Great pictures even if they don't tell us much. At least it means that Chris Carter officialy has started filming.

I'm really nervous about Xzibit's casting. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong. Otherwise, though, I'm beyond happy that this is finally happening.

SO what's the deal, any word on Doggett and Reyes making an appearance? I always kinda liked Doggett.

As this is monster-of-the-week fare, and not mythology related, AND for it to not mess with continuity ... could this film be set in the 'past', ie: before Doggett, et al.?

Behind-the-Scenes Footage From X-Files 2

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Last week some extremely boring images hit the web from the set of 20th Century Fox's X-Files 2, now today a video featuring a tad more went online. Inside you'll find footage from the set in Vancouver of stars David Duchovny and Amanda Peet doing their thing. Still not much, but hey, it's better than nothing! Gillian Anderson, Xzibit, Billy Connolly, Callum Keith Rennie and Adam Godley also star. The studio is keeping the film's logline under wraps, but stressed the pic is a stand-alone story and supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully in new directions.

I'm really looking forward to this movie. Although I'm not so sure about the title (Done One). Hopefully that title is just a code name like Blue Harvest was to Star Wars.

I am bummed that it won't be alien related but I am looking forward to it nonetheless. It will be great to have back Mulder and Scully.

If this film ignores the last couple of seasons, I'm OK with that. For me, The X-Files ended with Season 7.

I'm thrilled beyond belief that they're not getting back into the alien-conspiracy bull****. That had to be the most unsatisfying long-form story in television history. I always preferred the one-shots. A standalone story with these people is great news. The first movie, while good, was a huge wasted opportunity. While they still had the whole world watching, they could have wrapped the alien plotline up, and gone home triumphant.

I'd consider Scully a sexy smart chick if it weren't for the fact that every week she'd discover that her world view was incorrect, and yet would instantly reset back to "unconvinced skeptic" the following week. By season three or four, you wanted to shake her like an infant every time she said, "There has to be a reasonable explanation for this."

The only thing that worries me is that Carter is directing. He directed what is possibly the worst (or "so-bad-it's-GOOD") X-Files episode with "First-Person Shooter," and a lot of his other episodes were all over the place. Too bad they didn't try to get Bowman back.

Or is he still in film-director jail after Elektra?

From what I've read It's a "stand-alone-film"

USA Today posted:
First look: 'X-Files' returns to theaters, minus alien mythology

LOS ANGELES — The sequel is out there.
The conspiracy theories will not be.

Ten years after the first film and six years after the show went off the air, The X-Files returns to theaters with Fox Mulder, Dana Scully — and a lot riding on the bet that fans want more of the FBI's paranormal-investigating agents.

The film, which remains without a formal title, will dump the long-running "mythology" plotline — that aliens live among us and are part of a colonizing effort — that made it one of the most popular television shows in the late 1990s but ultimately drove away some viewers who found it too complex and ambiguous.

"We spent a lot of time on (the mythology) and wrapped up a lot of threads" when the show went off the air in 2002, says Chris Carter, creator of the series and director of the new movie. "We want a stand-alone movie, not a mythology conspiracy one."

That will come as welcome news to fans of the show's stand-alone episodes, which included cults, ghosts, psychics and ancient curses.

Carter refuses to divulge any plot points of the movie, but says he wanted to make the film immediately after the show ended. A contractual dispute with 20th Century Fox kept it on the shelf until the case was settled out of court.

He says the delay may turn out to be a blessing.

"There's a whole audience I want to introduce X-Files to," Carter says. "There were kids who couldn't watch it on TV because it was too scary. Now they're in college. I wanted a movie that everyone could go to."

Whether they will could be a test of the show's legacy, says Blair Butler of the G4TV network, which caters to video-game enthusiasts and science-fiction fans.

"At its strongest, it had really creepy stand-alone episodes," she says. "They turned it into a great franchise. But a lot of years have passed. We'll see if it's fallen off the radar."

She says the film could benefit from an ironic twist: the Writers Guild strike.

"I think it could be a sort comfort food for the people who loved how original the show was and aren't seeing original TV now," she says.

But Carter believes they'll be drawn by something else: the show's stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

"For me, The X-Files has always been a romance," he says. "They had an intellectual romance that's very rare and restrained compared to so many relationships on TV. I think that's what appealed most to the fans. And they're back."

The X-Files Hits Newfoundland!

Jan 28th 2008

If you thought werewolves were scary, just you wait. According to Hollywood North Insider, the new X-Files movie, strangely called X-Files: Done One, will have Fox Mulder and Dana Scully heading up to northern Canada -- Newfoundland, to be exact. Their sources say that the extras for the film are being told that they are "Newfies," which is slang for people from Newfoundland, and that they need swimsuits for a scene being shot on a reservation in Mount Currie. Is this where werewolves come from? Considering the suit angle, I wonder -- are the beasties titillated by the appearance of an over-abundance of skin?

Meanwhile, X-FilesNews.Com has another source that has provided possible set pictures and call sheets. While the 'Newfies' will be prancing around in bathing suits, this call sheet shows lots of snow, and what's going one with some of the players involved -- like Billy Connelly's Father Joe, as well as Amanda Peet, and Xzibit. So far, this is looking to be one strange film. Whether that strangeness will translate into a good return of the story and characters -- that remains to be seen.

No Werewolves in "X-Files 2" at WorstPreviews™

According to a MovieWeb scooper, director Chris Carter and the rest of the team behind the "X-Files" sequel have been trying to confuse fans in order to stop them from figuring out the plot. On January 22nd, several on set photos have leaked showing Carter playing with a prop that the FX guys came up with. The prop happened to be the head of a werewolf, which immediately sparked rumors that the new movie will head in that direction.

Similar to what other directors have been claiming to do, Michael Bay with "Transformers 2" and Christian Nolan with "The Dark Knight," Carter is doing his best to keep the plot a secret and attempting to discourage fans from piecing together the story before the film hits theaters.

So I guess we're back to the beginning. As far as the plot, all we have to go by is the fact that "X-Files 2" will be a stand-alone story and supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) in new directions.

Also new this day is this.
