the difference was Kyp was under the influence of a Sith Lord at the time & acting own his own not part of the New Republic OR the Jedi order. BIG difference.

Ok, so luke action of his own volition (or under direction of Obi-wan - the guy who made NUMEROUS mistakes...) justifies his actions....
OMG, what a cop out...... talk about rose coloured glasses....
Luke - the guy who can do no wrong......
If the Jedi Order condems millions to death, it's ok ?

nup, not buyin' that, Luke wasn't acting under his own volition, or Obi Wans' for that matter, he was acting under instructions from the Rebel Alliance, which once in power held democratic elections & a new government was formed( after the second Death Star that is)
Cue- Master Toddi's help to defend Obi Wan. I is out numbered, but never tell me the odds
Luke didn't make the same mistakes that Obi Wan did, when he saw the chance he eliminated Lumiya (EU) unlike Obi Wan who let A'Sharrat Hett leave Tatooine deafeated & didn't finish Anakin on Mustafaar, both of which cost the galaxy millions of lives. That was Obi Wan's biggest mistakes, not finishing the job/s. Besides that Obi Wan was one of the galaxys greatest Jedi.
The Jedi serve the democratically elected government- the Sith serve themselves !

I'm abstaining for the most part at the moment.
But, as for making mistakes, Anakin made the biggest mistake of all, believing Sidious. He lost everything he lived for.

I agree whole heartedly- Mace said " He's to dangerous to be left alive" Anakin wanted him alive for selfish reasons & lost focus of what was right & wrong for the galaxy & the galaxy & it's people paid a heavy price for it.

Swap places with Anakin, MS
Could YOU cope with the loss of SP if you thought it was preventable ??
Anakin didn't kill Padme remember... she died of a broken heart.
It was all HER fault that the galaxy was plunged into darkness....
Typical womens doing.....

Anakin didn't know that for sure- remember "always in motion the future is" Anakins desire to be the greatest, his thirst for power including stopping people from dying led to his downfall.

No the jedi order stuffing him around as much as they did was the reason he eventually saw the sith as the way.
Why be bound by rules when you can simply reach out and act.

Mace Windu felt threatened by Anakin... jealous almost.
They (the Jedi) tried to hold him back. They relished power as much as the Sith do... The prime spot on Coruscant "looking down" on the population from their "Ivory Tower".. & please don't use the old "gift from the Republic" line...
They could have easily refused.... So much for a vow of poverty... they lived in LUXURY compared to many citizens of the Republic...
Anakin only wanted to stop Padme from dying (& his unborn child - unknowing of the twins factor).. Is it selfish to want to stop the one you love from dying ?????
How is that wrong ???
Who here wouldn't have made the same decision ?
& why the admonishing smilie MS ??
Why no answer to my question ??

On a thinly related note - I hypothesise that Anakin's dreams of Padme's death were influenced by the Sith....naughty naughty Palpateenee...that was always going to get the whiny brat on his side.
And on an even more thinly related note - dying of a 'broken heart' is the single worst thing about the whole SW trilogy....closely followed by some other things, but this was just ridiculous.
Hang on, what am I doing in here? I'm about to go outside and have some fun (and cause a little mayhem) in the *real* world
Hehe.

it is a stoopid point !
The Jedi DO NOT relish power ! They are keepers of the peace, not an army. and as for having a nice Temple...what would you have them do, live in a cave in the ground ? They utilise what they have & gifts and or donations & why wouldn't you ?
and Skipp Possibly Anakins visions were influenced by Palpatine. Who knows ? and evil, your point is moot because Anakin wasn't sacrificing Padme. You make it sound like if he let Mace kill Palpatine he'd be sacrificing her which is not true. Saving Palpatine didn't guarentee Padme living either as evidenced, Anakin wanted as much power as he could, yes he felt the Jedi were holding him back...and with good reason too, Anakin was dangerous, reckless and a loose ion cannon !
It was Anakins thirst for power which led to his downfall, his slide didn't start in Palpatine's office ! It started waaay before that. Anakin was seduced by Palpatine & the power he could give him fullstop !
