Yes, the script that jediwampa refers to is the script everyone has read. After Paramount had it removed, it was available for members of the board via PM's and email. The first act is good, all action and "pop", It's what's in the rest of the script that people are concerned with.

They've changed it too much. But I won't argue any more. If there are some that are just fine with G.I.J.O.E. , A Real United Nations Hero, fighting the evil American Terrorists led by a disgruntled ex-member of G.I.J.O.E. and his sister, well, knock yourselves out.

And what was re-written in that 18 month old script? They moved the base from Brussels to egypt. Better?

And they removed all mention of G.I.J.O.E. , the Globally Integrated Joint Operating Entitiy, and changed the team name back to just "G.I. Joe", but left the whole concept in there.

Brendan Frasier has filmed his cameo as Gungo-Ho, and an offer has been made to The Rock to play Shipwreck.

Yeah, I would have expected someone with a...dunno, rounder head/gruffer face? Like a slightly younger Terry O'Quinn (John Locke on Lost).

Comingsoon.net has a picture of Mr. Eko as Heavy Duty. It's pretty cool.

Slashfilm has links to images of Stormshadow (now with hood!), Baroness (now with glasses!), Destro (now with, er, tie pin!) and Breaker (now with, um... retardedness!).

It's also been confirmed that Brendan Fraser will be in the movie, but not as one of the G.I.. Joes, so no worries about his playing Gung Ho.

Those pics are terrific! Why slashfilm has decided to paste "LAME" at the end of the headline is known only to themselves. The Baroness in particular looks like a fleshly incarnation of the action figure!!

Um, no, actually. She looks more like a bespectacled KISS groupie. The action figure was rather notable for the segmented body armour the character wore, which is not readily apparent on Miss Miller.

Um, yes, actually. I purchased the Baroness action figure in 1981, when I was 11 years old, and I still have it in my closet! Even if this so-called "segmented body armor" you speak of is an actual feature of the figure -- and and to my eyes it looks more like a suit of black leather -- at the very least the above-linked pic evokes the costume of the Baroness figure in a very close way: her style, her essence, are reproduced faithfully and accurately. The long dark hair, the glasses, the aggressive pose: I think she looks exactly like the Baroness, and your carping about this so-called "segmented body armor" does not persuade me to believe otherwise.

Plus, it's Sienna Miller...she who is amazingly hot. Why carp about Sienna Miller? I don't understand this myopia.

I have the figure out in my garage, if it comes down to that.

Look at it again. Both the figure and the original backer card artwork clearly show rigid segmented body armour. At the moment, I'm unable to find any clear images of the original carded figure, but take a look at the reproduction of the original artwork. It very clearly shows that she's wearing armour.

The cartoonishly huge belt buckle, the giant platform heels, the metal studwork, the pleather corset... To elaborate on my earlier point, she looks more like the refitted remnants of one of Gene Simmons' stage costumes than Cobra's head of Intelligence.

Quiet_Mandalorian, what exactly is the big deal? So the Baroness doesn't have "segmented body armor". Instead she has a tight, black leather suit that approximates the overall look of the action figure and evokes her essence, albeit without those all-important "segments". I fail to understand what is so upsetting about this. Surely you comprehend that a major motion picture is going to re-design the costumes of our beloved characters to a certain extent. The change is barely noticeable to my eye; I think she looks exactly like the Baroness I have pictured in my mind. It just seems like so much pointless carping. "Is the movie good or not?" and "Is it true to the spirit of the source material, and to the characters?": Those are the questions I want answered; not "Does the Baroness have segmented body armor?????"

Yes, you fail. wink

Seriously, they've abandoned a very striking, iconic look that was a good mixture of form and function both with a decidedly generic one that merely embodies form.

Naturally. I merely expect that the changes will be sensible, as in the transition from Duke's traditional khaki dress shirt and olive trousers to the armoured bodysuit that the character will be wearing in the film. In Baroness's case, there is no such defense.

It would seem that the answer is likely to be "no" for the most part, but that's another issue.

Well, there we diverge, obviously. I would sincerely like to know why she doesn't have segmented body armour, or rather, any body armour at all.
