist when HBP took place? 120 extras involved in the scene as well, which implies that it's open at the time, and the bridge didn't open until 2000 (construction initially began in 1998 with HBP spanning '96-97). Oh well...*sigh*

The book just says the Death Eaters caused a to bridge collapse. It doesn't say which one, so no, it doesn't bother me very much.

No it doesn't say which one, but I'm sure it wasn't a bridge that wasn't built until several years later I'm not bugged by it too much, I think it's evident that they're setting the films closer to present day rather than the 90s, although if they show the same dates on the gravestones in Godrics Hollow, then we'll have a continuity issue

Will the film even indentify the collapsing structure as "The Millennium Bridge"? Or will its identity -- seen in what will likely amount to a two- or three-minute scene -- only be apparent to those members of the audience familiar with the design and location of the Bridge? If the latter, then the Millennium Bridge could be construed to be playing the part of a generic collapsing bridge.

So I read somewhere that there was some talk about splitting DH into two flicks and releasing them simultaneously... It was just talk, nothing concrete. Any word on that?
Personally, I think that's the only way to do it. There's just too much going on in DH for it to be a 2 and 1/2 hour movie. I'll sit through it if they make a single four hour movie, but I doubt they'll do that. Then again, I kinda doubt they'll split it in two either. But it would be cool.

I thought the bridge was one that had cars going across it and IIRC, the Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian bridge.
Still, I can see the irony in that bridge collapsing given what happened when people walked across is soon after it opened.
