Fistral Beach, and just Newquay in general. I love that place! If I ever come to a meeting in the South, I'd want it at Newquay.

Hello Carbonitekid, welcome to the boards Why do you dislike the Isle of Wight so much? Although I guess if you're young there isn't a lot to do there and of course have to suffer the annual invasion of tourists, which I presume is not much fun, lol.

Hi mate thanks for the welcome. Been on here before , just not in a looooong while.
Why do I dislike the Isle of Wight ? Because I live there. You will never find a more stuffy, backward thinking , stuck in the 1950's place than this pile of ****e. And if that was not bad enough it costs an arm and a leg to get anywhere on it or to get off it.
Its like the supporting cast of deliverance meets Waynetta Slob and family down here for much of the populace. The rest are over 65 and NIBYS one and all.
There are people here who have never left there home village for Newport (the capital town) , a distance of never more than 20 miles!!!!

LOL!
We used to have our family holidays on the Isle of Wight until I was about 13 or 14 and I loved it. A lot of my family live over there still although it is too infrequently that I get the opportunity to go back.

Trust me mate its better that way. The hills echo with the sound of "Are you local? This is a local place for local people" every time the bloody ferry pulls in during the summer.

this thread has taken a very surreal turn.
so,you're saying the isle of wight is a bit like royston vasey?
i got more of a craggy island vibe when we went there once...
a very disturbed looking 'theme park',which wouldn't have looked out of place in the movie 'saw'.

Hey, it's a British Island, what do you expect?
If we haven't got crazy Pagans on remote Scottish islands burning people in Wicker Men, then we've got Sadist theme parks on small English islands.
The island of Rum wants to re-introduce the Wolf, which was wiped out on the mainland.
I can see that island's population disappearing overnight
We have crazy islanders here.

The one and only time I've ever been sick on a coach was on the Isle of Wight when I was about 8..baad memories. Although I do remember a giant plastic dinosaur and some pirates which I thought were kinda cool
My fav place in the south has to be Monkey World I think..it's not too far away from me and I've been there more times than I can count.
Also love Bath .. it's a beautiful place and I went to Uni there so have many fond memories of running around the streets wearing a Toga.
Oh..and pretty much the whole of Cornwall.
I think I should stop now
