I pine for the classic ea...'twas a nice little 'romp'....
Finally got "sacrifice" ($20...thanx Amazon.com!!!) and got the Hardcover 'Making of Star Wars' at the same time - $100 including expedited shipping ..took 6 days..
Verrrrrry happy.......
NOT impressed with the Mando **** diverting the storyline......
 ...  me either, totally ruined that book ! The rest of it was quite good.

Finished.
Sort of, well, meh about the ending...I was hoping for high drama and instead got what I like to call a "karate-chop" finish.
Jacen's 'ascendancy' was completely underwhelming.....even Anakin's was more prosaic....
AM TOTALLY absorbed in The Making of Star Wars, though!!!

I've got it 
Over 700 pages pretty much devoted to the sets of the movies. About 1/3 devoted to the OT (with lots of behind the scenes pictures I'd never seen before - including the inside of the Tie fighter cockpit  ), and the remainder to the prequels. Lots of green screen shots from the prequels since only a minimal sets were built.

Not that I would expect it to fit in the with the movies in the first place, but is Shadows of the Empire now redundant due to the dialogue between Vader and the Emperor slightly changing on the DVD release of TESB??

I would say it still fits in... I haven't read the SotE novel but I've played the game so my knowledge about the whole thing isnt the best.
In what ways do you think it would've been made redundant?

well just finished reading "darth bane, parth of destruction"
slow at first but i guess you have to explain where he came from and how he got his name, the section when he gets to the Sith academy is good, definetely one for the imps or sith followers i guess with snipets of Jedi in the mix as well...

Alot of us thought those facial tattoos were very familiar, and i think they (rabid fans) took the research one step further and put all the pieces together. The minute he said he had the chance once to end the skywalker line i knew they were going to be old school about it and have him once being an old republic jedi, but the first i read about Hett being suspected was on theforce.net 7 week long disection of all the clues. Alot of very excellent observations were made by fans regarding his background, but it was cool to see those guesses actually be right.
Personally, i'm of mixed feelings regarding the face behind the mask. Part of me loves that it was a minor player from the republic comics, because alot of good characters had very ambigious endings/ MIA status when order 66 went down. Having him be a minor character was good becasue i did not persoanlly want to see the whole "Krayt is really a clone of "insert major hero/villian here"! The early EU had a tendancy to use that heavily as a plot crutch, understandibly with the Zahn stuff.
However the other half of me would of liked to have seen a new character behind the mask. Duursema and Ostrander were quoted in an early interview in saying that this comic was designed with new readers of SW in mind, and that they set it up in mind that any casual SW fan, or even someone new to it could pick issue one up and understand what was going on, and not get confused/left out of key plot points simply because they had not read all the EU up to that point. I can see in my mind alot of people such as this reading that last page of issue 15 and having the whole head scratching "huh??" moment trying to figure out who Hett was, and why everyone was going spare because it was his face.
Kudos to the very good likeness of Exar Kun in that last frame too, really rams home that the Sith have begun another "evolutionary" stage of their religion, abandoning the the rule of two, and adopting a rahter Buddist oneness approach. All minor annoyances aside, i am very much enjoying this series, it has made a terrific entry, and is rapidly gaining fans due to the fact there are Imperials with lightsabers, the Skywalker is not an all-powerful killing machine, but has come full circle to being a fractured man shunning the legacy of a great Jedi name, retreating into the use of powerful Stimulants to cut himself off from the force. I look forward to the next couple of issues
