Phoenix, haggis is frequently misrepresented as some sort of uneatable thing that Scots people only consume to demonstrate their toughness.

in truth, yes it contains some elements of offal, but believe you me dearie, its not got the lips, **** and ******** you'll find in your average beefburger.

basically, haggis is an oatmeal dish...... an economy dish for poor people..... with the oatmeal made palatble by the inclusion of a bit of ground up liver and heart and, if its a good haggis, lots and lots of pepper.

good haggis is a lovely spicey treat.... i don't really like liver or kidneys or any of that stuff, except in haggis.

really, go on, get a good one from a delicatessen, serve it with creamy mashed potato, gorgeous.

Indeed, haggis is excellent! I was afraid to eat it, I have to admit. But once I tied it , I tell you, it is a very nice spicy food. In fact, I had haggis at noon and didn't eat anything for the rest of the day.

Here's something Greek.

I don't like spicy stuff! I don't even like pepper! But Greek food is good. Even if it looks nasty.

Thank you Mr DD for straightening me out about Haggis. I must be getting it mixed up with some other items I've heard of that include blood, like pudding?

I'm sure there are many nasty named items we eat here in the south that you all have heard of and wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole.

I'm working to improve my understanding of such things as I hope to one day travel to this great country (probably for a weekend at a sci-fi convention-as I would fit in for the most part there).

I think blach pudding is made from clotted pig's blood. But don't let that fool you. It tastes good.

OK...I will researve comment unless I have actually eaten it. I have had some odd (to my way of thinking) food and enjoyed it. Oysters, fried chicken livers, fried green tomatoes and stewed okra...most of which looks and smells gross.

// has heart attack

eating strange stuff is one of the joys of travel...... sometimes its a wonderful new experience, sometimes its just an experience. happy

I was given extremely hot curried pickle for breakfast in New Delhi once, which certainly woke me up........

Ohhh, my blood pressure is going up just thinking about all that batter-fried sweet stuff. My favorite is the fried ice cream from the local Mexican resturant.

Thought I'd throw out a trivia question since this is a SW board...picked this one since you all seem like a guns rather than sunsets kind of group (I know I am).

What type of blaster does Han Solo wield?
A) BlasTech E-11
B) BlasTech DL-44
C) BlasTech DH-17
D) Drearian Defense Conglomerate Defender

(Got this from my desk Calander-Jedi Master Level Qt)

This board is making me hungry. I still can't get over the "Haggis in a can". If a Scot goes into space, do you think he'd get freeze dried haggis? LOL!

Oh, and Han carried a DL-44.

Very good! Always happy to meet a Master Jedi!

Speaking of Haggis in space, wouldn't that be like MRE's (meal ready to eat) that the military take into the field - just add water...but I haven't heard anyone who's eaten it that thinks it taste good.

ha !

now usually...... if someone was to appear here and start blathering about such dreadful SW trivia - "what brand of shampoo does Chewbacca use? dandruff-control or anti-frizz" - we would run you out of town with a flea in yir ear and a toe up yir arse..... but, seeing as its you, and , well, there's a new film on the way, and I'm getting a wee bit enthusiastic myself, we'll let you away with it happy

and I use the same delicatessen as Trisha Biggar and she says the DL44s always caused hellish problems with the holsters cos they were a bit too heavy to the handle-end......
