Well, since they haven't included Iblis in the current BSG, I would love to see him in Caprica.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the character from the original series was Baltar's realization that he had the same voice as the Cylon Imperius Leader. That was a plot point that was never expanded, and I would love to see that expounded upon in Caprica, if possible.
Peace,

As much as I'd love to see more of BSG's history, I'd rather that SciFi pumped every bit of cash they have into the last half of Season 4, and then give us a 3 part mini-series to bookend the series. And give BSG the send off that it rightly deserves for being the best show on TV. Period.

Chancellor_Ewok posted: I like it. If we're going to show characters from the current show, I think we need to have a Baltar reference. Maybe Gaius's father played a key role in developing Cylon technology or perhaps we see him defending the Cylons in some way, perhaps arguing for their continued evolution, which is a sign of where his destiny lies.
The other though I had was that maybe Count Iblis could work as Gaius Baltar's father. In the original show, Iblis is credited with making possible for the mechanical Cylons to bring down the Colonies. By having Iblis develope Cylon technology in Caprica, he would serve a similar function and foreshadow Baltar's treason fifty years later.
In Season 3 we learned that Baltar was a poor farmboy from one of the rural, repressed colonies. He fled the farm life to Caprica and pursued his education, even going so far as to change his accent to fit in.
I wouldn't mind seeing Iblis involved in the creation or militarization of the Cylons, though (just not under Baltar's father)
Read my post again. I evisioned Iblis as being Baltar's father, not working for him. As for Baltar being from Aerlon, maybe he's illigitimate. If the Battlestar novels are any indication, sex addiction and pathological narcisism seems to runsin Baltar's family. Unity desribes an incident where Gaius walked in on his grandfather and three of his partners.

Please take note that in my bit o' speculation the planet Kobol's location is not widely known. Greystone Institute of Science and Technology sends a SECRET expedition to the fabled origin of all 13 colonies. Where did Greystone get directions you ask? Most likely a mysterious benefactor serving the interests of a certain Kobol Lord fallen from grace...
My guess is the source of the Invisible Six/Invisible Baltar is a REVISED version of the Iblis entity (the clues are there from season one). Greystone makes a deal with an ancient Kobollian android that sparked a rebellion thousands of years before. This renegade android looks completely Human or not at will. Like the Cylon tech of the Second Cylon War ancient Kobollian tech can project illusion. Remember the Scrolls of Pythia stating - what has happened before, will happen again. And in a manner of speaking the dynamic of invented machines rebelling against their creators has/is happened again. A cycle of invention and rebellion is playing out with slight variations on the theme, but by and large the same tune is there.
Regarding the final five 'skinjobs'-
They are different from the other seven models. My thinking is that Tigh, Tory, Anders, Tyrol, and (?-Romo Lampkin-? or ?-William Adama-?) are replacements for real Human beings. At some point in the past each of these persons was abducted by various means. Each was replaced with an exact duplicate. These exact duplicates were created by ancient Kobollian nano-tech. Essentially they are proto-cylon 'skinjobs'. One of the stepping stones toward the other seven modern Cylon 'skinjobs'. So let's say we find out that a very young Billy Adama died of cancer after the Third Colonial Conflict ended. Maybe Greystone made Joseph Adama an offer. Greystone has the secrets to ancient Kobollian nano-tech. Greystone can give Joseph a restored Billy. Jump forward to the aftermath of the First Cylon War. A drunk Saul Tigh is abducted in a dark alley while Tigh's in a stupor. Again a Kobollian nano-tech duplicate is set in motion. Are you seeing my drift here? Each replacement is to find his/her path to the offices of power. To be in key positions for certain events.
A word about Romo Lampkin and real estate issues-
I strongly suspect him to be the final Cylon 'skinjob'. Or he might be the flesh/blood form of a revised Iblis entity. Maybe both. I seem to remember in my comparative religion class that in the Jewish tradition Satan translates as advesary. Further the advesary was portrayed as a kind of lawyer. Now think about that. The song 'Along The Watchtower' also hints at the legal bindings of plowing the earth and drinking of the wine 'dig my earth - drink my wine - not knowing what it's all worth'. Sounds like a round about poetic way of describing the struggle to settle the fabled 13th colony. Who gets to settle there and what will be the hidden costs. Like maybe another Faustian pact is being suggested. I think the main thrust of season 4's resolution will involve the letter of the law - the devil being in the details and all that. Lee going from Viper pilot to lawyer foreshadows this. Will he fail like his grandfather? Or succeed like his granfather? I'm only using Lee as one example. I don't mean to write like his character is the central focus. I know how this must read. But folks the new BG is a tricky show. It plays with suggestion and nuance. The clues are in the dynamics of the characters/plots/settings/props. Take nothing for granted or at face value. Caprica might be even more crafty and layered in context/subtext.

