I speak in metaphors occasionally, but my favorite thing is alliteration. Maybe "putting out fires" was a corporate thing, rather than literal.

Hy kids I am back. Sorry to cut out so abrubtly yesterday. A squirel bit the main power line running into campus and shut down the whole power grid. It took them about an hour to get it running again.

BTW, the squirrel was killed in the incident.
