Well, at least he's over 27.
Yeah, and he'll obviously pull off a native Australian well. There well be no other Dreadnoks, reportedly.
Dennis Quaid actually intrigues me. He's the only one of these actors that I can actually see playing the respectful part. To be honest, I'd be happy for having Ray Park, but isn't he a little short to be a Snake-Eyes? Most of the other actors are unknowns, at least unknown to me, so I can't really speculate on them.
I'll be very upset if they have Duke and Scarlett as a couple, instead of Scarlett and Snake-eyes though.

Probably won't get either...they'll just have her tease all of them.
Same with Baroness...I bet they don't link her and destro "exclusively".
It's how they'll add "edge".

And Vosloo? All I'm gonna think is "Imhotep...Imhotep".
Same here. Has he done anything since The Mummy flicks?
I know that he was a secondary character in Blood Diamond and portrayed the lead villian in season 4 of 24.

I'm surprised Oded Fehr hasn't been offered a role yet.

SHH posted: David Murray Joins G.I. Joe, Too
Source: IESB.Net on January 29, 2008
IESB.Net is reporting that theatre actor David Murray has joined the big screen G.I. Joe adaptation to play villain Destro:
David Murray, mainly an actor of theatre, has been described as a cross between Alan Rickman and Clive Owen. A strong, good-looking dark haired actor, it is said he has a bit of an aristocratic snob quality about him.
And although Destro had a minor role in the original animated "G.I. Joe: The Movie," he is the main baddie this time around.

Just in from IESB.Net
IESB.Net posted: Larry Hama Boards G.I. Joe!
Wednesday, 30 January 2008
The supreme authority of the G.I Joe universe gives Paramount and Stephen Sommers his blessing.
Essentially, the live action G.I. Joe film has just received the biggest endorsement that it could have possibly hoped for, Larry Hama has joined the production team as a creative consultant.
Mayimbe over at LatinoReview chimed in with the story today. Click here to read the details.
We have been hearing for a while that Director Stephen Sommers and Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura had an ace up their sleeve and Hama is it.
This is really great news for fans, let me explain. First, for those of you who don’t know who Larry Hama is, he has created some of the coolest characters in today's Joe universe including Snake Eyes, Destro, Scarlett, Cover Girl, Zartan and many more.
Click here for much more on Larry Hama over at Wikipedia.
This should really put fans mind to ease. With Larry Hama coming aboard, it’s a seal of approval from the one person who has invested 25 years of his career working on the G.I. Joe franchise.
Stay tuned for the latest G.I. Joe news...

Great News.
So why wasn't he on board BEFORE they started casting his characters?
Now, instead of having him voice in on "who" could play the parts, he gets to bash his head against a wall to get these people to play the characters as he created them.
genius move there Sommers...you get your cast, and give the headaches and heartaches to someone else...brilliant.
I hope this can be salvaged.

For the film it's good for him to be on board but I agree, he should have been brought on much earlier.

Dark Horizons posted: Dennis Quaid Talks G.I. Joe
Sunday, February 10th 2008
Out doing press for the new Sony thriller "Vantage Point," Dennis Quaid talked to Collider a little about his involvement in the upcoming "G.I. Joe" feature:
He describes his character of General Hawk as "a cross between Chuck Yeager and Sgt. Rock and maybe a naïve Hugh Hefner thrown in there." He's also honest about the film's tone - "It's a big popcorn type of tent pole action movie that...it's not deep... General Hawk's aide to camp is a Victoria Secret supermodel so how serious can it be?"
What about the story? "It's set a little bit in the future, and in a way the Joe's are an international sort of special forces type of group that mainly fights these terrorists groups that spring up. It's really more like James Bond than it would be about...yeah it's more like James Bond. And with the group being Spectre - there is this evil mastermind who is behind it. I think it's going to be more like the old James Bond's - like the Dr. No's - where the mastermind has his own private island and all these people are wearing matching coveralls."
Quaid confirms that he's already begun gym training for the shoot. He'll shoot two weeks of work spread over a month for this film, and has signed for three 'Joe' pictures should it be successful.

Destro has been recast!
Chris Eccleston will now wear the mask. The original actor couldn't get his work visa in time for filming next week.
Eccleston was the first Doctor in the new "Dr. Who", the "Evil" C.O. in "28 days later", and appeared in "Shallow Grave" and "Gone in 60 Seconds"
Oh yeah, Eccleston is in "Heroes", too. You might have heard of that show.
And principle photography started today. The main cast reports on Friday. Pictures should start flowing soon.