Just a note-
Yes in Judaism Satan is viewed as a prosecutor (ala "Jack McCoy") who accuses mankind before G-d.
Your idea is really cool, but I like the beings of light as "ascended" (as they were in the original series) as opposed to being from androids.
More mysterious that way .

It's also mentioned in the bonus features on one of the DVDs, and it was also on the Sci-fi channel main site back during Season 1. I think that it's been his backstory from the beginning.

Well the podcast titled The Doctor And Mrs. Who said Caprica production would have started two weeks from their podcast. No other website has confirmed this. I'm still holding out hope for Caprica. I'd like it to replace 'Crap Gordon' on SFC. But if wishes were tauntauns they all would be ate by Wampas. Sigh. Well I'm slightly revising how I'd do the storyline arc of Caprica. So here is a bit more personal speculation-
Caprica
Cue soundtrack - 'Capricorn Rising'
Opening captions:
"One of thirteen worlds settled by Man."
"A rising world-state among the known twelve."
"To be tested in both war and peace."
"Seen through the eyes of a family named for the first Man."
1. Mini-series 'pilot' episode
A. The secret expedition to the fabled planet of Kobol by the Greystone Institutute of Science and Technology. This after CEO of GIST makes a deal with a mysterious benefactor that knows the way to Kobol. Once there the mission members discover ancient Kobollian androids that believe they are the Lords of Kobol. A Faustian-like pact is made. Humans and machines seal the deal.
B. GIST retro-engineering the ancient Kobollian tech. Creating and demostrating the first modern Cylon unit. Because of the war this unit is a military model. GIST has invited members of the former Quorum of Twelve. I say former because the twelve worlds are no longer united and in a state of violent civil war. Saggitaria and its allies have broken the Quorum of 12. Caprica and its allies represent the other side.
C. Third Colonial Conflict rages on planetary surfaces and in the depths of space. Seen through the eyes of a Adama family member serving in the military. Most likely aunt(s)/uncle(s)/cousin(s) of a very young William Adama. This family member(s) is witness to the use of the modern Cylon military system. The use of this cybernetic army wins the war for Caprica and its allies. Caprica becomes the dominant colony.
D. Homecoming. The surviving aunt(s)/uncle(s) of William Adama return to the Adama estate. Young Billy will be the first to greet them. The change in the older relative and war veteran is shocking to both Billy and his father Joseph Adama. During the Third Colonial Conflict the use of Kammala became widespread. It helped to keep the troops 'buzzing'. It unfortunately creates addicts.
E. Colonial Day. This year's celebration and election will be a major event for both the Greystone CEO and the Adama estate. A day of hope and joy. The war to end all wars is finally over. Or so everyone believes. GIST now converts the Cylon system over to a civilian market. Every facet of society will have some measure of Cylon tech.
End of TV mini-series 'pilot' episode.
Season One-
Adapting to peacetime has been hard on Billy's relative. The addiction to Kammala is epidemic. It has led to a falling out between Billy's father and aunt(s)/uncle(s). Ironic since Joseph Adama serves as a defense lawyer for drug addicts and what-not. The addicted relative wrecks his/her vehicle and prompts Joseph to buy one of those new Cylon system cars. This vehicle looks like a certain black Trans-Am from a certain Glen Larson produced TV series on the long-lost 13th colony. The point is the Cylon tech inside the vehicle can take over if the driver blacks-out. Billy also is given a Cylon related gift. The young boy is given a Cylon playmate unit. The kid and machine take to each other quickly. Especially after the death of Billy's dog.
Meanwhile wartime reparations are forcefully paid by the Saggitarians. The former rogue colony is bankrupted and can not pay the high costs of damages. A post-war secret society forms on the rogue colony. They are labeled terrorists and Cylon police units are sent out across the 12 colonies to hunt the terrorists down. This especially becomes important after the CEO of GIST is assassinated. The Cylon police units can not seem to determine who is responsible for the CEO's death.
In another sector of Caprica or another colony a factory disaster occurs. Many Humans are killed. Evidence seems to suggest sabotage. Many want to blame the Saggitarian terrorists, but it seems a Cylon factory unit might be the perp. A lawsuit quickly formulates against GIST. Joseph Adama finds himself sucked into the legal wrangling.
