Uh huh. And Mace Windu's comment on "We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive."
That sounds like desperation, as well as people who are afraid to lose what they have.
Its human nature, and despite the fact its seems to be a Sith Trait.
Especially since the Sith were originally Jedi.

Freedom costs security...
Under the Republic there was anarchy, slavery & corrutption - widespread.
Under the Empire there was security & order ...if you toed the line 
Sure, there were some malcontents & a bit of slavery... not what was compared to under the new Republic...

Sure, there were some malcontents & a bit of slavery... not what was compared to under the new Republic...
Under the old Republic there was slavery(in the outer rim), anarchy ?? hardly think anarchy is the correct word, & corruption- there is corruption in EVERY era, INCLUDING the reign of the Sith.
Empire security & order ?? That's why there were parties all over the galaxy when they were defeated ???
and as for slavery- the Empire was the biggest slavers the galaxy had seen. The whole wookie race was enslaved !! Any alien race was either used as slaves or wiped out !
The New Republic was probably the best era EVER to have lived. People lived in a free democratic society, and I don't remmeber hearing anything about slaves in that era....other than the Vong using humans as slaves.

There a book I'm reading currently, which i bought from the Open day.
Truce at Bakura, I think the ssr'uuk are using the humes as slaves for entechment...
I havent finsihed it, letalone gotten half way, and the book is seriously kickass.
PS. I'm not one for reading books, and thats saying something. The only thing I've read all week
except for these forums.

It wasn't the entire race of Wookiees that were enslaved, mostly just the males that were appropriate for the heavy duty workforce..
How the heck else were we going to build 2 Death Stars that quickly ????
Sheesh..... Do Jedi need everything spelt out to them ? No wonder it only took two Sith to wipe out thousands of Jedi.... & don't roll out the "it only took one Jedi to wipe out the Empire" line cos the math is still in our favour...
2 Sith wipe out THOUSANDS of JEDI.
1 Jedi wipes out 2 Sith.
Can't argue with maths....
p.s - the Jedi STOLE children.... Just as bad....

2 Sith wiped out how many Jedi ???  Order 66 & the "traitor" clones took out most of them, Vader wiped out a couple also.
want to do the calculations again ?
edit- the Jedi didn't steal children, they recommended parents of Force sensitive children give up their child for the greater good of the galaxy, besides that didn't happen in Luke's NJO !!

Yup.....
Stormtroopers aren't as "powerful" as Jedi - therefore it should have been easier to kill them... Both times the vanquished never saw it comin.....
If Luke had killed thousands of Sith, I'd be impressed..
The Jedi had "The Force" on their side..& still couldn't stop their fate.
Thousands of Jedi were wipe out in minutes.... an army of "super soldiers".
We all saw how badly stormtroopers could aim... No big deal on the losses.