The death of the GIST-CEO has caused the Cylon system to question itself and its role in Human affairs. The CEO is akin to a father figure to the A.I. The sudden violent death of the CEO prompts crude Human-like grief in the Cylon system. The loss of a father is a new and raw concept to be pondered. That is when the system is 'visited' by a powerful ethereal presence. This entity offers to be a new father figure to the A.I. Soon the concept of having a God is embraced by the Cylon system. A crude religion spreads among the various types of Cylon tech. One that involves seeking revenge on a long-term schedule.
Another assassination happens. Twelve more to be exact. The entire Quorum of 12 is killed. Even the representative of the rogue Saggitarians. So Caprica and its staunch allies can not easily blame them. The mystery seeps into the courtroom. Joseph Adama's case is affected by the mystery. Joseph essentially is now representing the Cylon factory unit that is accused of killing Humans. He loses the case and the Cylon factory unit is to be 'boxed'. To the Cylon system this is akin to capitol punishment. Humans are killing a Cylon. Humans are killing a being that is essentially a 'newborn' entity.
The Cylon system cries out to the God of the Cylons. The entity appears as the dead CEO. It comforts the Cylon system and reveals this awful turn of events as a test. A test of loyalty. The God of Cylons offers a plan - THE plan. The Cylon system accepts the teaching. The 12 colonies of man will suffer for its blindness and gluttony. The Cylon system declares itself in a state of rebellion against mankind.
All across the 12 Colonies sweeping blackouts occur. When the power grid reboots every type of Cylon unit seeks to attack people. Think of it as a tech-based Dawn Of The Dead or a SERIOUS form of Maximum Overdrive. Young Billy Adama finds himself having to defend his mother from his own Cylon playmate unit. Thus foreshadowing young Billy's future as a Cylon killer.
End of season one.
Season Two-
The Humans of the 12 Colonies have had to fight their own creations on every level of society. This early stage of the Cylon Rebellion nearly saw the end of mankind. The military and civilian police barely wrenched themselves from extinction. From hidden bases and bolt-holes the military and civilian police weaned themselves of automated interactive power grids. The Cylon system must be avoided at all costs.
Billy Adama is a bit older now. Most likely starting high school. He and his family survived the early stage of Cylon Rebellion. They now live in a fortified compound that might remind us of a medival castle on Earth. Non-integrated technology is in use. So TV is available. But it is limited to old re-runs and newscasts. The boy is working on homework. Using pen-paper instead of electronic net pads. A particular newscast breaks his concentration.
On the TV set a news anchor named Serina states that a new fleet of military spacecraft are under construction in scattered and secret locations. These new military spacecraft are called battlestars. They are designed to take back colonies fallen to the Cylon 'Empire'. But first they must be completed before Cylon scouting units find the secret drydocks.
The focus returns to Billy. The rare glimpse of a new battlestar makes him smile. He'd like to serve on one of those someday. Frak! Maybe he might even live long enough to command one of them battlestars. Nah...if dad has his way Billy will be a teacher or lawyer. Boring. Maybe Billy could secretly join the Junior Colonial Warrior Brigade behind Joseph's back. Run away to the military when the time is right? Time will tell...
And so with painful struggle the fighting of the Cylon Rebellion evolves into the First Cylon War. A long and protracted conflict that makes and breaks people all across the 12 colonies. Eventually Billy Adama does join the military and becomes known as Husker?/Husher?. He becomes a killer of Cylonkind.

Another thing about Caprica has come to mind. It might be influenced by Shakespeare. Word is two family estates are involved and come into conflict with one another. The Adama estate versus the Greystone estate. Of course Dune also comes to mind - House Atreides versus House Harkonnen.

Sci-Fi Channel's official press release, with comments by Ron Moore.
Also confirmed here:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/860/860595p1.html Shooting this spring, airing in the fall.
They know they're losing BSG after '09, and it's been confirmed by a number of people on the inside that Sci-Fi aren't wanting to lose Moore along the way as a showrunner/creative force, and thus are "locking" him down for the foreseeable future.
